Thank you everyone for your words of commiseration and support. I feel sorry for any bandster who doesn't know about this website because I don't know what I'd do without you guys! I really needed the cyber-hugs today... Ryan, I'm definitely an emotional eater, and sometimes I just don't know how to deal with it. When I think back on those two meals where I PB'd I realize that I was nervous at the first meal and upset about something for the second meal. I think I will take your advice Keri, and take a short walk to de-stress before eating. More fun than a PB, that's for sure! Thanks again. Just knowing I'm not the only one experiencing these emotions really helps. Anne

MY PCP IS CAUSING ME MAJOR ISSUES my vent
Anwyn replied to JCJSTL's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Good job standing up for yourself and getting what you want! -
Hang in there - I know how scared I was once I made the decision to have surgery, but you will get through it and you won't believe how much better you feel just a few weeks out. Think of it as a gift that you're giving yourself. You deserve to be healthy. Which is scarier - having a fairly simple laparoscopic surgery or going through the rest of your life in pain?
-
They put us on liquids to shrink the liver before surgery. I was on liquid for 7 days, and it was awful but I made it through without cheating. Of course, I also dropped 7 pounds so it was worth it! Tomorrow is another day. Take it a day at a time and you'll get through it. Everyone gets a headache for the first few days - I think it's from the sugar withdrawal. Hang in there!

You're going to do great next week! Last minute nerves are all a part of the process. We all have them, but it will be over before you know it. Have a speedy recovery!

I'm a 45. I don't see it - I think I fall somewhere more in the 31 to 40 range description.

Yes, I could eat a regular "pre-band" meal once I was about 4 weeks out from surgery. As soon as I had a fill my restriction kicked in and I'm now eating much, much less. You're not stretching your pouch because the food is going right on through to your larger stomach. Hang in there guys - you'll feel a lot better after you get a fill.

I expected 2 out of 10 and I got a 9. I must be a good guesser...

Congratulations on your new job! Way to persevere...

Happy Birthday!!

I was taking a fairly large capsule before my first fill and I didn't have trouble getting it through. My doctor said that capsules dissolve fairly quickly. Maybe try taking it with tea or coffee to get it dissolving... Good luck! That's the worst...

Thanks for the pics - you look AMAZING!! You're an inspiration to all of us. Good luck jumping off that plateau!

I need some serious advice/buttkicking
Anwyn replied to Kelliebelly's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Winding up foot for a buttkickin'... Just kidding! It's normal to have some ups and downs, but you're doing great! It is so hard to get back on track once you get in that junk food mode. You're going to feel so much better once you get just one good day under your belt. Eat your hard Protein first, don't drink with your meals, try try try to get a workout in. You can do it!! Hopefully that fill will kick in a little more. Good luck! -
Starting Weight: 255.5 9/19 weigh in: 252 9/26 weigh in: 250 10/3 weigh in: 250 10/10 weigh in: 246.5 10/17 weigh in: 243 10/24 weigh in: 242.5 10/31 weigh in: 239.5 Down 16 so far. Time to revise the goal from 25 lbs to 20. I don't care - it's just nice to see it going down! Happy Halloween everyone!

I don't think it's milk specifically, any fluid will do... I just find that if I take a big drink during a meal it creates an unbearable pressure in the pouch. I think any fluid pushes the food towards the stoma fast. That's going to do one of two things - cause a PB or push the food through which kinda defeats the purpose of the band.
-
Congratulations on your surgery! I find that walking around really helps when I have a burp "brewing".

Hi Madonna! Congratulations on getting back on track. This site can be so helpful - I think you'll really like it here. I've only been banded for 3 months so I'm probably not a qualified coach, but feel free to PM me if you want to vent. Don't forget - you are down almost 40 pounds, and that's a great accomplishment! All it takes is a few days of doing good and you'll feel like you never strayed. Good luck!

It's actually called a PB ("productive burp"), and yup - you had one! It doesn't necessarily mean that your band is too tight. More likely, you were eating too quickly and not chewing your food thoroughly. Also, unless you were taking very small sips of the milk I'll bet that contributed to the problem. I try to choose healthy foods most of the time, but I've also done my fair share of indulging. I do consistently follow the "Protein first, then veggies, then carbs" rule at meals. When I do this there usually isn't much room for the junk.

Let me introduce myself!

Welcome!! -
Oh Kare, I'd like to type some comforting words here but I'm too busy laughing... Congrats on fitting into that skirt by the way - I'll bet you looked beautiful!

Hmm Jacqui... maybe we can start renting out our 2 year olds to help people get exercise. I know I just did about 1000 toe touches picking up the toys she spread all over the house... Butterfly, you'll definitely see better results if you exercise, and yes you will tone up even if there is some padding on top! Your clothing size will shrink faster too, which is always a plus. I had to see an exercise specialist before surgery, and he recommended walking or Water aerobics at first. I don't think you're supposed to do anything with weights or resistance until you're 6 weeks out of surgery, but after that I think you can go for it. Vines has a good point too - you might want to try a visit with a personal trainer if it's been a long time since you worked out. There's nothing worse than getting all geared up just to get injured. On a little side note, I have always despised walking for exercise because I get bored but I got an iPod Shuffle and now I listen to music while I walk. It's not bulky like a walkman. It's actually makes me look forward to my walks. Go figure... My point here is, try to find something that's enjoyable for you and you'll be much more likely to stick with it.

Margo, that is such great news! I've been reading this thread and thinking about you every day. I'm so glad to hear that you are feeling better.
