Good morning everyone! I'm just having a quick cup of coffee before I have to pick up my sister-in-law at the airport. I get so nervous when I'm driving at the airport. One of those little phobias I guess, but it will be fine. Tonight, DH and I have a babysitter. I'm trying to decide if I should cancel... the kids are still coughing some. Do you ever stop being contagious with a cold? Because I really want to go out, lol. Can anyone suggest a good movie? Beanie, don't go too overboard with the food for your liquid stage. I had almost no appetite. I don't know what I was thinking... I bought one of those Costco sized containers of beef bouillon cubes. Can I ship you some, lol? I think I used 2 of them, so that leaves me with 998 left. In all seriousness though, I have an unopened jar of unflavored Unjury protein powder. It's really good as far as protein powders go, but I prefer to get my protein with real food. It's just sitting in the cupboard, and I'd be happy to ship it to you - just PM me your address if you want it. I may pack it in boullion cubes though... Betty, I'm glad to hear that you're finally getting the rain that you need! No riding out on the bikes today though, eh? Do you and DH make cross country trips too? That would be a lot of fun... My dad always had motorcycles, but he would never let his little girls anywhere near them. I'm 32, and he still wouldn't like it, lol. Patty, I hope things will settle down for you and your family soon. Give it a few weeks - I'll bet you'll be feeling so much more settled in at school. Have fun garage sale-ing today! I'm jealous, We don't have any garage sales in Michigan this time of year. Time to go to the airport - Pat, Cindy, Zan, Sherry, Ira, Paula, Eilene, hope you're all having a great day! Sunsett, I hope everything is okay. Please post when you're feeling up to it.

We can throw up, but I personally do everything I can to avoid it. I keep a supply of Phenerghen suppositories on hand (an anti-nausea medication that your doctor can supply). I've had the flu once since getting banded, and they were a life saver.

I hear you! You've lost a LOT of weight in a short time. I was banded right about the same time, and I'm going through the same thing. I still grab for the size 22/24's in my closet, and there are many 3X shirts that I have yet to put in the eBay pile. It's not that I think I'll gain weight back, it's that I still see myself as that size. I've stalled on the weight loss this past month, and I've come to the conclusion that my brain needed a break to catch up with my body. It'll be interesting to read the responses from the more experienced bandsters because I've been wondering the same thing myself... Will weight always be an obsession for us? Cause I'm sooooo sick of thinking about it. By the way - I think getting kicked out of Lane Bryant is one of the coolest NSV's I've ever read! You're doing a great job!

I think I'm a lot like Leatha (whose post made me cry but the way! Good for you for taking your life back!). I was painfully shy as a child, but when I went away to college I met some friends who really helped me come out of my shell. When I worked, I knew I was exceptional at what I did, and I felt confidence from that too. As I gained weight, my confidence took a nose-dive. Then, I became a stay-at-home mom with few friends close by so my self-worth is pretty much tied up in my kids (and of course I think I'm ruining them). I'm trying to come out of my shell, and it's getting easier as I feel better about myself, but it's a sloooooow process.

When you say your band is wide open at night...

I'm the same as Cissy... I can eat more, but it's nothing like pre-band. -
How can you get your metabolism back up?`
Anwyn replied to puddin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've heard that eating breakfast kick-starts the metabolism (even if you're not hungry when you wake up). Are you combining cardio workouts with your weight lifting? I think getting your heart rate up would help as well. -

Hi everyone! I've been lurking, but never seem to have time this week to type a reply. We're all sick again - we picked up a cold bug at my sister's house last weekend. Does it ever end? DH is stressing out right now... He has always been one of the lucky few who loves his job, but it's become very routine and boring the last couple of years. He wants to make a move, but he has a sweet deal right now. He has a second interview today with a new company, but if he takes the job it would be as a contractor (no benefits - they offer health insurance but it'll be $1200/month!!). Pro's: more interesting job. Con's: same pay, more hours, lots of travel. I'm really trying hard to be supportive, but at the same time, what's in it for me, lol? Oh well... it will all work out. He won't make a move unless we agree on it, but I don't want him to resent me either. Argh - I can't deal with stuff when I have a cold! I'm a big baby when I'm sick. :sick Cindy, I'm really proud of you for taking charge of the drinking situation in your extended family. That must have been a very difficult conversation to start, and I'm so glad it went well! Congrats to your husband for staying sober for 5 years! What a huge accomplishment. In my family we sweep everything under the carpet, so for you to confront the situation was a very brave thing to do. Ira, I'm so glad that you found life insurance coverage! Naively, I assumed that it would be easier to get coverage after WLS, so your post was eye opening. I will make a note of the companies that you found and look into it once I'm a year out. Eilene & Irene, you guys look great! One of these days I'm going to hop on a plane and meet you all for coffee. I want to meet some of my LBT buddies in person! Betty, Pat, Sherry, Patty, hope you're all doing well. Hope I didn't miss anyone! I'll write more later - gotta go pin my kids down and give them their cold medicine.

Just got back from Plastic Surgeon...

Kellie, I am so excited for you (not to mention green with jealousy)!! You're making me want to get my butt in gear. Keep us posted - I can't wait to see those after pictures! -
Welcome to LBT Steven! Congrats on your insurance approval and surgery date.
-
It definitely sounds like you need an unfill. I had 1cc in a 4cc band, and I had constant discomfort. I wasn't PB'ing, so I just figured that was the way things were supposed to be... Now that I've had an unfill I know what restriction is supposed to feel like. Call your doc.
-
Congrats on getting your date! It does figure that you'd have to move a bunch of stuff around, but it'll be worth the hassle!
-
Wow Crystal - you look great! Love the dollars tucked into your bracelets... How are we mere mortals supposed to top bull-riding and belly dancing? Very inspiring ladies!
-
I feel your frustration... I was originally supposed to be banded in February or March of 2005 and it was postponed until the end of July. I shed a few tears myself, but just know that the big day WILL come. Hang in there!
-
Erin, my heart really goes out to you. Please feel better soon. (((((((HUGS))))))))
-
You've dropped more than weight - you look 20 years younger! Great job! :cake:
-
Um... this is a rhetorical question, right? :cake: Hang in there! You'll be the incredible shrinking woman in no time. :cake:
-
I can't add much to the above, but I had to send you a big LBT hug.
-
Congratulations Penni!
-
How exciting! Great NSV.

Can you explain a little more about why it upsets you? I actually enjoy grocery shopping more post band because I know if I do buy something "bad" I can't eat the whole package anymore. I used to get really anxious, trying to talk myself into only getting healthy stuff, but obsessed with all of the junk food I would pass. Of course, I used to cave most of the time... When I was first banded I went through some really bad food mourning... We would order carry out and I'd walk around throwing stuff around the kitchen, frustrated and mad that I couldn't eat. I just now realized that that hasn't happened to me in months. Give it some time. It takes the brain a while to get banded.

:cross-eye (that's supposed to be the cross-eye face, but it looks more like constipation, lol) Good luck! I think you have a great hook, having had your WLS surgery reversed. Keep us posted!!
-
I'm having the same problem... It took me forever to get to my PM's. It's definitely LBT's server and not your connection. I have a really fast connection, and other websites load fine.
-
Hi Robin! Many people require more than one fill to get the right amount of restriction. I would call your doctor and schedule another one. Don't worry - once you hit the right level of fill you won't be hungry all the time. Good luck, and congrats on your weight loss!

How often do you check your progress?
Anwyn replied to sleepyjean's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I know I probably shouldn't, but I weigh every morning (and sometimes before bed too, lol). I took an after picture at 50 lbs and my next pic will be when I hit 199. I'm too lazy to take measurements - I just go with my clothing size.
