Hmm I can't say I've experienced chest burning as such when running, but if you are talking about the complete breathlessness, I found when I was building up to being able to run distances, if I slowed the pace by about half for a few minutes to give my body a chance to recover a little, I was able to pick it up again for another few minutes. I guess its a kind of fartlek technique (click the link) you can employ while building up your stamina. In time, I was able to sustain that faster pace for longer as my cardio ability increased. Don't know if that helped at all!!
