Hi all, I was recent referred by my doctor for weight loss surgery and I really want a gastric sleeve. I have finally heard from St George's who want me to follow a Weight loss programme with them before they will consider surgery. Have any of you had this? I'm at the end of my tether and can't go on like this. Considering self funding but can't afford to really and would sorted ASAP. How long were you made to follow a weight loss programme? I feel like I've been on a permanent diet since I was 12 in now 27 and want to start my life. Still waiting on a date for my appointment for this crappy weight loss programme!

Hi both, I also had surgery on 17th! Looks like you're both doing well, I've lost 18lbs now but only 3lbs post op. Was hoping for a bit more but can see a massive difference in the mirror so am happy with that. I've not had a melt down yet but everyday is a learning curve and I also find it hard to get Water down! Good luck!

I still get bubbles and im 8 days out. I find it quite entertaining now although to begin with was painful and worrying.

That's excellent! I am against the bypass, I think it's a bit too extreme. Am thrilled I got the sleeve, I'm off to the doctors shortly to get my stitches out but so far so good! The first few days were uncomfortable but now I'm eating and drinking ok just very small portions. I've lost 15 1/2lbs since starting pre op and am pleased it is slow as I'm a low bmi patient and am worried about sagging. Hopefully they don't make you wait too long! If I could give you one bit of advise is to cut down meal portions about a week before starting pre op so you're not dying of starvation! Saying that though I was full from milk and yogurts and full of energy! -

Each surgeon recommends something different. I was on milk and yogurts pre op but a friend of mine was on chicken and veg. Post op I'm on slim fast/ complan and home made Soups with more milk. I would wait to find out before investing. Good luck with your date. You're one of the Lucky ones to be NHS funded! -

Hello, I'm from london, UK. I had my sleeve done 6 days ago. I paid private as NHS are useless! I've had very little pain and even went shopping yesterday. Best thing I have ever done. Please feel free to fire away with any questions. X -
@@krisstep hi, I find the bubbling quite amusing now. The pain in throat has gone thankfully I assume it was from tubes down throat. I'm back at my own house now and went shopping yesterday. Only for an hour and even met a friend for tea! I feel great! I'm on liquids for 2 weeks so basically Protein shakes x2 then Soup x2 and milk x 3 a day all small quantities but I was told to get my 'food' in over Water atm. I get my clamps out tomorrow which will be a big relief! I am still very tired and have taken to an afternoon nap but is lovely. I'm not back at work until 5th jan so plenty of time to shake the tiredness off and start on solids. Have lost 15 1/2lbs since I started pre op and am pleased with that. I'm a low BMI patient and would rather loose slowly. Hope everybody else is well and Happy Christmas x

@@krisstep phew I thought it was me! I am having a hard time swallowing as well. Just at the back of my throat! At first I thought I had a tablet stuck but maybe it's to do with the anaesthetic?

The gas is so painful. I've managed to sleep through some of mine today. Hoping it's almost gone. I was crippled over earlier! I'm in the UK so we don't have gas x otherwise I would be straight on it.
-
Am in pain mainly from gas and tablets getting stuck in throT. Otherwise all ok. Just very very tired so sleeping a lot but also trying to get fluids in. Home tomorrow :-)

Mine is also today! was supposed to be yesterday! Feeling quite calm considering. Good luck! Hope all goes well x

So gutted got told yesterday my surgery was moved from today 16th December to 17th. Yes only moved by 1 day but I've syked myself up, I'd packed up my car and was just finishing work to drive up. Instead I've wasted a day of my annual leave and am on milk and yogurts for another day. Am so upset and so annoyed. I know it's only 1 day but it makes all the difference. I'd arranged for my mum to take me, she had taken the day off. Now she can't come with me and I have to travel alone a nervous wreck. Was supposed to be called back by my surgeon to explain but nothing. Will call again at 9am and hope I can have it today.

Wow very encouraging! I have my surgery in Tuesday and we have exactly the same HW and both same height! Can't wait for a decent shopping trip in 6 months time.
-
Hi all, booked in for surgery on 16th December. What do you recommend taking with me? Was thinking my laptop (as got to work still), books, toiletries and pj's but anything specific? Also I'm concerned about not wearing knickers, they will give me something to wear won't they?? I hate not wearing any. Also would do you think I could wear non wired crop top, also hate not wearing a bra!

Mine is December 16th in Coventry with Mr Menon. Can't wait!

Thanks for all the replies, I hope to be on my feet fairly quickly! Only way I could get time off is to agree to do light work and respond to emails. My manager is heading off on sabbatical while I am off work so it more about having a handover than working while on leave.

@@Ky89, I think we are around the same age. I'm 27 and like you feel exactly the same about my weight and my lack of confidence affects everything I do. I haven't been out out for about 2 years!! I know this will improve for me when I've had my surgery and lost some weight, I previously lost 5stone with Cambridge diet and felt on top of the world! Count down begins! On a separate note I am thinking of traveling and working in the next year and really want to go to Japan. I'm doing my tefl atm and I hope the wls will boost my confidence to teach, how do you find living there? I would be thinking maximum a year before moving onto somewhere else. Good luck! I can't wait to run with the opportunities and start living!

This is one area I hope improves for me after surgery. Always hated my legs!

Always wanted to wear shorts but never have! Bring on the summer!

Christmas Gastric Sleeve Surgery Booked - December 21st! Anyone else in December?
surrey1987 replied to tenzinblue's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't told anybody I'm having surgery except my mum who is trying to be supportive but just said 'if you come up a few days before we can have a drink to celebrate and a nice meal out' doh!!!! She really doesn't understand so I know where you're coming from. I also live with two girls ones a personal trainer who believes weight will come off with correct nutrition and exercise..... Joy. Maybe we can meet up in NY as we live so close? Hannah X -
