I am in the same boat as you. I have had 2 fills and I have no restriction. I have been trying to keep my portions small and exercising 5 days a week. That is the only reason I have lost 78 lbs. I want to feel a sense of fullness. My insurance co. will only pay for 2 more fills and then I have to pay out of pocket. I can not afford $950 each fill. I pray that I reach my sweet spot with the next fill. I will schedule another one when I get back from my vacation. Good luck with your next fill.

one month out and having some nausea
TreTRe replied to andielmt's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was experiencing nausea myself a couple of weeks ago. I saw the Dr. and he said I was dehydrated and that causes nausea and dizziness. Since then I have been drinking more and the nausea went away. Hope that helps. -
Thank you, thank you Dr. Watkins, your explaination was very thorough. I appreciate you taking the time to explain the differences. I am sure I will be asking more questions as I continue on my weight loss journey. It is a comfort to know that you are here to help. Heather A-thank you for helping with the font of Dr. Watkins response. It made reading it easier.

Dr. Watkins, I have the Realize band. What is the differences between the AP and the Realize band? I know you said the weight loss is similiar. What are the advantages and disadvantages to each of them? Thank you in advance for taking the time to answer my questions.

My band is called Realize by Johnson and Johnson. Is that the same as AB that you are all talking about? My Dr. said it was new and he was putting it in all of his patients.

Horrible gas pain...STILL!
TreTRe replied to HoneyB-Palomino's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Drink more slowly and walk constantly. A friend suggested peppermint tea, I didn't try it, so I can't tell you if it works or not. I know suppositories help to release the gas. Good luck! -
Gas pain so bad I can not stand it
TreTRe replied to summerbushnell's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just went through the same exact thing. I was banded on Nov. 27 and today is the first day I am not in pain. The gas is still there, but bearable. It got so bad last Thursday, I thought I was having a heart attack. I was told to walk, walk and keep walking. I took gas x and even took dulcolax to try and release the gas. My only suggestion is a massaging heating pad. It seemed to help a bit. I even had family members pound on my back to try and break up the gas. I was desperate, I figured if it worked for my kids as babies it was worth a try. A friend emailed me today to suggest peppermint tea, you can try that. I hope you are feeling better. It does get better each day. Good luck! Before you know it, the pain is replaced with strong hunger pains, that is where I am at now. I can't wait to start solids next week. -
momof3- I have been drinking 100% Whey Protein by EAS twice a day made with 8 oz. of skim plus milk. You get 34 grams of protein in each 8 oz. serving(skim plus had 11g and the protein mix has 23g). It is good in the vanilla flavor. I have not tried other flavors. I like the vanilla so I will stay with it until I am sick of it. LOL Hope that helps. Good luck to you!

I am feeling better today, but the gas is lingering a bit. This morning I woke up at 5:00am starving. I ate a sf pudding and took extra strength tylenol. I have never felt that much pain from hunger ever! I guess the swelling is going down, so the hunger will increase until I get filled in 5 weeks. It is going to be a long 5 weeks. Thanks for listening!

I was banded on Nov.27. The problem I am having is with gas pain. I have been taking gas x and walking as much as possible. I do feel better, but it will take some time. I know I am not getting in enough fluids. I start to drink, but have no desire to finish anything. This is goingto be a long and difficult journey, but I know we will do it! I am with all of you every step of the way. Patrice

Alexandra, I am scheduled for Nov. 27, lap band with Dr.Abkin. What was your experiences with Dr. Abkin? How did the band slip after 3 1/2 years? Did your insurance pay for the removal and then to be rebanded? I appreciate any input you might have. TreTre

taybarrera, I am also being banded on November 27, 2007 by Dr. Abkin at St. Peter's Hospital. I am 37 years old and I need to lose 150 lbs. Maybe we can support one another. If you are interested in chatting, please email me at TreTre310@aol.com. I would appreciate any help. TreTre
