How about liposuction PRE-banding?
Anwyn replied to makena2's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I think you'll continue to see an improvement... I remember reading once that fat tends to come off in a certain order, and the face was the first place listed. Good luck with your surgery! -
He is too cute!! I'm glad I don't have to change his diaper though...
-
I have never once in my life been glad that I have small boobs (B cup)... until I read this thread tonight. Nipples drying up and falling off?! EWWWWWWWW!!! Ducking to avoid shoes and large brassieres...
-
Good thing you followed up with the doctor. Feel better soon!!

Good luck with your surgery! This website has been so helpful for me. When I feel alone in bandland I just start reading threads and I realize that we're all going through the exact same thing. As far as that saggy skin, I'll take it any day because it means that all of my fat cells are shrinking.

I'm still struggling with the emotional eating. I flat out can't do it, and I get angry and frustrated at times. The feeling usually passes pretty quickly and is soon followed with relief that I didn't blow it. It's at these times during the calm after the storm that I'm most grateful to have my band. I guess it's a love/hate relationship...

I hate to break this to you, but when I was at exactly the same point as you post surgery I went 8 or 9 days on liquids and didn't drop a pound. It was a major bummer since, like you, I was drinking 3 Protein shakes a day and that's about it. I'm not sure why it happens, I just know it sucks, lol. Hang in there! Once you get on that scale and see a loss every day it's pretty hard to accept that it's not all going to come off at a rate of 7 lbs a week. It seems like the first few months of being a bandster are just wait, wait, and wait some more (wait for mushies, wait for solids, wait for a fill, etc). The good news is, three months from now you'll be seeing a huge improvement and you'll forget all about the waiting.

Good vibes coming your way!!! Have a great surgery and a speedy recovery!

Greetings and Salutations!

Hi Baron - Welcome to LBT! You have a great attitude about dealing with the dreaded insurance issue. Sounds like you know how to get what you want, so I'm sure you'll be in bandland in no time! -
what have you done because you were embarrased of your weight?
Anwyn replied to lovecats85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh no RisibleGirl! Get thee to the gyno pronto!! You want to make sure you're around to enjoy your svelte new body, right? I was thinking about this thread today when I ordered McDonalds... It's funny, but even though I have a lot of weight left to lose I no longer feel panicky placing an order for a bunch of food with only one drink. My husband is the only one who drinks soda, so today I ordered a value meal with a drink for him, chicken and fries for two kids, and a chicken sandwich for me. If I was ordering that pre-band I would have ordered at least one extra drink. God forbid they think that was all for me! Now, it doesn't even cross my mind because I know they could care less. It helps that I know I'll only be able to eat at most half of my sandwich. What a difference a band makes... -
I'm glad your fill went well - it's pretty scary going in the first time. You're going to love having a fill! My doctor also did my fill in the office and I couldn't believe how easy and painless it was. Some people swear by fills using fluroscopy, but my doc thinks they're a waste of money. I was a little disappointed because I thought it would be neat to see the band on screen, but it went great so I'm not complaining. Congratulations on your loss so far!

Bad Laura! No, just kidding!! We all have slip ups, so forgive yourself and move on. That kind of finger food is one of my biggest downfalls. I've consumed my body weight in pizza rolls over the years... Next time I would drink Water or ice tea and hold off as long as you can. Then, make a plate in the quantity that you would eat at a normal meal. Eat a full meal and avoid drinking and you should be good to go for a few hours. Sure, it's not health food, but it's okay to eat that stuff once in a while. Once you're full you'll stop obsessing about the buffet table. Also, try to make healthier choices during the day so that you can keep your overall calories in check.

Congratulations on the weight loss and getting those clothes out of storage! Don't you just hate those stupid doctor's scales? My doctor always weighs me at least 5 lbs more than the scale at home. It drives me nuts! Of course, it could be because I'm stark naked and it's morning when I weigh here, but it still gets me mad! That is sooo exciting about the jeans. There's nothing like fitting into clothes that you never thought you'd get to wear again. I know I have several 18's in my hope chest (and I am hoping, because I just recently got into a 22). It'll be a while before I'm squeezing into them, but I can't wait. Keep those hips holstered - they sound dangerous! By the way, I love your maniacal laugh... eheheheheheheheh!!!

Can't help you with the doc, but I can still eat pizza (and I do!). Thin crust is a little easier on my stomach, and I can't eat the crust. The good thing is, I can only eat one piece instead of half a large. Some people can't tolerate bread at all, some have no problems. Sorry - I wish I could guarantee that you'll be able to have it, but it's a wait and see kind of thing. Good luck with your research!

If you want to see your signature without posting to a thread, there's a "preview" button at the bottom of your screen when you edit your signature. Isn't it fun changing your ticker to show new weight loss?

My nutritionist also told me to eat 3 meals plus 2 snacks. You never know - maybe it will kick your metabolism in the butt. Good luck!!

Flower, if your goal is to lose 100 lbs per month you're going to be sorely disappointed... Try to concentrate on where you want to be a year from now. Yes, I admit that I'd like to be one of the bandsters who lose 100 lbs in my first year, but I'm also going to be very grateful if I can lose 5 lbs a month and get down 60. I'm already down a few sizes and my knees and back are improving too. Hang in there!

How long have you been banded? Are you exercising? If not, you may want to kick up your exercise program. And if you are exercising, you're probably gaining muscle. I would try writing down your food intake for a few days to make sure that you're concentrating on getting in hard Protein instead of empty calories. If you are eating the right foods, it may be time for a fill. Good luck!

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. There is nothing like the love you get from a good pup.

I wasn't completely back to normal until 2 weeks out. It gets a little better every day. Some people are walking around shopping the day after, some take a few weeks to recover. Try to get a few more days off this week if you can. Feel better soon!

what have you done because you were embarrased of your weight?
Anwyn replied to lovecats85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ooohhh - good thread. 1. I've ordered an extra drink in the fast food drive thru so that the workers wouldn't know that I was eating all of the food myself. I'm also guilty of hiding the wrappers from numerous extra cheeseburgers and mcchicken sandwiches... 2. I'm have a nervous habit of constantly tugging at the back of my shirt so that it won't cling to my butt (as if my butt magically disappears when I pull my shirt out a little). 3. I've sat crammed into a booth that was cutting into my stomach rather than ask for a table at a restaurant. I've also wedged myself into small chairs and endured the sides cutting into my hips rather than bring attention to myself by asking for a different chair. -
Suddenly conflicted over getting banded....
Anwyn replied to adorkbl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Great job losing weight and staying on track for so long! That's a huge accomplishment, and it definitely shows that you are ready for a lifestyle change. My instinct is to tell you to go ahead and get the band. It will help you so much with the hunger. And, even if you do decide to splurge, the band will keep it in check so that it doesn't turn into a binge. One thing I've noticed is that even if I have a few bad days, I maintain my weight. It's almost like it has taken the upswing out of the yo-yo diet. It shouldn't have to be hard to lose weight, and for me (so far at least) it seems almost effortless. I'm sure I'll be singing a different tune when I have less to lose, but that's okay! And, it's totally compatible with getting pregnant, so you can just get an unfill when you get pregnant and then start losing again after you have a baby. I know it's a tough decision. You've been reading this board, so you know there are complications and frustrations. It's no magic bullet, but I think it could be a great tool to help you reach your goal. Good luck with your decision! -

Good luck tomorrow Janet! I was a nervous wreck too, but it will be over before you know it and you'll be on your way home for your first day of clear liquids. Yum!

The band represents control and hope for you. When you put it that way, I don't think any financial sacrifice is too great. You deserve to put yourself first and get a new band.
