Hi everyone! Betty, I stayed up too late last night too. I'm dragging today - time for a cup of coffee. Was that the last night of the playoffs? Donna, congrats on your win last night! We should have had a Jersey Chat betting pool, lol. Kat, (((HUGS))). I'm sorry that DH has to wait so long for the surgery, but thank God they found that clot so that they could treat it before the surgery. It sounds like he is in good hands. Mary, I hope everything is okay! Sounds like you're having a bad day. Dianne, have a great trip!! Eilene, how's it hanging chickie? Gotta go. Somebody let a twister into the house last night and I have to clean this chit up before the sitter gets here tonight. Have a great day everyone. :grouphug:

    Almost supportive mom...

I had a very similar situation - a skinny mom who just didn't get it. She called me every other day for weeks before the surgery with a new diet idea for me. It was all done out of love, but I still wanted to scream. Ironically, she's addicted to cigarettes but can't comprehend how somebody can be addicted to food. Now that the weight is coming off she's become much more supportive.

Hi everyone! No time for personals, but I have to tell Darcy - - I love your hair! It's short, but still young. Does that make sense, lol? My stomach is healing up quickly after all the pokes. I finally got my butt up onto the elliptical machine today and exercised for 40 minutes. I've decided to focus on exercise until I get my restriction back. It's after midnight so I'm off to bed. Tomorrow is my 9th wedding anniversary. We're going to do the usual dinner and a movie - I know, we're so exciting. Have a great night everyone!
  4. Penni, please tell her that I'm thinking of her and sending her my best wishes. Beaumont is a great hospital - I'm sure they're taking good care of her.
  5. I went in for a fill last week and after too many needle pokes to count we went down to fluroscopy and it was determined that my port has completely flipped over. I'm having port revision surgery in the middle of July. If any of you have had a port revision, can you tell me what to expect? He said it would be done with a local but other than that I don't know the specifics. How long did it take you to recover? Another surgery. :phanvan I was their only band patient to experience slippage, and now I'm their first flipped port. :faint:

Hi everyone! Finally, a little piece and quiet! DH just packed up the pop up camper and left with the 3 oldest kids for the weekend. My sister and I are going to take the youngest two up tomorrow evening and spend the night. DD (who is 2 1/2 ) was heartbroken when they left without her. My son would have been oblivious to it at this age, but she completely understands and she's none too pleased! Except for a little bruising I think I'm fully recovered from my fill ordeal. Donna, you wouldn't have thought I was an inspiration when I was blubbering on the x-ray table, lol. I counted the poke holes in the shower - 42 pokes! Can you believe that chit? Good thing they're going to give me a fill during the port op or I'd probably tell them to take the damn thing out. Donna, that pasta sauce sounds yummy! I've never tried making sauce myself. My mom always did it, but we're a Ragu family, lol. A six mile bike ride?! I don't think my butt would ever recover. Good for you. Sherry, I've come to terms with getting the port op. It sucks, but I can't give up now. Right now I'm trying to focus on losing 10 lbs between now and July 17th. I can't stand the thought of another month of standing still or (God forbid) gaining more weight. Your son sounds like a charmer. Something tells me he's going to get whatever he's buttering you up for. :biggrin1: Hope your head feels better! Eilene, you're probably absolutely right about the exercise class being the culprit. DD may have a minor ligament sprain and it's making her achey. Glad to hear you're finally getting a sunny day! I get cranky when I go too long without sun. Kat, how is DH feeling today? Hang in there - taking care of a cranky DH can try anyone's patience. (((HUGS))) Darcy, how are you doing today? You probably aren't having much fun carting around a monitor this weekend. We are Borg, you will be assimilated. Cindy, thanks for telling me that it's basketball! That's what I would have guessed, but I truly didn't know. DH played football in highschool but doesn't watch any sports at all. I consider it one of his most endearing qualities, lol. DS is enrolled in soccor this Fall (which I played in highschool). I'm sure we'll get more into the different sports as he grows. Beanie, Pat, Mary, Dianne, Betty... hi there! What are you up to today? Time to clean up the house. The basement is full of toys and it looks like a twister went through there. Hope you're all enjoying your Saturday!

    My band was removed

Wow Jayme - to have such a great attitude after what you've been through is truly inspiring. Please keep us posted on your progress. There's a whole forum on here for people who have lost their band but haven't given up the fight. ((((HUGS))))

Adult Content XXX - Intimate problems

Regarding the oral sex issue... What a man eats and drinks affects the taste of his cum. I just read a big article about this (my DH is always sending me weird stuff) and it said to have your DH drink lots of pineapple juice the day before. Who knows - it couldn't hurt!

    Thirtysomething's

Hi everyone! I'm 33 and I've been married for 9 years. I have a 5 year old son and a 2 1/2 year old daughter. I'm a stay at home mom. I live in Michigan, about an hour west of Detroit. I've been having some complications with my band but I'd do it all over again if I had to. Nice to meet you all! Mini-me - I'm with you! Anybody lucky enough to still be in their twenties deserves a little harassment. Let me just don my Zorro mask... :bandit Okay! Meet you behind the Support Forum at midnight. You bring the toilet paper, I'll bring the rotton eggs!
  10. I've always been a little dubious of the assertion that we bandsters should avoid carbonation, but after seeing this I'm convinced. Yikes! :biggrin1: http://eepybird.com/dcm1.html

    Job interview update

I think you're a shoe in, but I'll be sending lots of positive vibes your way just in case!
  12. Does that $500 go towards nutrition counseling or support groups or something similar? The amount contracted with UHC is for the actual procedure. He can't charge you that extra $500 for the procedure, but he can set up requirements under the guise of properly preparing you for the behavioral changes needed after surgery. From what I've seen on here, it's not an unusual practice.

Hi everyone! Patty, I'm so sorry that you don't have your approval yet. I feel your pain. I could have been banded in 12/04 but because of unnecessary office screw ups it didn't happen until 7/05. It WILL happen for you - try to hang in there! Mary, I have hunter green carpet in my workout room (tiny bedroom that used to be the nursery). We painted it a pale gold color and it turned out really pretty. How old is your son? Will the walls be covered in Teletubbies pictures or half naked women and Metallica? LOL Darcy, I hope your testing goes well! No double caf expresso shots for you today. I guess this means no trip to the cabin this weekend? Eilene, keep us posted on your little girl. What exactly are they x-raying? Sending positive thoughts your way, along with a big hug because I know you're worrying. Dianne, I have back problems too (2 surgeries to repair herniations a little while back). We bought one of those Select Comfort mattresses about a year ago and it has really helped me. It was pricey (about 2K for a king I think), but worth every penny. Becky, you have a great attitude! I need to get over to fitday and start a journal. Cindy and Donna, I have NO IDEA who the Heat and the Mav's are (I'm guessing basketball...?), but watching you two duke it out has been a lot of fun! Have fun watching the game this weekend! Okay, I gotta run. My sister is here with her 3 kids so we have 5 little ones running around. It's like Animal House in here. Have a great weekend everyone!
  14. People who think it's okay to make fun of fat people should be disemboweled, then drawn and quartered. That's after hot pokers are shoved into their eyes of course. Muhahahahahahaha.

    Slipped band too

I was banded in July 2005 and my band slipped in March of 2006. I asked my doctor about the chance of it slipping it again, and he said that it shouldn't be any higher than for anyone else (between 1 and 3%). I believe that my band slipped because I was too tight. This time around the doctor is taking my fills very slowly. It's been really hard. I haven't had any restriction since March and my weight has jumped up. But, I'm grateful that I have another band (some people who slip aren't given a second band). I'm also fortunate because my insurance covered everything. Good luck with your decision and with the rest of your pregnancy! What is your due date?

    Old Timer's History

Thank you for taking the time to share your story. Will they also be performing a barium swallow? It sounds like a slipped band to me, but my band slipped so I'm sure that colors my perception. Good luck today - let us know how the endoscopy goes!

Hi everyone! First of all, thanks everyone for the words of support. I needed it! I promise not to stay away again. Sadly, today was a complete and utter trainwreck. He poked me so many times I lost track, so we finally headed down to fluroscopy. After poking me many, many more times he came to the conclusion that my port is flipped. So..... time for port revision surgery!! Really, if it didn't involve needles and pain it would almost be funny. I'm scheduled for July 17th. It's just a local so it shouldn't be too big of a deal. He said he'd give me a fill while he's in there, so that's a small plus. After the initial surprise I'm feeling positive. My sister is here to stay with me for a few days and we're going to work out and watch our food. I'm not going to allow myself to gain one more pound dammit! I'll catch up on the posts and do personals later. Love you guys!

Hi Everyone! Pat, the truth is I haven't posted much because when I'm stuffing my face the last place I want to visit is LBT. I've been feeling like a major failure and the scale is inching upward every day. I know - how stupid, right? Here you guys are for support and I just want to bury my head in a hole. Fortunately, tomorrow I get another fill. If I don't get restriction I might just scream. Okay, gotta go eat dinner. Yeah, at 9:30 at night. We're on a crazy schedule right now, but it'll be back to liquids tomorrow so I won't have to worry about it for a while. Hugs everyone! Wish me luck tomorrow morning - I'm hoping for one poke this time!
  19. Good luck Betty! You're going to do great.

    Finally Banded!

Glad to hear that your recovery is going well! I was on liquids for several days and had to do a bowel prep before surgery so constipation wasn't an issue for me. It could just be gas pressure. If that's the case, a lot of people recommend Gas-x. Welcome to Bandland!

    I'm new- Hello

Welcome to LBT Kathy and Barb! You'll both be in bandland before you know it.

HELP! Will insurance cover ER trip?

I'm so glad you're on the mend! Feel better soon. (((HUGS)))
  23. Josette, I don't remember which day of the week I was banded but I was one of those people who needed a full week before I felt up to doing much. I was tired all the time, and even needed a nap through week two. I know that there are people on here who were shopping the day after banding, but you probably want to give yourself a little extra time off in case you need it. Martha - howdy! I'm right down the road from you in Pinckney. Where are you being banded? I'm not sure how my fills get billed. Since my doc doesn't use fluroscopy I think they just bill it as an office visit. My insurance covers them completely once I reach my deductible.

Vines, I'm so glad your Mother is doing better. Time to concentrate on yourself now. What is your next step at the new clinic? (((HUGS)))

Hi everyone! I finally have a little time to catch up on personals. Betty, what fun - thanks for posting pictures!! Your home is just beautiful. I wanna come and play in the pool! I think all of my flowers are finally planted. I'll take some pics and post them when more of my flowers are in bloom. How is your foot? It sounds like you may need an insert in your shoe to help the arch heal up. Hope it feels better soon! Sherry, your son is a doll! Today's the big day - did you get your new bike yet? Do you and DH have any big road trips planned for the Summer? Beanie, Just between you and me, I think you have a very healthy attitude about weight loss. Being able to let it go for a week and enjoy yourself is important for long term success. Enjoy your vacation! Eilene, I hope your DD feels better soon. :sick Poor little munchkin. Good luck getting back on track this week. I'm hungry every 5 minutes too, so I feel your pain. I'm getting a fill on Wednesday - hopefully it does the trick! Patty, I hope you're having luck staying out of the heat! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this is the week you hear about the surgery. (((HUGS))) Darcy, that picture is so cool! It looks like it came out of a magazine. Dianne, I hope your back is feeling better! Mary, how are you? I'm not sure what visitation etiquette is, but I say if you want to call your kids while they're away go ahead and do it as often as you like. Whatever it takes to make you feel comfortable while they're away, right? For those of you with back problems, have you ever tried an inversion table? I just got one. It's basically a table that flips upside down to relieve the pressure on your spine. A friend of mine swears by his, so I figured I'd give it a shot. I'll let you know if it was worth the $200. The UPS man gave me the funniest look when he delivered it - pretty sure he thought it was some sort of sex sling, LOL! It's the last week of school for DS. I can't wait! We overslept this morning because we were all up too late this weekend. DD and I are off to run errands. Hope everyone is having a great Monday!
