I just saw some comments in earlier posts that smelled of bigotry and I wanted to offer a counter position based on this country's history. I don't like the way the conversation is turning so I won't participate in that aspect of it. gadget lady I watched coverage from CNN APT Fox and MSNBC. 5 or 10 brown people in a midst of tens of thousands of whites is not a true representative of diversity. I don't expect you to understand that so I won't try to convince you otherwise. The truth speaks for itself. What channel were you watching?

I just wanted to add that I am not supporting obama because he is half-black. Hey morons come in all races! I am so proud that so many Americans white black Asian etc. are giving him a chance. This is truly a remarkable country!

leah: I would not call a person that says obama/biden is osama bin laden. I would call that thinking something else. But I don't call names nor do I personally attack people. You should feel free to post how you feel. We are all here for a common purpose. However when you make certain statements that resemble racism people are going to make certain assumptions. Like I said in an earlier post we have to be careful about counting people out based partly on their name. Think about the name Washington. When you here it you think about the great George Washington- and rightfully so. When I hear it and i hear it a lot because it is a very common name in my community I thing about George washington as one of he largest slave owners. Just in case you ever wondered why there we so many blacks named Washington. Their ancestors belonged to George. So the name obama doesn't scare me so much. See he can trace his name and ancestry. So to people like me that is fantastic! I am proud that I can know my history and still be a true American. I embrace my fellow citizens based on who they are and not the names that they were given. If I can do it knowing that my people have just recently been allowed to participate in politics then everyone should. I think the way you stereotyped obama's name really ticked people off. I hope you will continue to feel safe posting how you feel on lbt. We truly have more on common than this thread.

pre- rehab rush or post? I'm just saying. As an african American woman I am proud to support a party that includes people that look like me. Be it the republican party or the democratic party. The thing is that when I watched the rnc I didnt see myself in the audience. America is a diverse nation yet the rnc looks more like a Klan rally. I am not being mean or stereotypical I am just saying that if the republicans made an effort to reach out to voters like myself then perhaps I would give them a chance. And by the way insulting or making sarcastic remarks about a person that against odds has achieved the American dream only pissed off people that look like me. They might as well spit on MLKs grace. my insurance is through my employer. But my mom has an independent policy through blue cross. All we did to we that up was call them fill out the form and pay the premiums. You could start by calling some different companies. I would also try posting this question on the general forum as well.

I am not familiar with the process for self pay. If your insurance does not cover have you ever thought about finding an individual plan that does cover the surgery and paying the premiums.

sad fact: some people will walk into their polling place and not vote for obama because they believe he is a Muslim with ties to known terrorists. Some of these people will also state that they see not racist. They use " I have a black friend" mantra as evidence. Riddle me this: what if black people in thus country never voted for a White person or was scared of White people because somewhere down the line their ancestors owned slaves or belonged to the kkk( my people could tell you first hand about terrorist attacks) what if native Americans never gave a White person a chance because their ancestors put them on reservations or tried to eliminate them through disease ( they would probably call them terrorists too) Fortunately, I come from a forgiving and open minded people that will vote their conscious and not stereotype someone based on rumours or ancestry.

Jason I want to be like you when I grow up! nmydash: my experience was dumiksr hb shawna. The nutrition class was great and veronica was awesome. There were about 25 of us. Veronica gave a pp presentation and went over an informative booklet that u tshe hms. The nutritionist will give you some great tips. You will also get a letter that u have to take back to the office to go in your file. Veronica also went to her office and gave away all of her samples of a protein shake that she didn't like the taste I had my preop today. Just urine and two vials of blood no EKG or stress test. I was shocked. Afterwards I went to see dr miles. Schmitt is my surgeon but miles filled in for him today. He answered questions that u had and that was that. I think they have decided to only offer the realize band. Miles said tgatcitvis easier to put in and takes 20 min less time! He said basically if someone demanded the lap band over the realise would have to justify their request. That's a new an interesting twist. I will be banded on Tuesday and I can't wait! Also I paid my copay for the hospital by phone when they called to do my registration.

good luck on your approvals. I started calling everyday from the time that my paperwork was sent off. I mean everyday sometimes twice a day ! It took 2.5 weeks for approval. It would have been less but they lost some of my info. It will happen for you!

I began this process last October. Oct. -attended seminar nov-began six mos diet(really 7) dec-surgeon consult July- approved by blue cross aug- support group and nutrition class Jump through the hoops and get approve! Time will fly!

ok. I have not posted to this thread in a while but now I have to say something. I was glued to the tv just so that I could learn about Palin first hand-from her own mouth. What does she do? Praise McCain and Indult Obama the whole time. Is that what she stands for? That's it? She was hurling insults as if she was at the improv. Who wrote her speech? The same guys that do the opening monologue for SNL? Home run? No. Screen actors guild award. Possibly. If she gets dogged out its her fault. She took the gloves off. Game on! I also do not blame her for her daughter's preg. I do blame her for being an irresponsible leader She propped her daughter up on stage with a now obvious belly holding her boyfriend's hand. The message that she sent to the girls on the high school where I work as well as those around the country was that you can get preg and then flaunt it with your boyfriend as if they are an adult couple rather than two children that are having sex. How can I trust her to use administrative powers responsibly when she has already used such poor judgement? And for what? Smoke and mirrors? you can put a tuxedo on a pig but it is still a pig.
