Try putting some ice in with the fruit to thin the drink out. I've found that to be helpful. -

jrg1979, I have been trying things out so that I know what I like before I get the surgery. Try "Muscle Milk" -- you can get it at GNC. It has a pretty pleasant taste and it's smooth. I've tried banana Creme & Light chocolate Milk. Another alternative would be the NEW Low Carb Slim Fast...both Creamy Chocolate & vanilla are good. I usually blend the slimfast with ice and two strawberries. It makes the chocolate and vanilla taste good. It has 20g of protein. Also very little carbs. -
Last Thursday, February 21, 2008 my paperwork was resubmitted to Aetna after doing their 3-month pre-op diet. Per the doctor's office it should take about a week to get a response. Wish me luck!!! I just think I might be devastated if they coming back saying I have to do something else to get approved. I'm thinking positive though and praying that I finally get APPROVED.

Thanks Circa for the info. I guess I will be appealing when I finish the 3-month pre-op diet.

I have Aetna. They are very strict about their requirements. I have to do the 3-month supervised pre-op diet. Hopefully I will be approved sometime in March. Good Luck!

How long is the process????
NeNe967 replied to My Life Back's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The process didn't take long for me at all. I am just awaiting insurance approval now. Check out my signature at the bottom for my timelines. Also, it does depend on the doctor's availability. Lastly, for pre-op appointments I had to see: Psychologist, Cardiologist, Dietician, Pulmonoligist (Lungs), and Letter from PCP recommending surgery. -

Sherry, Did you have to do anything special to get AETNA to approve. I just finished the required appointments, but the surgeons office has not submitted for approval yet. -
Anyone know more about the docs in Georgia?
NeNe967 replied to Michmoze's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hey Kathy, I just finished my last appointment yesterday. They needed to reveiw my file, and get a letter from my PCP with my weight history for the last five years. I am suppose to call the office later this week to see if I need to see the dietician for 3 months (this month included) before surgery. If not, they will submit and hopefully I can get an approval. If I get the approval back quickly, I plan on having the surjery ASAP in Janaury 2008. If not, the soonest I could do the surgery (that is satifiying the dietican schedule and getting insurance approval) would be mid-February 2008. Wish me luck!!! -

I passed the Psych visit...I'm not crazy. She call me within a half hour after I left her office. She said she'd be send the report over the Surgical Weight Loss Office. Pretty much you have an interview first that lasts about 20 minutes and then you have to do this T or F questionnaire that has almost 600 questions on it. That's what takes the most time. -
Anyone know more about the docs in Georgia?
NeNe967 replied to Michmoze's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
First I had my one-on-one with Dr. Steinberg. Now I have to see a Psychologist, Dietician, Pulmonologist and Cardiologist. I have set up all these appointments already and will be done with all of them by December 3. I have my Psych visit today at 10:30 a.m. They have doctors that they work with all the time and it make the process go smoother, however, I already had a Psychologist so I decided to go with her for my Bariatric Clearance. -

Yes, I have Aetna and it is one of their requirements to be approved. If you go to their website, you can look it up. It will tell you step by step what is required.

Kathy, I was at the same seminar as you. I really enjoy Dr. Menachery's presentation. What did you think? How far long are you in the process? -

Sghti, I have just stared the required doctors visits and will be banded with the Dekalb Medical Centers once everything is approved. I, too, am having trouble deciding who will do my surgery. They both are very likable. Who did you decide to go with. Sincerely, Tunisia -
Chickie, You have been so inspiring to me. Put put the info back. I was trying to show my friend today about how successul lap band had been for you and a few others. People like you give us folks that are just starting hope. Don't let the HATERS run you away. You are a MOTIVATOR for so many...like me.

What is the body bugg? I'm in the process of doing the steps to get banded, but also researching every aspect as I get ready for surgery.

Has anyone had problems with a high reading on their c-reactive protein level and with lapband surgery it was reduced?
