    Shoulder pain relief?

I found it easier to sleep on back with pillow under my knees. Glad to hear you are doing well.

My surgery is scheduled for 9-19-14

It went very well. I walked around my livingroom once every hour for 5 min. Sipped on water and V8 infusion light. Used the breathing thing. Slept well. A little tender when lying on my side. When I was lying flat I had pillow under my knees. And my cat actually was on my chest/abdomen and it didn't hurt. Today I walked 2.5 miles in the sun. It was hard towards the end, might have done too much too soon, but now I only have 900 steps tp get my 10,000 steps for the day. Thanks for asking.

    Shoulder pain relief?

I just got home from my band. Walk, walk, walk. I got home at 430 and walked right away 5 times around my livingroom and used the breathing thing. It really helps. I have been doing little burps. Getting Gas-x and pain med now.

My surgery is scheduled for 9-19-14

I'm in the preop holding area waiting to go back to the OR. Lost 14.6 since I started the preop diet on 9-3-14 and my BS down to 103 from 176. See you on the postop side.
  7. I was tired the first week. I've been walking 10000 steps and I usually do the first 5-6000 while at work. By the time I am finishing the 10000+ steps I am ready to crash. My preop diet was just for 2 weeks but I started 2 days early. Plus mine is 2 shakes and 4 oz lean meat plus 1 cup each of veggie and fruit - and only selection of 5 fruits and 5 vegetables. How long is your preop period?

    Nerves picking up

My preop diet has been 2 high protein, low carb and low fat shake us one meal of 4 oz lean meat, and 1 cup each if veggies and fruit, but only choice of five kinds. Two snacks of SF Popsicle or jello and unlimited 10 cal drinks. I've lost 14# since July 15 when I signed up for the band.

    Nerves picking up

Not yet. My banding is this coming Friday. I'm sure as the week passes I will get nervous. When is your surgery?

    Got my Surgery Date

Mine is the 19th...of September. Next Friday. Good luck!
  14. I started my preop diet 2 days earlier than I needed to. I see my surgeon next Wednesday and my banding is next Friday. My diet now is much stricter. Two meals are protein shake (minimum of 20 gm protein, 7 gm or less of carbs and 4 gm or less of fat) and one meal that is 4 oz lean meat/poultry/fish plus 1 cup of choice of 5 veggies and 1 cup of choice of 5 fruits. I found a shake that has 30 gm protein and 3 gm fat and 4 carbs...Premier Protein brand and only has 160 calories. Since the 5th I have list 10.8 #. I'm really excited to the surgery done and the 3 weeks after and start and start my new journey with food. Good luck on your banding.
  15. I hope the stress test goes okay for you so you can have the band and start losing weight.

    Pre-Op Diet

I will definitely try the 1.5 hr trick.
  17. I read one the replies and see that your surgeon was in the north part of Houston. I am in Spring. If you ever want to talk let me know. I am going through True Results, mainly due to my insurance not covering weight loss surgery. My niece had her band through the San Antonio True Results...the band, in March and has lost 60#. I am scheduled for my band on the 19th. I have been on the preop diet since last Wednesday and as if this morning had lost 9.4#. I have been on many different diets and always go back to big portions and gain all the weight back. I finally decided after much deliberation that I needed a tool to help me with portion control. I know that I can still make the choice to eat incorrectly but I am going to pray to God to help me and give me the strength to do this. I have several friends that have succeeded and less friends that have not been successful. I hope that those failures will make me more aware and make better choices.

Say a Prayer, OR this AM

Thanks! I am a nurse and I know about laparoscopic shoulder pain. It is the air that is used to inflate the abdomen and being active is best way to help rid it.

So glad to hear it went well. And that you are losing. Do you mind if I ask how it was for you the day of your surgery?

briefs199, I just looked prior posts and see that you are the one whose husband wasn't being as supportive as you wanted. I am glad that you are going to be able to have the surgery even if it was a little longer to wait.

Well, good luck to you, too!
  23. I am a RN and have been for 41 years. There are physicians/surgeons and as many as there are there are that many different opinions. Not saying that one is wrong or the other right, just different views and experiences. I opted for the band because I didn't want to have the risk of something going wrong with the incisions, since I am a diabetic and there is increased risk of postop complications. I know that I can still have something go wrong, but I wanted the least invasive procedure. Go with your gut. Get a second opinion. Good luck.
