Sorry that you don't need to know why this is a bad idea but this is the most insane thing I have ever heard. If you have to ask this question on a message board I suggest you get to your doctor. There is really no other way.

Dr. Woodman is my doc too - he is tough but good, tells you like it is and does not coddle you. The surgery will go great and the staff @ Methodist G-Town is fantastic!!! Good luck and I am so excited for you - I was banded September 18th and have lost 70 lbs!!
-
Your going through fat detox. The best thing to do is keep busy. I know after surgery when you are laid up it seems that television only has food commercials and it looks soooo good. You did the best thing you went for a walk. All the foods you mentioned you will be able to have just in small portions and chewed up really good. Your going to be fine!

I had headaches for about two weeks after surgery. I found that taking liquid tylenol about evey 6-8 hrs kept them under controll. It will get better - good luck -
I went in for a fill this morning and apparantly my port is laying on the tube so he can put Fluid in but not take it out. I have to have a day surgery to repair it. I am four months out from surgery and 56 pounds down so I am not devestated but just the thought of going under again - oy vey. Wondering if anyone has had to do this? Thanks!
-
They told me since my insurance paid for the initial surgery it should pay for the repair - I will have to wait and see (cross fingers) - Was it painful? The first surgery was not to bad I was just wondering what to expect - thank you so much!

I look at it this way, if we thought we looked good fat then we would not have the surgery (yes health is the main reason but we all want to look good) our society just values thin people, my retort would be "I know, what the hell will they ever be able to do about you?

I know most people say "Induldge" but my doctor was very strict and told me that if I had made the decision to have the surgery that I had made the decision to change my lifestyle. That the band is only a tool and you have to modify how you eat for the rest of your life. When I went to weigh the day before my surgery my nurse said "you have only lost five pounds go home and we will call to let you know if the surgery is going to happen" That was the worst part of the whole ordeal. They did go through with it but I got another lecture pre-op about if I was not going to be serious about this then I was wasting my time. My advice is your not on death row, a few months after the surgery you are going to be able to go out and have that wine and the sushi (and you will be looking good) stay with your pre-op program, it will make you feel so much better about yourself. Just my take - Good luck, the band is the best thing I ever did.

I was banded on 9/18 and have had really great results, I have lost 42 lbs so far, my starting BMI was 35 and it is now 29. I was so scared I was going to do something that caused band slippage that I stuck strictly to the post-op diet. I ventured the other day and had a few sips of diet coke and it did not hurt or anything but I am still scared to drink them. Does anyone drink carbonated drinks? If so what is the down side? I have not had a fill yet so the problems may come after that. Thanks!

Yes, Yes, Yes I love Tim Gunn. I must not be that great with fashion because the winners of the last 3 seasons were not the ones I would have picked. Uli should have won season 3!

Oy-Vey - OK, sorry that my doctor and nutritionist have guided me in a different direction. Good luck and I am not knocking anyone - I think this surgery is the best thing ever and I think anyone that has had it has a lot of courage because its hard to re-think food. I totally agree that moderation is the best I am just striving for a goal here, I'm 40 believe me I am good on nuggets et.al for a good long time!! -

I don't have it all figured out - I am just simply saying that until one reaches there goal why not go with the healthy option. How do you argue that? -

Look up two posts and see what she responded to me - there ARE 450 lb people on this board and to me she is putting them down. Don't ask for an opinion if you only want people to agree with you. -

WOW you are super defensive - I may be a few weeks out but I had to spend months going to dr's and a nutritionist before I could get the surgery and I have learned a lot of things and one of those is to not eat fast food, my starting BMI is LOWER than yours @ 34, I am just saying my dr just has a different approach and that is fast food is out. Knock yourself out - have all the nuggets you want - its just not good for you and I was suggesting you take the healthy option but you don't want to so dont. Sheez! -

OK - I have lost 32lbs in six weeks, sticking to the plan and exercising. I am not knocking you - you asked a question and I answered - you sound a bit defensive - would your doc and nutritionist say eat it? I just think that you need to use food for fuel. From Chick-Fil-A's web site for just the nuggets is below Calories260Calories from fat120 Total Fat13g20%Saturated fat2.5g13%Trans fat0gCholesterol70mg23%Sodium840mg35%Carbohydrates10g3% vs. the Grilled chicken Calories100Calories from fat15 Total Fat1.5g3%Saturated fat0g0%Trans fat0gCholesterol65mg22%Sodium610mg25%Carbohydrates1g0% Its in the numbers - oh and that does not include the cole slaw, its below Calories260Calories from fat180 Total Fat21g32%Saturated fat3.5g16%Trans fat0gCholesterol25mg8%Sodium220mg9%Carbohydrates17g6% -

I agree that you can do that once you reach your goal weight but according to your chart you have 80 more pounds to loose. Why delay it by eating un-healthy fast food? I know that I have had plenty of fast food in my day and yes its hard giving it up but since we have gone to such drastic measures to loose weight - work it! I know that I don't want to live the rest of my life with the mentality that food is a reward. You have to re-think how you look at food its not a reward its fuel for your body. When you fill your car up do let gas flow onto the ground? No, why not do the same for your body? I am not judging but I think that you need to stick to the plan until you reach your goal. -
I lost 15 pounds in my first two weeks and then it slowed, I just added an extra 30 minutes to my walking and am now down 32lbs five weeks after surgery. I see my dr. next week and I don't know if he will fill me or not. The more you exercise the better you feel. Remember weight loss is math, you have to burn more than you take in. Good luck, it will work!

My question is why are you eating friedf fast food? Chick-Fil-A has a better option, just get the grilled chicken sandwich and eat only the chicken. -
Are you exercising? You have to exercise at least five hours a week. I was banded on 9/18/07 and have not had a fill yet and have already lost 32lbs. I think the main reason is that I have not missed a day of exercise. Remember this surgery is just a tool not the solution. Good luck.
