Holy Expensive Surgery Batman!

I am in Oregon and my bill is right around $25k. That is for everything. Thank goodness for double coverage donut is paid for 100%. Love my doc and feel that they have gone above and beyond to keep me healthy. That being said... $25k vs. $4500. Yikes. -

December surgery with a couple questions
ibabble replied to roells7's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was on a no lifting/twisting order for the first month. I would think if you are doing book work you would be fine. If you are in clinical rotations then I don't know. Good question for your doc. And always listen to your body. You will know when you have over done it. Good luck! -

Happy Birthday!! Now call the doctor. That is what I would tell my sister/friend. Be well. Take care of yourself. -
I had the same thing prior to surgery ( sleeved 8/20/14). It is to make sure you don't have obstructions or ulcers or hernias that would complicate your surgery. I ended up having a hernia. They still operated on me fixing the hernia at the same time. Be comfortable that your doctor is taking the extra steps to keep you healthy. Good luck!!!

why dont u just stay on the pre op diet?
ibabble replied to neev's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had a friend say the exact same thing to me. She decided she would diet with me when I went back to work (only I had already been sleeved) she lasted 2 days eating my post op diet. She went back to eating how she did before and now says she gets it. She is looking into wls herself. -
My first "real" food post op (1 month ) was a homemade taco. Took me 45 mins to get that sucker down but I enjoyed every single bite.

I drink a premier protein rtd shake from costco every morning ( I like the choc and add instant coffee crystals to make a nice mocha) 160 cals. 30 gms of protein. I also like Unjury protein (amazon) 100 cals. 21 gms of protein ( chicken soup is pretty darn tasty. Especially if you get sick of sweets like I do) . Isopure apple melon has 50 gms of protein in 210 cals. And at the end of the day if I am still short (100 gms a day goal ) then I have new whey protein tube. Walmart carries them 160 cals and 42 gms in 3 oz. not the best tasting (watermelon and acai are the best to me) but in a pinch chug it and be done.

August post op sleevers: Check in
ibabble replied to motherof5's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sleeved 8/20. Lost 12 lbs the first week then 4 then next. Nothing since. Weds will be 2 weeks on this stall. Grrrr I agree. Sorry others are experiencing this too but at the same time glad it isn't just me. Back at work now so trying to keep my brain busy. My nut has my protein goal at 100 grams with min at 75. I mostly bounce from 85-95. Can't quiet get to 100 but at least over the mins. Walking about 1/2 mile a day. Doing dumb bells for my arms ( just the 5 lb ones) and can't wait until I am cleared for more. Some surg complications have me behind the curve I am afraid. I just want the stall behind me. -

Try milk of magnesia. A dose in the am and a dose in the pm. A couple days of that ( or less) and you'll get bm. It is what they use in nursing homes to get the elderly going. -

... Mskiesha29. I had to go to hydration therapy twice. And I am going through the same as you with bm. Got through that and and my bladder holding on to the liquid. Doctor says because I am not drinking enough. Had my 3 wk post op today and I have a bad bladder infection. Hang in there. We just have to get more fluids in. Both of us. GOOD LUCK!! -
Also might try Unjury chicken soup. It has 21 gmail of protein and is pretty tasty. It's a broth so you can eat it

I have cried. What did I do?? I can't change my mind ( sleeved on 8/20). I have talked to others and seems to happen to several. My doc had me on clear liquid for 2 wks then thick liquid for 2 wks ( life saver being able to eat yogurt and cottage cheese) next week I get puréed food. Just keep yelling yourself it is all about your stomach healing. I have read others with frothing and upset stomachs even vomiting. I haven't had any of that. So maybe while boring, liquids aren't so bad after all

Discovered a new rtd protein drink that isn't a thick shake. Has the consistency of Gatorade. It is Isopure. I got is at GNC. 40 grams of protein in 20 oz. the flavors I have tried apple-melon (tastes like green apple and honey dew melon) and pineapple orange banana ( tastes just like it sounds) 160 calories. No carbs no aspartame. Sort of spendy ($5/bottle at GNC) still cheaper then Taco Bell though. They have a big tub in powder form but have only had the rtd stuff. Come in 9 flavors.
