Jess, I'm sending waves of white light your way. I'm so happy for you. Can't wait to see the after pics!!

Alex, I know what you mean about challenges... for some people they really help, and for others they sabotage. You're welcome to join us at any time! Seppi, Tricia, and Diane - welcome!! Mia, of course you can join! We'll get you far enough away from 200 so that one slip up won't put you back over the edge. I don't have a fill either right now, so it would be all too easy for me to gain weight. Alexandra, can you please make this thread a sticky? Thanks!!

Yup, I experienced the same thing too. It's frustrating, but normal. Hang in there - you're doing great!

Good morning everyone! No more news on the farmhouse. At this point we're waiting to hear back from our realtor (who happens to be my mommy) to find out if the bank is willing to negotiate the price. The house needs at least 100K in work, so we need a serious price reduction to make it a feasible move. The guy who lost the house to the bank was a builder, so he has already done a lot of the work. DH and I both grew up in do-it-yourself homes (I don't remember ever once having a contractor in the house). That said, we don't do a thing ourselves now, lol! BUT, we have decided that that is going to change if we buy this house. Paula, my avatar is gone because I hated the picture. I looked for a replacement, but DH never takes my pic! I'll get one taken soon. Kelly, enjoy your weekend off! So glad you've hit your sweet spot! You're going to need a whole new wardrobe this summer. Eilene, all I can say is wow. I can't imagine taking a house down to the foundation and rebuilding it. I wanna see the before and after pics!! Today is my son's school fundraiser. They're doing a silent auction and the kids will be singing and telling jokes. He's really excited! Every other year he's spotted us in the audience and come to sit with us, but I think he's finally old enough to stay up there with the big kids. A few days ago I was thinking that maybe I wouldn't need a fill to get restriction and I could just keep losing weight. Reality check! The hunger is back. I ate all day yesterday trying to make up for lost time. I'm hoping the doc will give me a tiny fill when I go in for the post surgery appt in two weeks. He'll probably want me to wait the 6 weeks though... My sister and my SIL are coming over this afternoon for an egg stuffing party (for my Easter egg hunt in 2 weeks). Should be fun! Happy Saturday!

Start Weight: 206.5 My goal for this challenge is to finally incorporate exercise into my day on a regular basis. I have to wait about a week before my surgeon will clear me for exercise, but then I hope to turn some of this loose skin and flab into buns of steel!

First, write down what a typical all-out binge day would have been for you pre-band. I'll bet you'll be shocked at how much less you ate yesterday. I'm not saying it was a healthy day, but at least the band kept you in check. Now - *smack!* - because you asked for it. Get back on track! Just think of how mad you're going to be if you get on that scale and it's over 200 lbs again. I've definitely had a few days like this too... I swear, sometimes I temporarily forget that I even have a band, or I throw myself a misguided pity party and want to be able to eat like "normal" people. I usually snap out of it quickly and realize how lucky I am. Don't worry - small setbacks are par for the course but you're doing great!

Shanna, I'm so sorry! I went through surgery less than two weeks ago to fix a slip. I hope that it will be resolved for you without surgery. Either way, at least we are both fortunate to keep our bands. (((HUGS)))

Hi All, I'm so proud that I just have to share... my brother-in-law found out that he's been awarded a Purple Heart for an incident in Iraq last year. He's a doctor who was stationed in the heart of Baghdad and he was shot in the ankle by a stray bullet while on a rescue mission. They were shooting small missiles at the ambulance that day, so we almost lost him altogether. He is home and safe now (and out of the Army - woo hoo!). Just wanted to share the good news with my LBT buddies.

Another Hestia here...

Randy & Joy, I'm so very sorry about your BIL. What a shock that must have been for you all! Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. And I hope that nasty bug doesn't stay around long.

That's great news - congrats!

:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: Great job!! :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: I'm working hard to hit that goal as well. I can't wait to join you!

I'm not sure what the odds are for getting a port infection, but I believe it's the same as for the other complications (1 - 3%). I know it's scary when someone we know has a complication, but that doesn't mean that it's going to happen to you. And not getting a fill isn't going to guarantee that you never get a port infection either. Try to look at it this way - you have a band and yes, there's a possibility that you might lose it some day. So, use it to the best of your ability while you have it. A band without a fill isn't being used to it's potential.

Hello...Will be banded in 4 days!
Anwyn replied to Mom2Blake's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome to LBT Crystal! Happy banding and best wishes for a speedy recovery. -
I was on my period for my band surgery too. Don't worry about it - like everyone else has said it won't make a difference. And if you're crampy, there's always the morphine pump!
-
I am still sore from having to have my band replaced due to slippage, and there has not been one single second (not even when I was going through reflux and told I needed another surgery) that I regretted my decision to get the band. Yes, there are some potential complications, but even with a slip I would do it again. And again, and again (but I sure hope I don't have to!).

Oh wow! I was just whining to my sister about this the other day. I'm 5'6, 205 lbs, and I'm still firmly in a size 20. I tried on a pair of 18's the other day and I was at least 15 lbs away from fitting into them. I really do get that we're all built different, and I have a much smaller chest than most "women of substance" (lol), but sometimes when I read about women on here who can fit into a size 20 at 285 lbs it makes me do a double take. I do think you'll see a quick drop in sizes as you go through the lower weights, but it's true that some of us just weren't built to ever be a size 6 (or 8, or 10...).

Im finally banded!!!!! :)

Please tell me your doctor or nutritionist gave you post-op instructions...? Each doc is different, but in my case, I was on liquids for one week and mushies for 2 before I was allowed to try any solid foods. Here is a great thread with suggestions for the different stages: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=3995 -
Maebeth, I believe the statistic quoted most often for slippage is 1-3%. My band slipped a few weeks ago, and I didn't have any incidents of excessive vomiting. A few PB's many months ago, but that's it. In my case, the first symptom was reflux followed by stomach cramping that increased in severity over the course of a week. My doctor was able to remove my band and install a new one in the same surgery.

I like the Resolve Foam - I think it works well on odors. Good luck!

Anticipation of Band leading to out-of-control eating
Anwyn replied to CLOE's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
When I went in for my very first consultation they weighed me, told me I had to lose 5 lbs to show my commitment to surgery, and that if I was even 1 lb up from this on surgery date my surgery would be cancelled. It seemed pretty hardcore at the time, but it definitely kept me on track in the months leading up to surgery! -
WOW - what a jerk!! I'm so sorry that you had to go through that. You're not going to let some opinionated a-hole let you feel bad about getting this surgery. ((((((HUGS!)))))) And the stupid cakes! Even if you ate a dozen a day, would that be his business?! Grrrr

Congratulations!! You're goin' to bandland. Hey! I see you online - get some sleep or you're going to sleep through the alarm! :biggrin1:
