Okay, this may be a LITTLE childish, but I'd go into your kitchen at work and shake the Hell out of every can of pop the next time a shipment comes in. You can always say "I guess it was a bumpy ride in the truck"... It'll keep you away, and think of the satisfaction of seeing dear Erin with a sticky shirt all day long.

Hang in there sweetie! My heart goes out to you and we're all sending big hugs your way. You CAN make it through this. It's just like going through the surgery. You take it one day at a time and one day soon you'll wake up and realize that you feel so much better!

If you can find the time, I suggest taking a beginner yoga class. I started one two weeks ago, and at the end of the hour I'm stress free. It's a class geared towards older people who are out of shape or recovering from an injury. If you can find a similar class in your area I highly recommend it! Just a word of warning because I'm worried about you - valium is a very strong muscle relaxer. Don't take it at work if you're driving home. It stays in the system for at least 8 hours...

I dunno where all this energy came from, but ...

That's so cool that you were able to garden for 4 hours! Working outside is great exercise... I started taking a yoga class two weeks ago. I've always wanted to try yoga before, but I was too self-conscious. I'm feeling so much better about myself that I decided to give it a go. It's a very gentle class (mostly stretching). I still have to alter some of the moves because my stomach gets in the way. Fortunately, she teaches the class with the lights off! -
Congratulations Jessiebear! I'm so proud of you!! Tackling your weight and smoking at the same time... that's ambition! Can I give you my mom's phone number so that you can tell her that it IS possible to quit smoking?

I personally didn't have to see a pulmonologist. It could have to do with your medical history. At any rate, I like the idea that they're being as thorough as possible so I say go without complaint. Good luck with your surgery!

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. I am thinking of you and sending hugs your way.

Thanks for sharing Cindy!! Great NSV...

I think you should go in to find out how much fill you have in your band. From other threads I gather that it can slowly disappear for some reason. You may have less in there than you think. I'm not sure if getting another fill will make the heartburn worse - I would think that's a sign of too much fill, so maybe a trip in to see the doc is in order either way. These bands are great, but they're so fickle! Good luck!

Congratulations Parvati! A milestone like that calls for a day at the spa!

Good luck with your fills today ladies! I spent the week before my first fill eating whatever I felt like, so be proud of yourself for limiting your "last supper" to one day! Now that I have restriction I can barely eat one piece of pizza without the crust, so don't worry that you're going to be eating like that in the future. That's why a band that is adjusted properly is so great! Teresa gave you some great advice. I was told it would only take 2 days or so to transition back to solids and it took closer to a week. Transition slowly so you don't PB like I did.

Good luck at the doctor's today! Get better soon!!!

Starting Weight: 255.5 9/19 weigh in: 252 9/26 weigh in: 250 Down 5.5 lbs total! I'm feeling really positive right now. I don't think I put in much effort this past week and I still had a 2 lb loss. I love my new restriction! Good luck this week everyone!

Congratulations to you both!! A few weeks and you'll be turning cartwheels...

My prayers and thoughts are with you. Stay safe!!

Yup - almost everyone says that the port site is the most painful part of the recovery. I hope you feel better soon. Congratulations on your surgery!

I don't have any advice on this one - I'm pretty laid back - but when the reigning "sexpert" posts a thread titled "anal" I have to look!!! I feel pretty silly now. I guess I have a dirty mind...

Evening Eating - How do you stop the cravings/temptation?
Anwyn replied to Parvathi's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm a nighttime eater too. The only thing that has ever helped me is doing cross stitch, or some other needlework project. When I'm working I have to make sure my hands are clean, so I can't snack. It works pretty well, but my daughter wants to sit on my lap every time I pick it up, so I haven't been working on it lately. It makes me feel a little less guilty to watch tv when I multitask... -
Would you convert to Bypass if...
Anwyn replied to DeLarla's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Kim, you reminded me of something that the head nurse said during the gastric bypass orientation I attended. She said flat out "you will need an abortion if you get pregnant after the bypass". She said the baby would be malnourished. Yikes! I don't care what your beliefs are about the "A" word - that would be a no-win situation. -
I'm sorry - I wish I had some words of wisdom for you! I never experienced that. Hopefully some others can help. I hope you feel better soon!!

Kind of hard to answer from your question. Are you on liquids? Is the pain primarily after you eat? The first few days of transition from liquids to mushy I definitely felt a knot every time I ate, but it passed after a few minutes as long as I ate very slowly. You may want to call your doctor if you're in serious discomfort. Otherwise, I'd give it a few days and go back to liquids for a few days if you're having trouble with mushies. Good luck with your recovery!

How exciting! Sounds like you've definitely hit the sweet spot. Good luck with your continued success!

Would you convert to Bypass if...
Anwyn replied to DeLarla's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was sent to a gastric bypass orientation by mistake. Thinking they would get around to discussing the band, we stayed. Afterwards my husband said there is no *bleeping* way I'd ever want you to have that surgery. After hearing the pros and cons, I completely agreed. The only person I know who has had it has gained all her weight back. The reversibility of the band is one of the main reasons I chose WLS. I'd get another band if at all possible. -
Have they actually submitted the paperwork to your insurance company, or is this a quote from your policy? You never know how they will interpret your individual case. You have 2+ comorbities and a family history. Do you have a family doctor? He may be willing to write a letter stating that you and he have been working on your weight problem. Good luck, and don't give up! It may be a long road to approval, but you have to be tenacious!

I beat the 200 pound demons ....on to the demons of the 100's!!! LOL!!!
Anwyn replied to Jammin & Losin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Great job Jamie! What an inspiration!! I was also married 8 years ago, and I dieted down to 190 for the wedding. I haven't been under 200 lbs since. Pretty sure I gained 20 lbs on the honeymoon (ha ha)...
