Hey everyone! First off, I wanted to congratulate you all (and myself) for taking such a huge step. I just had my surgery on August 22, 2014 and I'm starting to feel better. On the day of my surgery, I was mostly sedated but I felt pretty horrible. The second and third day were probably the worst, due to the immense amount of gas I had stuck in my abdomen and shoulder... I began taking Gas-X strips on the third day and it helped. I find that walking around and resting on a recliner help me feel most comfortable. The only thing I'm struggling with now is my difficulty sleeping (I no longer want to take narcotics) and I'm having headaches along with the lingering gas issues. However, I had my first bowel movement today and it did help me feel a little better.
Today (day 4)- I had some very soft scrambled eggs (2 eggs- great protein), which I tolerated very well. For lunch, I had about a tablespoon or two of chicken salad with 2 saltine crackers (small bites) and now I feel VERY full- not sick, but full. Although I don't feel nauseas or sick, I think I may be pushing it a bit too quickly. I'm going to go back to only liquids and pureed soups/ soft scrambled eggs until about a week from now.
My brother had the lap band done about six years ago and he has lost so much weight, and kept it off, he's a whole new person.. so it's great to have him under the same roof as moral support.
Any tips or suggestions? I know I need to start my Protein shakes again! I had my last one 2 days pre-op.
