I am glad that I'm not the only one that hates to hear " you are SKINNY". I don't see myself skinny, as a matter of fact, I have a problem seeing myself thin, in my eyes, I still AM FAT!!! Well that's a different topic, but at work people keep telling me to stop losing sooo much weight, I am starting to look sick, how much more do I want to lose, and the best one is: Do you have a eating problem. YES, I DID HAVE A EATING PROBLEM!!!! I have gone from weighing 255lbs. to a weight of 134lbs. and it feels great physically.

I have Blue Cross Blue Shield Indemnity and they covered up to 1 yr. follow up including fills. I now pay $70 for a fill plus my $20 copay.

Passing For Thin - Support Thread for Those Approaching Goal
vanesav replied to JulieNYC's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have lost 111 lbs. and feel great, the problem is everyone else sees the difference except for me. In my eyes I see myself still weighing at 255 lbs. eventhough I weigh 144 lbs. My initial goal was to lose 100 lbs. which would put me at 155lbs. but I've been losing weight without trying and I wonder is it because mentally I don't see myself as being small. My fiance, family, and co-workers all tell me I look great but when I look at myself in the mirror, I still see the same FAT person I was before. I love shopping, which was a thing a hated before due to wearing a size 22/24, now I wear a size 10 bottom and large top. No matter what size clothing I buy, I still look in the plus size dept. at times. Does anyone else feel this way, and if so, how do you deal with it? Any feed back would be great!!!!! Thanks:help: -
Who Has Lost Over 100 Pounds?!?!
vanesav replied to Rockin' Robyn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
On the day of surgery, my weight was 255 lbs. That was on 9/19/05, and now 5/22/07, I am down 101 lbs. It feels sooooooooooooooooo goooooooooooooooooood to see 100 lbs off. Last time I weighed this was probably in middle school. -
I started out at 22/24 top and 22 or 24 bottom, I am currently at a size 12 regular in the bottom and xl in tops. I would love to get to a size med. top and a 7/8 bottom.

Jachut, Very Well Said!!!! You Gotta Learn To Accept Yourself And Be Happy With Yourself!!! We Have All Come A Long Way And Accomplished Our Biggest Problem: Weight!!!! The Rest Is Small Stuff, You Can Either Accept It Or Have Ps Surgery To Solve The Problem, But I, Myself, Don't Have That Type Of Money, So I Will Just Have To Accept My Bat Wings!!!

I have 3.6 cc in a 4 cc band. This is my spot and hope to get to goal of 150 lbs. soon(160 lbs. now).:clap2:

What is your current fill in your 4cc band?
vanesav replied to Paulax's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My current fill is 3.6 and this is my spot. I have restriction that I needed now, I am 10lbs. from my personal goal of 155lbs., at that point I have lost a total of 100lbs. I would probably lose another 10-15 lbs. and then just maintain. It feels so good to talk about my weight and not feel embarrased!!!! -
what is the price you pay here in the states for fills ?
vanesav replied to CLAUDIAGDLMEX's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My fills are done in my drs. office without fluoro, just a long spinal needle. He charges $75, which compared to what everyone else pays, it is pretty cheap!!! I have not had any bad experiences with this dr. yet, hope to keep it that way. -
Hi! I've been banded a little over a year, I have no problems or regrets, the only thing is that lately I've been experiencing heartburn just about every day!!!! I chew a TUMS and I'll be fine, I just don't want to have to rely on TUMS forever. Any suggestions are welcomed, BTW, I don't eat spicy or fried foods, so it can't be that.:help:

Working stiffs, how long...
vanesav replied to winner's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had surgery on Monday and returned to work the next Monday. I was a little sore in the port area but other than that I was fine. I work at a health center as a med tech. so I am on my feet all day. Overall, it was not a bad experience.:nervous -
What is your current fill in your 4cc band?
vanesav replied to Paulax's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded in 9/2005 and I have 3.4cc in a 4cc. This is definitely my sweet spot, most likely won't need a fill in a long time.:clap2: -

i wanted to share my day at the doctors
vanesav replied to loveulots17lov's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My Fills Are Done Without Lidocaine And Definitely Without A Fluoroscope. My Third Fill Was The Worst Due To Fact My Port Was Sitting Sideways Because I Had Lost Weight, My Dr. Could Not Get In The Port, After About Ten Pokes, He Decides To Use Lidocaine And Finds The Port Right After That. My Last Fill (4th) Was The Best And Was Done By My New Dr. Who Seems Alot More Experienced In The Fills Department. Sure Am Glad I Got Him Because He Has Given Me The Restriction I've Needed Since My Surgery. -
10 CC band- How many CCs to get restriction?
vanesav replied to Leona06's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I Have A 4cc Band And Have 3cc Of Fill. This Is My 4th. Fill And The One That Gave Me Restriction That I Needed. I Get My Fills With No Lidocaine And They Use A Big Spinal Needle. The Only Time I Had A Problem With A Fill Was With My Third Fill Because I Had Lost Weight And My Port Was Sitting Sideways, After About 10 Pokes With The Long Needle He Decided To Give Me Some Lidocaine, And Who Would Have Known, He Found The Port Right After That. I Love My Band And Am Very Happy With My Decision To Have Lapband Instead Of Gastric Bypass. -
Dear RTWISDALE, Thanks!! Come on everyone join us in the Labor Day challenge, we have 4 weeks from today. You just have to weigh in once a week until Labor Day. I am at 202 lbs. today and my goal is to lose 12lbs. by the deadline. It will feel so good to be in onederland, have not been there since high school well over 16 years ago. Good Luck to EVERYONE AND THANKS!!!!!!!!:clap2:
-
Hey, RTWISDALE, how are you? My goal for this month is 12 lbs., wish to be atleast 190 by Labor Day. I believe this could really be good to make a pact with someone else who has the same goal as I have. We could start this today and weigh in in exactly 4 weeks from today which will be Labor Day. If you have a different goal, let me know. Once again thank you.:clap2:
-
HI, rtwisdale, it does feel so good to share such info as my weight and not feel as though i will be judged about my size. I didn't quite make the deadline, but i sure did lose and feel so good. I am now at 200lbs., I hope I lost some more this weekend and hopefully I will be in onederland when I get on the scale tomorrow at work. I have not been in the onederland since my high school years and now my daughter is going to the high school, so i definitely feel good about where i am at with my weight now. I still have about a good 50 lbs. more to go and I know with the great support on this website, I will make it and feel good about it. Thanks you guys for being such great SUPPORT. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE ON THEIR JOURNEY!!!!!!:clap2:

I also heard about the needle puncturing your tubing, I had the same experiece with the fill before my last one. I have a 4cc band, and my doc supposedly gave me a total of 2.75, but I felt more restriction before that than I did after it. I could eat chicken, bread and even a burger, which I had not eaten since being banded in 9/05. My weight loss was very slow, and I mean slow. My doctor left the practice and a new doc came in, I called worried about being able to eat so much just after getting a fill, the new doc asked me to come in and checked to see how much fill I had, and to my surprise, my band was completely EMPTY. He gave me a fill that totaled 3 cc, and was I ever so restricted. He said that the last fill probably didn't go into my tubing, the needle might have slipped out of the port and the fill was injected in my body instead. Well whatever it was, I am glad its over with because I was so worried about having surgery again. After this last fill, 4 weeks ago, I have lost about 18 lbs., which is extremely good for me, because before i would loose about 7-8 lbs per month. Good luck and I hope you don't have a punctured tube. Keep us posted.:Banane56:

Which side is your port?
vanesav replied to CanadaSunshine's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My port is on my right side, just under my ribcage. I didn't have an option as to where I wanted it, but it does bother me at times, especially when I'm turning over in my bed at night. Other than that, I have no major complaints about it. It is easily accessed during my fills. Thank GOD for that!!!! -
This is exactly what I needed, a challlenge to keep me going!!!! Today is July 6 and I weigh 209, this means by August 5th. I should be at 198 and loving it, under the 200 mark. Thanks:clap2:

Please post about your complications
vanesav replied to gadgetlady's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had my surgery on 9-19-05, got my first fill in Nov. but still had no restriction. Then I got my second fill on 12-21-05 and boy do I have restriction now. There is a big difference in having a fill, I have lost about 8 lbs. in 9 days and I feel good. Luckily, I haven't had any complications with my band and am ever so glad I had this surgery done. ;-) ;-)
