aprilapple replied to justicenyce's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have heard great things about carols daughter. But I have never used it. I bought some raw shea butter preop. I can't wait to start using something because my largest incision looks like it is going to keloid. Let us know how the cd works. -

aprilapple replied to speck's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That is probably the most awesome story that anyone has ever shared on this site! Congratulations and my prayers are with you. -
I have lost 5 also. I am thinking that as I go from Clear liquids to full liquids it may slow down a bit

Are We Ready For A Woman VP?

Although we may not always agree on politics, I do share your some of your sentiments. -
I have read about BCBS of IL on the message boards. I am so sorry that this process is difficult for you. Especially in light of the personal issues that you have had to deal with in the past 3 years. File the appeal! Don't let them take the fight out of you. I read somewhere that they hope that you give up so that they don't have to pay. Also, go ahead and register for school. That will help you to stay busy while the appeals is being processed. I will be praying for you. Please keep us posted or just vent if you feel the need.

1 Hr 30 Min until I report for surgery!
aprilapple replied to aprilapple's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks ladies for checking on me! The gas is moving south-yippee! My calf was achy and crampy yesterday so the doc asked me to come in. They looked at it under ultrasound and didn't see any clots. They told me to get my liquids in and drink orange juice for potassium. So I have been downing the OJ and the leg feels better. Drinking is easier since the gas is passing and now I know what hunger pains feel like. I ordered some coconut Soup to go from the Thai restaurant and added Water to ward off the spice. Yummy to my new little tummy. This morning I am drinking Campbell's cream of chicken and herb soup mixed with a can of water. My tummy likes that too. I hope that I will be able to return to work on Monday as planned. Thanks sistas again for checking on me. You all are truly an important part of my recovery. BTW, I am watching the View and they are ripping Senator McCain a new one! Holla! -
Hi Breanna: I would say get a copy of your insurance coverage / guidelines. Make sure that you meet these guidelines then go to a seminar. After the seminar make a consultation visit with the surgeon. Usually at that point the insurance coordinator will advise you on your next steps.

My calf started feeling numb then like it had a cramp so I called the dr office and they told me to come in. They looked at it under ultrasound and everything was ok. She said I needed to get my fluids in, which has been hard because of the gas but that is getting better on my tummy and chest. It has moved to my shoulder. I got coconut soup from Surin West for variety. I will add a little water if it is seasoned too much. They also told me to drink OJ-I think the lack of fluids may have led to the cramps. The OJ will add potassium. Ttyl -

Hey yall I'm ba-ack! My surgery went well. I had to wait a little longer because the surgery before me went over time. But that was ok. All of the nurses were really great to me. I am at home and gas is literally about to take me out! The gas x strips are not working. Omg! What can I do? I am doing a lot of walking. I have never had gas pains like this. If only it would pass from the right end! Help. Any suggestions? I know I'm not getting enough liquids but the gas hurts too bad:0( but I must say that I am so proud of myself. Thanks to all of my friends here for thinking about me! -
Hello samurai family! I was banded yesterday and the surgery went well. Ok here is the low down: I was told to be at the hospital at 8:30 and that I would go into surgery around 10:00. Well the surgery before me ran late. I didn't get rolled back to anestheia until 11:30. I was able to lie in bed and watch tv during the wait. I even took a nap. The nurses were all very nice to me and my husband. They even signed a card for me to take home. The first nurse in recovery had a band so that was cool. I did war from surgery in pain and was given liquid pain relief. I was ready to go around 5:00. My husband got my rx gilles at the hospital so that saved time. Gas is horrible! Nothing like I expected. It is just painful. I wish I could pass it from my bottom but its not that kind of gas. The gas x drips are not working! I might try childrens mylecon. Also, I could barely get anything down as far as liquids because the gas is so painful. I have been walking a lot andvuring the incentive breathing device that they gave me. I think I am beginning to feel hunger pains now but before I couldn't tell the difference between those pains and gas. I love my liquid loritab. And taking a hot shower was heaven. Thanks for letting me share. Good luck to all.

ebonyrose I agree. I started nesting like I was pregnant. I bought food for my clear liquid and full liquid post op diet. I cleaned and organized my kitchen cabinets, put a new comforter on my bedand cleaned carpets. I even bought several new pairs of pjs. It all made time pass quickly plus I felt more confident going into surgery.

aprilapple replied to aprilapple's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
please don't have fear. I know its a normal reaction but know that God is able and true. I just asked God to guide my surgeon's hand. I told the anesthesiologist to knock me out but bring me back! -

Hi everyone! My surgery went well yesterday. I was extremely sore ( thank God for liquid loritab) gas hurts the worst. The strips are not working. I have been walking a lot to ward off blood clots and it moves the gas around but not out! I can't drink much. I think because the gas hurts. I'll keep posting updates. Please give me advice on this painful gas. This is some bull shiggity! -
Girl, I know I have been there! Just hold on to your faith, be persistent, and jump through those hoops. Your day will come. My hubby was my only support until recently when I told my mom (3days before surgery) now he can get back to football- go Buffs...

RANT: I will be 2yrs post-op before I tell my momma!
aprilapple posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
dinner (sushi:tt2:). now my mom starts talking about this dead cousin and her bypass. Then she starts talking about my aunt's friend and her bypass and the complications that followed. So I said... People have to do what's best for them and when they run into problems then we have to support them. Not beat them up about what they should not have done. Then she replied: Well commom sense would tell them not to do something that could kill them. So I said: Being fat could kill them. (I can smell somethings up, she doesn't give up that easily) Now I am on my way out the door with my teenage niece who by the way has been overweight since she was a little girl and my mother starts talking about how she is worried about me and how they were looking at old pics of me and my uncle commented that "april used to be a slim jim". So I was like: Ohh this is what this is about. She was like: I am just worried. How about ordering nutrisystem and trying that: Is it too expensive? I'll pay for it. Now how do I feel? That's the very reason I am not telling my family about my band (just my dh). Especially my mother. First of all she doesn't have a clue about wls, only what she has heard. She is as strong willed as I am so I could never make her understand the band. I refuse to let someone piss on my hopes. So she can go ahead and order me the nutrisysytem. All I need to know is: How can I resell it on e-bay?Holla! (In my best Tyra Banks voice) -
Hey I see that you are getting sucked into the "are we ready for a woman vp thread." I spent some time there also. My advice? DON'T GO INTO THE LIGHT. I swear the things that people believe and try to justify. Getting a point of reason across is like hitting your head against a brick wall. Good luck! I'll peek in on you from time to time. Just to see if you are keeping your sanity while you are over there.
