10 days until December and counting.... I've been meaning to start a walking routine prior to surgery but so far I just haven't gotten to it yet. (Laziness......) Anyone else scheduled for December started any new activity in prep for post surgery changes yet?

Did anyone NOT tell their job about surgery?
Mike4132 replied to VGB's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm telling everyone at my office and I'd love to say I just don't care what they think, but in a way I do. I'd prefer not to be judged or be the topic of gossip but I also think I would feel worse if I tried to hide it and they discovered the truth anyway. Then I would REALLY be the topic of gossip. My hope is that by being open about it people will get over their initial reactions, and move on. Besides, I plan on being in better shape than most of them by next year and then any remaining naysayers can kiss my butt. -

Is it tough to get enough Water in? My doctor wants me to get 80 oz in per day and I have a had time doing that before surgery. Also-how has the hunger been?

Wow, I can't believe you've lost 50+ lbs already, that's amazing! How have you felt since surgery?

From what I've seen so far this forum has a lot of great people on it who will help you, encourage you, and support you every step of the way. Making the decision to tell others was a tough one for me and from what I've seen here, everyone seems to have different experiences with it. Most of those I've told have been supportive once I explained the health reasons behind it. The message people seem to be the most receptive to has been: "I've got health issues that I just can't gamble on anymore with regular dieting. If I don't fix it now, and fix it permanently, I'm going to be in serious trouble. I decided I'm going to do whatever it takes to be successful in getting my health back." I can also say that the more people I tell, the better I feel about it, but this is probably different for everyone. -

My doctor is booked out. The days are really dragging out now........ -
I received my approval letter from Aetna in the mail today. It has an inpatient services date of Nov 5th on it. Is that the day my Dr. Office would have submitted for surgery? So far all the Dr. Office has told me after they were given verbal authorization is that the coordinator would call me to schedule a date........and I haven't heard from anyone since last week when they first told me I was approved. Anyone else get an approval letter with an inpatient date on it? If so, is it the same as your surgery date or is it just a random date the insurance company puts on the letter? (It would help if the surgeons office would return my calls but for whatever reason they are not good about it. It's a bit unsettling.....)
-
They all seem to differ in the approval times. I've seen some people here approved in a couple days and others take quite a bit more. Mine only took a week thankfully with Aetna. It seems like there is also a difference with dr's programs and how well they document the requirements your insurance company needs. I would recommend calling your insurance company to verify they received the request and ask them directly. It will give you peace of mind if nothing else. Waiting and wondering can be very hard, at least for me! Which insurance company do you have?

Rock Climbing & Zip Lining 3 months Post op ?
Mike4132 replied to bdcsail's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I can't answer the question but I did just add an activity to my "things I want to do after WLS" list. Zip lining! -
My biggest fear is that I will regain after losing with the sleeve. I'm not sleeved yet but I'm hoping that fear stays with me and keeps me from letting it happen.

Does neuropathy get better after weight loss?
Mike4132 replied to Mike4132's topic in The Guys’ Room
Just a quick update on this: I decided on a hunch to stop using the topical testosterone (Axiron) my family doctor has been giving me to see if it would change anything with the pain in my feet. After about a week the neuropathy is almost gone completely so I'm pretty sure I found my culprit. -
I'll be getting sleeved in November and it can't come too soon. Lately I've been having increasingly worse nerve pain in my feet and I think it may be a sign or a result of diabetes. I have never been diagnosed with it but when my last blood work came back a couple months ago my doc warned me about being close to being diabetic. Has anyone here had neuropathy type pains that got better after surgery and major weight loss? I'm really hoping my upcoming surgery and weight loss is going to fix it.

There are well known facts on the internet these days that may help you make your scheduling decision: 1.) December Sleevers experience .015% less post op hair loss than those sleeved in November. (Weird but true apparently.) 2.) Sleeves performed in November could result in uncontrollable flatulence in 99.98%, or less, of the recipients. (I've read that it has something to do with the tides and moon phases affect on the formation of the pouch during that month.) 3.) December Sleevers have been scientifically proven to be able to "Trust a Fart" 2.43% more than a November Sleever. (They are more patient and less likely to take a chance according to the research performed.) 4.) December Sleevers "Rule"....... while November Sleevers, may in fact, "Drool". (Although this is still a theory, some feel it is soon to be definitively proven to be true.) 5.) December Sleevers may be a tad envious of their November brothers and sisters and are 100% likely to fabricate statistics based on said envy. (My surgery date is Dec 10th) -

It's good to see so many others scheduled for December, I was starting to feel like the only one scheduled so far out. It sure seems like a long time away but I know it will probably go quickly. Hard not to be envious of those darn November sleevers and their quick scheduling though.
