I have Blue Cross as primary ins and Medicaid as secondary ins. I called Blue Cross yesterday and they only cover my surgery at 50%. Does anyone know if medicaid will pick up the remaining balance? Or how that works.....
-
My surgery was April 13th. So far Blue Cross has covered it. Haven't heard anything otherwise. Thank you for your reply

Surgery was April 13th. As of May 4th I was released to eat softer foods. The last couple days I've had a hard time eating. Every time I eat and drink it just sits like it's stuck then gurgles as it goes down. Or it won't go down at all and I get sick. Is this signs of a stricture?

Any Michigan Peeps?
mrscherry2010 replied to momma_missie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I live in northern Michigan as well! And from reading your post I'm pretty sure we live very close to one another!!! I had my surgery in Traverse City at Munson on April 13th. -
I just sent in my coordination of benefits letter from Blue Cross telling them I also had Medicaid and am waiting to see what is paid and who pays it. My surgery was over $30000 and I really hope I don't have to pay the hospital $15000!

What has been (or what was) people's reaction when you told them you were having WLS? I have had mostly positive reaction so far. I've had a couple people give me a odd look then say congrats but I know they don't mean it! But I don't let the negative Nelly's get to me

70 lbs down in 4 months
mrscherry2010 replied to berkeleycurves's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Also keep in mind that clothing makers are all different too. Many of the plus size clothes are made so that weight gain/loss isn't so noticeable in sizes.... You may be in a 3x shirt or pants and lose 30 lbs or more before before you change sizes. Where as if your in a size 7/8 and gain or lose 30 lbs the size is much more noticeable. Make sense? -
Very sore throat?
mrscherry2010 replied to turndown4what91's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most likely from the breathing tube during surgery. Mine was horrible. And if they kept you on oxygen during your stay it makes it worse. My surgery was Monday and my throat is finally starting to feel better. Eat ice chips and sugar free popsicles. -
Just curious if anyone suffered from migraines before surgery and if so did they go away after surgery or worsen??

With my pending surgery coming up I want to be prepared.... For the people who have been through it already, what were some of the things you bought to be prepared?

I tried them and didn't care for it. The one that I like is the Yoplait 100 Greek. Good source of protein and yummy too.... -
How long from first consult to surg date?
mrscherry2010 replied to doyouhear's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my consult on December 1st and had to have chest X-ray, blood work twice, 2 nutrition support meetings, meet a dietician and have a psyc eval. Now my pre-op appt is the 26th and surgery is scheduled for the 13th of April. Once you get the ball rolling it goes fast! -
April 13th I'm excited, nervous, scared and anxious all rolled up into one big ball of nerves!!!
-
It's gonna be a good day!!!!
-
I think going through the motions to get the date is extremely hard emotionally as well as physically! But the minute I heard that date it's like a huge weight is lifted off my shoulders. I knew my hard work was paying off.... Now I'm preparing myself for the next step! I'm ready! Congrats to everyone that has received their date as well!

Dr. Huizenga Comment on "Biggest Loser" Finale
mrscherry2010 replied to Susanjoyce392's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I just watched it last night and heard that comment as well! This was the first season I really paid attention to it and that kinda pissed me off. He made it seem like WLS is a walk in the park and quick fix. I watched that show for some inspiration but now I probably won't watch again. That man apparently has no idea. -
I have Blue Care Network of Michigan insurance. I'm trying to get my psych eval scheduled. Does that fall under the Weight Reduction category or does it fall under Psychological Services?
