Stomach feels full?
tomsbiggirl replied to ThreeCrows's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery the same day as you & I have felt just like you.....until last Thursday when I threw up for the first time since surgery. I tried a hard boiled egg & it didn't sit well. Ever since then I haven't been able to eat enough to get in my Protein. I called the Dr. & they believe the my throwing up last week may have irritated my stomach so they have me on Prilosec. I have to get back to the Dr. this afternoon to update them on how I'm feeling. I may have an ulcer & they may have to do an endoscopy. I just have to wait & see. I'm just glad to find someone with the same surgery date & some similar issues. I hope you have better luck than me. Hang in there! -

Tommorow I will be 2 weeks post op & I have to say that the surgery was a breeze. They gave me a mild sedative in pre op. Everybody was extremely nice. The nurses from the OR, the anaesthesiologist team and the surgeons team were terrific. I feel that your surgerical team, etc. will take very good care of you. Just relax and think of how awesome this journey will be and how you will be feeling and looking 3 months from now, and then 1 year from now. Keep thinking positive thoughts. You will be fine.

From my experience through this journey, I have come to realize that patience is the best quality to have right now to make this surgery & the new life you will be starting easier to handle. You may want to do some research to better prepare yourself for what you will need to know to adapt to this great body and new eating habits, etc. This may also distract you from focusing so much on the surgery date. I would also recommend you call the scheduler on Monday. If she's that busy, she may just need a daily reminder from you that you are patiently waiting for the surgery date. Good luck & keep us updated please.

Should I or shouldn't I ?

Well, I'm 11 days post-op. I don't work, however, you are the only one that knows if you are able to handle the challenges coming your way. I would just recommend following the doctors orders & take care of yourself. Good luck with your journey. Keep us posted. -
I have been going through the 6 month program pre-surgery & we're told that 60 grams of Protein per day should be your goal. Protein helps reduce hair loss and helps w/the healing process. Good luck.

I am pre-op and through the various blood tests I had done, found out my calcium & vitamin were low. So I started on the Citracal Petites. I was amazed at how big the petites are, I can't imagine how big the regular Citracal are! Anyway, I take 2 tablets 2 times a day, which is the dosage I will have to take after surgery according the the dr.

The beginning of my journey
tomsbiggirl replied to RobinL123's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also going through the 6 month pre-surgery requirements & I had alot of questions and concerns. My advice to you is to do as much research as you can. The drs, nutritionists, etc. that you will see and the classes & evaluations that you will be involved in will help to answer alot of your questions. Also, joining this forum is such a great learning tool. I, too was going to stock up on Protein shakes, etc. Am I ever glad I didn't. The wonderful, experienced people on this forum are experienced and have given good advice on probably anything you need help with regarding WLS. Good luck and hang in there.....questions will be answered! -

I agree. I would imagine quite a few of us are insecure and are looking for moral builders and positive support. Thanks for speaking out.

Hello from PA, does anyone make their own protein shakes?
tomsbiggirl posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a newbie. I've been reading the blogs and noticed the sickness you are experiencing with the Protein shakes so I am wondering if anyone out there have attempted to make their own Protein Shakes. If so, how was it? I am going to my 4th pre-op "class/dr appt" in Sept. so I still learning and preparing. Anything that you can share about your experience(s) would be greatly appreciated.
