Hi Donna! Welcome to LBT. I haven't regretted getting my band for a second. Good luck with your research, and ask away if you have questions. :eekB:
-
Wow Dee Dee, I'm so sorry you're going through this! Like the others, I'd love to hear more. What exactly is a "dead stomach" and what are your symptoms today? (((HUGS)))
-
Oh, they're so cute! I love it when cats snuggle up together in kitty balls when they sleep. I just assumed from your login name that your name was "Katherine". Now I know better, lol. :eekB:
-
Good morning everyone! Eilene, in my opinion you are restricted just right if you can eat a Whopper Jr and nothing else. Burger King... blech. I used to be a fast food junkie, but since being banded I can't stand it (with the exception of Taco Bell). Mmmmmmmmmmmm... Taco Bell. Hi Sherry! I see you're on here too. What are you up to today? How is the new dishwasher? I love kitchens. DH and I put in new countertops and appliances this past Winter. We're always remodeling something. Betty, doesn't it feel good to get the flower beds weeded? I got my main flower garden cleaned out yesterday, but I have a long way to go with the other beds. I'm going to try to tackle one a day. Do you ever use Preen? It really works to keep the weeds down once you have the area cleaned out (doesn't work on existing weeds). Hope your foot feels better! (((HUGS))) This has been a great weekend so far... Got reacquainted with hubby :eekB: and today we're going to work on the yard. I have 4 loads of laundry awaiting my attention but I think I need another cup of coffee before I tackle that. I don't want to strain anything. Hope you're all enjoying your Sunday!
-
You look 40 lbs thinner and 20 years younger. Congratulations on your success!
-
My DH took care of me and our two children (2 and 5) without any problems at all. Once you're home you'll be napping and asking for the occasional sugar free popsicle... I'm sure he can handle it.
-
Wow, what an adventure! It sounds like you're doing great. Can't wait to see the pictures. Congrats on the size 10!!

Hi Everyone! DH is on his way home from California... I can't wait! I'm looking forward to just sitting down and having a cup of coffee with him. I miss having an adult around. The kids and I have been gardening today. You have to be careful in MI because we can sometimes get frost in May, but I decided to go for it. I transplanted some geraniums and tonight I'm going to plant some baby's breath and cosmos. I have to take it easy with my back, but I figure if I do a little each day it will be okay. No big plans this weekend here... just cleaning out more flower beds and spending time with DH until he leaves for another business trip on Monday. Eilene - enjoy your concert and your sister time! How did you know that everyone in college called me Annie Bonannie? (seriously!) Darcy, have a great weekend at teh cabin! I don't think it's unreasonable to want running water, lol! Do you have any plans to put in a shower? Dianne, enjoy Charlottesville! Sounds like a fun weekend. Can I tag along to Cancun? I wanna come too! Donna, enjoy the beach! Okay, I think I'm officially jealous of everybody's weekend plans now.... Maybe DH and I will have to come up with something more fun than pulling weeds. Ooh, maybe a trip to Home Depot - LMAO!! What a glamourous life... Have a great weekend everyone. :brick:

Hope you're resting and comfy! Welcome to Bandland!! :bananadoggywow: (((HUGS!)))

Yet ANOTHER surgery!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Long post)
Anwyn replied to Rockin' Robyn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Robin, I hope they can get you in asap! I've been through the nighttime reflux and it's absolutely horrible. Any idea when they will do the surgery? If you can't keep liquids down you're going to get dehydrated fast (I know you know that, I'm just worried about you... ). :bananadoggywow: (((HUGS))) -
Oh, I missed you guys! DH is out of town this week and the kids have been keeping me hopping. If I can't concentrate it's just not worth trying to catch up on here. Quick Callie story (my 2 year old): I was on the phone with my mom and thought that the kids were happily watching a video. I had left a stick of butter on the counter to soften. I walked into the family room to find Callie smushing the entire stick into my couch. Sigh. I'm going to sell that girl to the gypsies one of these days... Good thing couch cushions have two sides! :Banane20: Darcy, you're not the only one kicking back with a glass of wine tonight. I bought one of those boxed wines at the store today. I wish that I could reach out and snap you out of what my sister and I call "binge mode". I have been mindlessly stuffing my stomach for the last 5 weeks, and went up 16 lbs on the scale. Man it hurts to type that... For the last 3 days I've been on Slim Fast trying to minimize the damage, but of course I could kick myself. I began exercising 3 days ago too, which is a small miracle. So, what's my rambling point? That it really only takes one good day to get back on track and stop bingeing. I know you can do it too! Donna, it means a lot to me that you opened up to us! I have a hard time opening up too, and even though this is a weight loss support site it's embarrassing to admit when we're eating badly. I hope you're feeling back in control! (((HUGS))) Patty, I'm sorry that the TIVO didn't work out for you. Maybe you should look into the $10/month option so that the up front costs are a little lower. Hope your son is feeling better! Pat, I hope those girls get back in the office for you tomorrow. Isn't that baby about 3 months overdue by now? I hope your tummy is feeling better. Eilene, how's it hangin? Doesn't that boss man ever go out of town? When I get that golf ball feeling next time I'll try your coughing trick. I'm so desperate for restriction I'm almost looking forward to the golfball... WTF?! :bananadoggywow: Mary, it sounds like your court date went pretty well. Don't tell STBX about the shopping spree - he'll want half! :biggrin1: On a serious note, I hope you two can work things out amicably. He may be an a**hole, but he'll always be in your life to some extent with the kids. (((HUGS))) Cindy, thanks for the geese story. It's very appropriate. I have an idea - let's fly over the houses of the ex's and the soon-to-be-ex's and drop some bombs! What a visual... Sherry, how are you feeling? I hope that headache didn't turn into a migraine. Dianne, you have a smart pup there! I can't even get my kids to ring the doorbell when they want to come in. :fruitsex: We have one of those doggie fences too. Do you still have flags in the yard? That might help them get the hang of it. Beanie, I'm glad you're having a nice quiet day. It sounds like those are few and far between with your job. Enjoy your break! Betty, how are you doing today? I'm so sorry that your family is going through such a tough time. I'll be thinking of you all. (((HUGS))) I really hope I haven't forgotten anybody because my hand is cramping up from all this typing. And my arms are exhausted from all this cyber hugging too! That's okay - they need toning. :Banane57: Love you guys!

Phew - I'm not crazy. I thought Katherine was great too! And Elliott and Chris were wonderful too. I think Taylor, Paris, and Kellie deserve to be in the bottom 3, but my prediction is Elliott, Katherine, and Paris with Paris going home... but I'll jump for joy if it's Kellie.

Where are all the Michigan people at??
Anwyn replied to Cinnaberry's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Josette, You might want to give Henry Ford Hospital a call... I'll tell you up front that they've only done about 25 lapbands, but they've done many RNY's and Dr. Carlin & Dr. Ganaw are very experienced laparoscopic surgeons... My out of pocket was only about $350 total. I can't remember exact amounts, but here's an estimate: Psychiatrist - 1 visit, $150 Nutritionist - 1 visit, $80 Exercise Specialist - 1 visit, $80 There is a support group, but there's no fee and attendance isn't required. Make sure that you are clear about wanting the Lapband surgery so that they send you to the right contact person. You can find info here: http://www.henryfordhospital.com/body.cfm?id=39922 I hope this helps! If you have any questions feel free to PM me. -
I'm so confused... did they talk about the band on todays show? This thread is from Summer 1995.

Hi MaryHag, you can't see a slip with a normal x-ray - you'd need to do a barium swallow in order to get a view of the stomach. I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that you've slipped (though I completely understand why that would be your fear) How severe is the reflux? If the heartburn is mild to moderate, I would go in for a small unfill to see if it resolves the issue. Good luck - and keep us posted!

Good morning everyone! Today was the first day back to school for my son after Spring break. It was nice having him home, but I'm also going to enjoy getting back into the daily routine. DH is traveling this week, so it should be quiet around here. Cindy, I'm sorry to hear that your FIL is sick. (((HUGS))) to you and your entire family. Betty, I get tired just thinking about your day. You need a vacation so that I can relax! I'm glad you were able to get out for a ride yesterday! Pat, how was supper? I'm too much of a princess to go fishing so unless it's caught by the Gorton's fisherman I don't eat it. Wait, does tuna count? I was so glad to hear that your son was allowed to see the kids. I suppose it's just a day at a time right now for him. Will they set up some sort of temporary custody arrangement or does he have to wait for a court date? Eilene, did you make tuna casserole? I love that stuff. My DH won't let me make it - he had too much of it while growing up. Patty, sounds like you had a great weekend! ((HUGS)) Beanie, will work slow down for you now that the closing deadline has past? Congratulations on the restriction! Two weeks till my fill - woo hoo! Sherry, did you spend the weekend riding? Time to go shopping for buttless chaps - LOL!! Kat, you're probably in the recovery room right now! Hugs for a speedy recovery. Keep us posted on your progress. Dianne, Paula, Mary & Darcy - (((HUGS))) What are you folks up to this week? Well, time to get moving and fold some laundry. Have a great day everyone.

:happybday2: Happy Birthday Estela!!

Where in Canada are you? If you're near Detroit at all, you might want to look into Henry Ford Hospital. Last I heard they were talking about coming up with a self-pay option. I think they were going to price the surgery at about $13K. They're about 15 miles from the Ambassador Bridge. Good luck to you!

I'm bored! Somebody come chat with me or I'll be forced to go to bed.
-
Hi Debra, Welcome to LBT! Congratulations on your decision to get the lapband. This site is a great resource. Where are you going to be banded?
-
Hi Wanda! I don't know what I'd do without the help and encouragement on this site. Welcome to LBT!!
-
How is everyone doing? I'm sorry - I've been ignoring this thread because it's been too depressing to watch the scale go up and see how far I am from Onederland. I am reading and cheering you guys on though! I haven't given up, but I need a fill sooooooo badly. You guys are doing great - keep up the good work!!
-
I started out with very small bites of moist chicken and it went down fine. I've never had trouble with ground beef, but steak is difficult to chew enough. It will take some trial and error on your part because everyone is so different. Good luck!

A LOVE STORY: only you guys will truly understand.

I am so excited for you (and as an old married broad, even a little bit jealous!!). You've done the hard part by working through your issues and deciding that you're worth this. My suggestion is to treat yourself to a facial and a new haircut so that you look great and feel confident! Good luck - and keep us posted on your search for Mr. Right! -
Welcome to LBT! Keep reading - there's lots of great info to soak up. Careful though... it's easy to develop a potentially serious disorder known as LBTA (lap band talk addiction).
