    "You're Not The Same Anymore"

Marcelle, change is hard on any marriage. Your husband is scared that you're going to be a different person, and guess what? You are. You're not going to be his eating buddy, he'll have to worry about other guys hitting on you, and his self esteem could take a hit as a result. You're NOT a bad wife to want to be healthy. I suggest some counseling to bring out the issues you guys are facing. Weight loss surgery is a big adjustment for everyone in the family, but the positives (longer life, bigger sex drive, a hot wife to be proud of!) far outweigh the negatives.
  5. Welcome to LBT Emilee! Taking time off to enjoy a new boyfriend is a great reason in my book. Sometimes maintaining feels just as good as losing.

This should make some feel special.

I can't say I'm surprised - I remember thinking that a doc would have to be crazy to post here after the last big thread blow up.
  7. qqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqCan you guys clarify what Biotin is? Is it a pill, or a topical thing you put on your hair? I'm 7 months out and I've been losing hair for about 4 weeks now. I'm just about ready to cut it all off, and it has me really bummed. I get plenty of Protein and fat, and I've been under anesthesia many times and never lost hair, so I'm at a loss as to why I'm losing it all of the sudden. I just had my thyroid tested too, and it's fine. The hormone thing makes the most sense. I guess the reason doesn't really matter, I just want it to stop! Thinking of going chin length and blonde... DH is gonna kill me.

    Similar Shame

It's okay! You are not the only person to ever gain weight with the band. The real shame would be never going in for that fill. And if they give you a load of crap, find a new fill doctor. Yes, you will probably be a little embarrassed, but clearly you weren't ready. That's the beauty of the band - it's in there ready to work now that you've decided to go forward. Good luck to you.

    Approvals and time limits

Good question... In my case I had to postpone my band surgery 3 or 4 times. As long as I called and kept them informed on my new surgery date they were happy. Call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask for the care coordinator - they should be able to tell you for sure.

    Look Thinner... feel fatter.

Dawg, I feel the same too. Most days I pat myself on the back for losing weight, but for some reason that mean little voice in my head has gotten more critical of my body since I've lost weight. My arms, thighs, stomach, booty, you name it - they're all caving in. I'm a walking mudslide...

    can't stop eating

First of all, congratulations on maintaining your weight despite the struggle at night. Don't forget what a HUGE accomplishment that is. I have the same problem with night time eating. Here are a few things that I've tried that have helped me most (not all) nights: -Paint your nails. Have you ever tried to get chips out of a bag with wet nails? It's impossible. -Take a bath and give yourself a facial. -If you'd rather be in front of the tv, take up cross stitch or needlepoint. You have to keep clean hands while you're stitching or the project gets dirty. Trust me - I know... there is a half finished, cheetle stained picture in my sewing box. Good luck!
  14. Hi Jan, I wouldn't worry about it too much - there are many people with more than 2cc's in their 4cc band. For some reason (evaporation? leak? aliens?) it seems that fills can disappear after a while, so you may not have as much in there as you think. Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Eilene, I didn't post on the XXX thread issue because I was afraid my opinion would be misconstrued (not that that would ever happen!!).... I actually think that having an XXX forum would encourage more XXX threads, kinda like there are now a bazillion complications to be found on the complication thread. If I were a newbie here and I saw an XXX forum I think I'd get the wrong idea about this site. Just my 2 cents - I'm totally on board with what you're trying to accomplish, I just can't think of a better solution than clear "ADULT CONTENT" labeling on the thread name. Anywho, I can think of several members who would make it their mission to start a new XXX thread every day if they had their own forum. Not that there's anything wrong with that! (LOL - sorry - I love Seinfeld).

    Working with the band ...

I am losing weight on restriction alone. I know this, because I had an unfill a while back, and the old habits came back in minutes. Seriously, I was in the Taco Bell drivethru across the street from the hospital on my way home. For me, it's 90% the band, 10% me. The 10% is the part of me that occasionally gets me to work out. I read posts that suggest that everyone else eats broiled fish and steamed broccoli at every meal, and I think "hmm... what should I get on the pizza tonight?". I'm not saying that I don't eat healthy sometimes, but no more or less often than pre-band. And yeah, I try to get my Protein in most days. But I'm not kidding myself - if I could still eat 4 pieces of that pizza instead of the toppings off of one piece, I'd be in serious trouble.

    February's Chat

Hi everyone! We visited my sister in Missouri a few years back and saw soooooo many beautiful birds at the feeders on her deck. So, of course we were inspired to put up a feeder ourselves. Ya know what we got? A bunch of big fat brown birds gorging on our seeds and pooping all over my deck!!! That was at our old house... We actually have a new feeder and seed sitting in the dining room right now. For some reason they haven't come inside to get any - ROFL!! We have a six month turnaround time on any project at my house. We decide to buy a bird feeder... we buy one... we throw it in the dining room, and 6 short months later my DH brushes off the dust and puts it up. Pat, I'm confused about all these tests I've been having too, lol! The boobs looked good, the uterus looked good, but the cervix looks bad. In a month they're doing some sort of procedure where they slice off the tip of the cervix. I completely agree about it being nice to calmly discuss those people at Walmart. We all knew just what Betty meant, and nobody ripped her a new one. Now that's refreshing!! :biggrin1: And Eilene, I also cringe a little because I could see myself getting that heavy at one point. There but for the grace of God, eh? Pat, can I come to NC too?! Of course, I'd have to bring my 2 year old and 5 year old, but they're ANGELS!!! I'll drop them off on a Friday and be back to pick them up Monday. ROFLMAO! Sigh... this was supposed to be our weekend away from the little dears so I think I'm a little short on patience today. Just caught DD trying to apply her own diaper ointment OVER her diaper. Dianne, your GM sounds sharp as a tack! That's really cool. I wonder what her secret is. I'm sorry that you got sick on the drugs yesterday. Eilene, when is Sunday breakfast? Cause I can be there by 9am! I'll bring the coffeecake. :hungry: I know this is blasphemous, but don't you ever wish you could deflate your band for an occasional meal? Just once a month would do it for me. I know, I know... bad Anne. Betty, isn't it always the way that something gets spilled on the floors right after they're mopped? That's why I just avoid mopping mine altogether. Sherry, Irene, and Cindy - what are you up to this weekend? Time to clean out the dining room. Oh yeah, the bird feeder's going up today! Or at least it's getting moved a little closer to the deck...
  18. Welcome to LBT! I'm sorry that you've had a tough time of it, but it sounds like you're on the mend. Congrats on your loss - you're doing great!
  19. Hold the phone! I'm from Michigan!! Where are you getting banded? Feel free to PM me if you want to chat. Welcome to LBT!

    Morning of surgery

Marcelle, remember - you're doing this FOR your son and your DH. It's the most unselfish decision you can make. Good luck to you today! (((HUGS)))

Congratulations on your weight loss! And thanks for sharing what you've learned. It's so easy to slip back into old habits. I'm slinking into the kitchen to get my water right now...

Thanks for the reassurance everyone. I'm really not worried about it - she said that it's no worse than what I had done yesterday, and that wasn't too bad. They want to wait a month for the biopsy site to heal up. I can do it under anesthesia in the hospital or with a local in her office. I LOVED the doctor that I saw, so I'm going to have her do it in her office. No biggie - but I WILL make DH pamper me for a day or two. Patty, what a nice surprise from your principal! A good boss can sure make a big difference. Well ladies, I have to get off my butt and clean this place up. Happy Friday!!
  24. The arch nemesis strikes again, eh? Spray that pizza!!
  25. My DH brought all sorts of junk into the house while I was on liquids.... pizza, fast food, you name it. At first I was really irritated, and then I realized that it was his way of dealing with his jealousy over me getting the band (he could stand to lose 75 lbs). He's a great guy, so don't get the wrong impression - it wasn't done to hurt me. Food has always been a huge part of our relationship, and I think he was mourning the loss of his eating buddy. Fortunately, he's now getting on board and losing some weight himself. Men are just as insecure about being heavy when their spouse is thin.
