I am almost 4 weeks post op and just now experiencing some pain in my port area. It feels like a sore pinching pain when I move. Has anybody else experienced this? I'm not sure if I have done something to make it hurt.

I'll be 2 weeks post op on Monday. My doctor has me on clear and full liquids for 4 weeks. They gave me a list of things I could and could not eat but I'm wondering how many ounces am I supposed to have at a time. I don't want to hurt anything and right now I can eat 10 ounces of creamy tomato soup(lowfat) in about 20 minutes. It doesn't hurt at all. The first week I could only do about 2 ounces at a time but now I take small sips and it goes down fine. I just want to make sure that I'm not doing anything wrong.

Thanks for responding. If you don't mind me asking. . .How much weight did you lose on the liquid phase and how long was it? I've lost 10 pounds since surgery but I was hoping for more. I'm trying to decide if I am doing everything right. I have friend that lost 25 the first two weeks and I'm wondering if there is something else I should be doing. I really want to make this work for me. Do you lose more quickly after your fill? Sorry for all the questions and thanks again.

Who has used any and were they successful? I'm about to hire one and wanted to know some experiences with them. Thanks

Thanks for the replies. I was hoping that someone had gotten BCBS to overturn their decision. Anyway, I think I'm going to get in touch with a lawyer and see what steps I need to take. I can't pay for it myself and I don't want the RNY.

I'm just curious to know what NC insurances have paid for the LapBand. I have been getting nowhere with BCBS and my patience is wearing thin. I don't know if I should try a lawyer or what I should do next. Please help, any information is much appreciated.

If you don't mind me asking, how did you get up with Don Mills? I have went to the website several times but can't find any information about contacting him. I have spoken with Walter Lindstrom with Obesity Law. Has anyone else had any success with him? I would really like to know before I hire him for my appeal.

I have blue cross blue shield blue options. They do cover WLS surgery if medically necessary, but they have an exclusion for adjustable gastric banding. They cover the RNY and other surgeries. Is there any way I can fight an exclusion? Also, I was looking up the codes on their website and they do have a code for adjustable gastric banding. Which makes no sense to me if they have it excluded from coverage. Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks everyone for all the ideas and support. I just feel lost sometimes and overwhelmed with the process of getting this done. It helps to have someone to talk to.

Oh yeah, about self-pay, my doctor's office told me to check with carecredit.com for financing. Have you heard of this? -

My doctor is C. Kenneth Mitchell in Pinehurst. Rockingham is about 2 hours from Charlotte. I had my GB ultrasound test done today and my bone density test. There has just got to be a way that I can have the Lap-Band done. I'm not giving up. -

That is awesome!! I'm praying for the same thing here in NC. Did you have an exclusion for Lap-Band in your policy? -

Hey! Thanks for all the support!! I'm in Rockingham NC. I am getting all my tests done and hoping there is some way that I can beat this insurance. If not, maybe I can find financing for it. I feel like my insurance will pay for RNY but I don't want that. I want the Lap Band.
