December 10th here. -
You got yourself a hell of a birthday present this year!
-
I thought I couldn't wait 6 months for the program my doctor required but it amazed me how fast it went. 3 months will fly by!

I've only got a 4 day liquid diet required but Im going to try doing a full week to see what I can lose. I'm definitely going to start walking tomorrow and will be working up to walking a few 5k events before surgery. My plan is to get started on the exercise but also to get event shirts that are 2 sizes too small so I can shrink into them. By the time I shrink to that size I want to be able to RUN a 5k wearing them. That would be an awesome way to gauge progress without just looking at the scale. Tonight is my last night on the couch.....

Just got my date, Dec 10th! Aside from waiting 2 more months, I think December is an awesome month to have it done. What a way to start the new year! My date is also 3 weeks after my 45th birthday, so it will be a great birthday present to myself also. Perhaps I will go in and pay the hospital/surgeon fees on my birthday to make it my official present.

Ok, I finally got my real date. December 10th! It's going to be a long wait but I can live with it. I'm going to do my best over the next 2 months to transition into protein drinks for meal replacements and to start walking as much as I can. I can't let myself go "Man -vs- Food" for 60 days!

I like Syntax Nectar. Strawberry/Kiwi is good, Fuzzy Navel is really good. Both mix well, aren't chalky, and aren't "thick". I've also started using Unjury unflavored and either mix it with the Syntax Nectar or with yogurt. It has little taste and blends well.

1.) water parks 2.) scuba diving 3.) running 3.) summer outside 4.) bending over to pick something up without "strategically planning" how I'm going to get back up 5. Breathing when I tie my shoe 6.) throwing away my slip on sandals 7.) wiping my ass without going through contortions ( TMI?).

Try to let it go and visualize the new you that will be here before you know it! Soon you will never have to suffer that indignity again. Hang in there!

I finally got through to my surgeons office and was told I'll be called next week to be "officially" scheduled since the person that schedules is out........Very annoying and I feel like picking up my records and going to a different surgeon. My wife keeps telling me to be patient and that's it's more important to have the best surgeon (which I think mine is) -vs- the best office staff. I can't really argue with that.

I've had no issues with the lids at all. It does have a drinking hole in it so it's not leak proof if you tip it over. (It's a tumbler style lid -vs- a screw on, Water tight cap.) Of the 2 I actually like the 20oz best. I tend to drink more per day with the 20 also. Not sure why, must be something with my mind that makes me drink more with a smaller container.

Congratulations on your approval! There are a lot of Aetna horror stories about being denied but lately most Aetna folks I see on the forums are getting quick approvals. (Myself included)

Does neuropathy get better after weight loss?

I may look into that, thanks. -

Thanks everyone, I appreciate your input and responses. -
Congratulations! I recently got approved also. It's a good feeling isn't it!

My hands down favorite is the Yeti Rambler tumbler. They make a 20oz and a 32oz. I have both and each fit in standard cup holders. You won be disappointed!

Waiting from approval from ins(aetna)
Mike4132 replied to dagrlnxtdoor's topic in Insurance & Financing
I received the approval letter from Aetna in the mail today. It has an inpatient services date of Nov 5th on it. Is that the day my Dr. Office would have submitted for surgery? So far all the Dr. Office has told me is that the coordinator would call me to schedule a date........and I haven't heard from anyone since last week. Anyone else get an approval letter with an inpatient date on it? If so, is it the same as your surgery date? -

Wow, that's fast! Congratulations -
What is everyone NOT going to miss after sleeve?
Mike4132 replied to alexsisv's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Putting my shoes on from the side. Being winded after one flight of stairs. Buying continuously bigger clothes. Not being able to buy the clothes I want because they don't make them in my size. Just being fat...... -
I verified that Aetna received my paperwork today and the reality of what I'm about to do hit me like a ton of bricks when they confirmed they received it. Ive been working on this (insurance hoop jumping) for over 6 months now and until today I guess I kept expecting my doctor and staff to tell me surgery isn't possible for some reason. I know that's irrational, and I haven't even been approved yet, but suddenly it all seems very real. I think a part of it is because I sometimes still see myself in my mind as much smaller than I've let myself become. (Even though I've been morbidly obese for many years now.) Am I nuts or is this normal?

How can I convince my husband to consider weight loss surgery?
Mike4132 replied to steph1281's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
If it helps, maybe you can share or show how many other guys on this forum have either had it done, or are about to get it done. It helped me see there are others in my age/weight/height range that have done it also. (And also to read how their quality of life has changed.) It's going to be tough no matter what though. WLS is a scary and very personal decision. -
Any November sleevers out there
Mike4132 replied to mz.newlife54's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I received my insurance approval last week. I'm not officially scheduled yet but they are telling me it will most likely be in November so I'll say I'm a November sleever unless I hear otherwise! Congratulations by the way! Are you nervous? -

Have you heard back from Aetna yet? -
Still waiting on an official date from the person who schedules for the surgeon but it sounds like it will be sometime in November.
