When did nausea go away
weightloss4liss replied to AuriP's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 6 weeks post-op and still deal with daily nausea. I have 2 meds which help a little. I'm anxiously awaiting not being nauseated! -
Can't tell if I am hungry or full or what!
weightloss4liss replied to pik's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do! I'm nauseated all the time, but sometimes I feel hungry. When I go to eat, I realize I'm not hungry after all. It just doesn't make sense! -
nauseous all the time
weightloss4liss replied to new start2014's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also live with constant nausea. I take prescription meds and it helps a little. Drinking anything is the major problem, as I'm immediately nauseated. Eating takes about 20 minutes before I feel icky. I see the dr tomorrow, and I'm hoping to find an answer to the problem. I'm 7 weeks out today from my RNY. -
I'm 5 weeks out from RNY, and I'm frustrated and discouraged. I can't eat or drink without nausea, and many times whatever I put down wants to come up in a "juicy burp" (I'm really sorry if that's tmi). I talked to my nut yesterday and she suggested Popsicles because they take more time and should help going down. However, even the Popsicles make me nauseous. On top of that, since I'm barely eating or drinking, I thought the scales would show something for all my trouble, but I've stalled. I have an appt to see my surgeon next week. I know I have a narrowing of my anastomoses and he may go in and stretch that. Please tell me things get better!

Need positive support
weightloss4liss replied to weightloss4liss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you. I do have nausea medication, and it helps as long as I don't eat anything. The surgeon is aware of the problem, but only sees patients on Thursdays. He was already booked for tomorrow, so I had to take next week. The nut is going to stay in contact with me because she understands how much I am lacking in nutrition and hydration. If things go further south before next week, she said I'm to go to the ER. I'm just feeling down today because it's been a tough road today with the nausea. I'm sure I will feel better about things in the morning. But I so appreciate your encouragement and advice! I need that :-) -
I have been diagnosed with this disorder for many years. It basically means that my stomach cannot properly digest food. I'm afraid it is making things harder after my RNY. I get quite hungry, but as soon as I eat I'm nauseated. As soon as the nausea wears off I'm really hungry again. Doesn't matter if I only ate a half hour ago, or two hours ago. And it isn't just the kind of hungry where your stomach growls, but the kind that makes you very lightheaded and shaky. Does anyone else deal with this? Is there a way to make things easier? I used to take medication, Domperidone, for this problem, but the doctors won't prescribe it now. It's a med I have to get from Canada. However, the doctors now say that Reglan is just as good, and that's what they prescribe for me. This med doesn't even begin to work, but my doctors will not switch it out or prescribe the med that worked.

What type of yogurt do you use?
weightloss4liss replied to Bring It On's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love The Greek Gods yogurt. It is very creamy and it's like eating ice cream (without the sugar). My store just quit carrying the plain flavor though, and I'm very sad about this. Does anyone know if honey is ok to have? Because they have a honey flavored one that I used to eat before surgery, and it is out-of-this-world good! I currently am eating Chobani pumpkin spice. I've used it in pumpkin protein smoothies, and it is good. I don't care for any other Chobani flavors though. -
Does anyone else have this problem? If so, what help is there for it? My surgeon says it'll stretch itself, but it's been 5 weeks and there is no change. This narrowing causes quite a few problems for me, not to mention that it us painful.

I'm in the same boat. Struggling to get in my protein and liquids. I get sick on the protein powders and protein bars, so I am trying to find other ways to get my protein in. Unfortunately, I can't eat much before I'm too full. So what starts out to be high in protein isn't so high after all because I can't eat the serving size to get it all in. And fluids....oh how my stomach hates to drink! I'm thirsty, but my stomach literally rebels at fluid intake. My RNY was 8/18/14, and I was hoping that by now I'd be doing better.

Best brand of RTD Protein drinks?
weightloss4liss replied to brookecmyers's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bring It On, if you bought the protein through sams club, and you have your receipt, they will take it back and give you your money back. If you don't have your receipt they will still take it back because they can track your purchases through your member number, but they will only give you store credit without the receipt. -
Does anyone else agree that eating is no longer fun after GBP? I am finding that I am constantly being aware of when I'm getting full, focusing on chewing carefully, and cautiously swallowing so as not to swallow too much too fast. All that and I am no longer enjoying eating. It's as if it is now a chore which I dread. Couple that with watching my family eat, often going back for seconds, and I want to run screaming from the table. Will eating ever be enjoyable again? I am 3 weeks post-op and on the soft foods phase, and I widely vary my food options so as not to get bored. But it's still no fun :-(

Does anyone know how to edit or update personal information in their profile? I've gone everywhere on this site and can't figure it out. I've even tried the search, but it comes back with 0 results. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance :-)

Best brand of RTD Protein drinks?
weightloss4liss replied to brookecmyers's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Simple Start is tasty, but it only has 15g of protein. Found them in the breakfast aisle at Walmart near the carnation instant breakfast. -
Needs Encouragement
weightloss4liss replied to musiclady2014's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also almost 4 weeks out from RNY. I also had complications and questioned myself on having the surgery. It didn't feel worth it at first. While I still am having troubles, the scales are showing me a good look at how this surgery has helped, even though it's been difficult. I know things will get better! I'm proud of you! It's going to be so worth it in the end :-) -
tummy troubles
weightloss4liss replied to jessb418's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the same problem. Ask your doctor for phenergan for the nausea...that helps! My doctor also said I can take 1 Imodium and that has also been helpful. The protein shakes have been one of the main culprits for the nausea, so I've been using 2 packets of sugar free carnation instant breakfast which equals one scoop of the protein powders. That has helped. -
Help. Nausea all day
weightloss4liss replied to jgarcia323's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've heard a lot about a protein powder called GenePro. I'm going to be ordering it this week. I hope it works as good as what I'm hearing. It's odorless and tasteless, so I'm hoping that will be to my benefit. I also don't like the protein bars, or the protein chips. But, I just bought some hummus and I'm going to try that on the protein chips to see if that helps at all. Also, try looking on Pinterest for high protein recipes. I've found quite a few that are very good! One last thought....I've been using the sugar free carnation instant breakfast as my chocolate protein powder. It only has 15g of protein per package, but it takes 2 packets to equal one scoop, so it is just as much protein as in the protein powders! And it tastes great!!! -
Does anyone else have a problem drinking protein shakes? Within minutes of taking even a couple small sips of a protein shake, regardless of brand, I'm nauseated and my stomach gurgles and churns for hours. It wasn't like this before surgery...I could drink them with no problems. Since protein shakes are one of the best ways to get my protein in, I'm severely lacking meeting that need other ways. I've been getting only 20 - 30 grams of protein a day without the protein shakes.

Eating is no longer fun
weightloss4liss replied to weightloss4liss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you everyone for your wisdom and insight. This helps a lot to know I'm not alone in my boat, and it also really helps to get advice on different ways to think about eating. :-) -
Help. Nausea all day
weightloss4liss replied to jgarcia323's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also stay nauseated a lot. Mostly after eating or drinking. My dr said that some people experience this, and it's equated to morning sickness. There isn't an explanation as to why some people do this and others don't. I was given phenergan, and it is helping. I still get nauseated, but the phenergan helps counteract this within 30 minutes. -
Water tasting funky
weightloss4liss replied to Becky6262's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Both my nut and my surgeon told me that it is a common problem with plain water. For me, it tastes great and I crave it, but I get extremely nauseous after only a couple sips. They recommend avoiding plain water. They advised using sf water flavor enhancers (such as crystal light, skinny girl, mio, etc) but they said it would be best for me to stick with juices. I've found that ocean spray 100% cranberry juice tastes best. Any of the ocean spray no sugar added juices are excellent options. -
New Food For Post Ops...

I am not quite 2 weeks out, and today my hips and legs ache like I have the flu. I just can't get comfortable. I'm not able to eat much (maybe 8 - 10 ounces of food a day), so I'm wondering if a lack of nutrition is the cause? I take all my vitamins and supplements....but I lack a lot of protein. I just can't eat enough to get it all in.
