I too started exercising 3 days per week and yes the inches comes right off. I am even starting to loose 2 lbs. per week or more. I was banded December 4th. I have had 5 fills so far to date and I am now at my sweet spot. I asked my nurse how they could give fills so soon and so often and she said it was all up to the clinic. The makers of the band are the ones that suggest waiting (very cautious). My nurse gave me my first fill after 3 weeks of being banded. She told me to call if I did not get any restriction. I called in 7 days and I went back in. I even went in 2 times in one week. I got a 6cc fill on Jan. 10 which brought me to my sweet spot. Life is good. I advise anyone to be agressive with their fills. After all, isn't the point to the banding of getting to the place where you are not hungry. I am 56 years old and I have lost 36.5 lbs to date. Also, I started eating solids on the 7th day after being banded. My nurses advise is eat healthy and try things out. EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT. I have found I can eat anything as long as I chew, chew, chew.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
Sherrylea replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I everyone. I am 56 years old, 2 children and 4 grandsons. When my son moved to Wisconsin with his wife & 2 sons it was a rude awakening. Now I am concentrating my time, effort & money into taking care of Grammy (myself). November 4th I quit smoking, December 4th I was banded. So far I have lost a total of 35 lbs. I have been real agressive in my fills. Sometimes going in 2 times a week. I am now at what they call my sweet spot. Life is good. I bought a Bow-Flex and I am working out 3 days per week and 3 days per week on a stationary bicycle. The pounds started to melt off when I started excercising. I can't believe how easy being banded was/is. -

No, True Results will not take Mexico patients even with documentation. Maybe sometime in the future but right now no. -

True Results will take anyone that had the lap band in the USA. They will not take patients from Mexico. You will need documentation from your surgeon and there will be no problem. By the way, Amy Pope, the nurse that gives you the fill has the lap band. I looks like almost all of the people that work there have had it. It is really a great place to have your fills done. If you need a fluro. they call someone in and you have to request it. I do not know how much that costs. -

I was just in for my 5th fill yesterday in Austin at the True Results Weight Loss Center. The nurse is Amy Pope and she is wonderful with the fills. The cost is $100.00. Please give them a call. 610-1660. -
I used Chantex and on the 7th day, (November 4th) I quit smoking. I only used Chantex for 2 months. I had my lap band surgery Dec. 4th and I have never looked back. What I have noticed is that foods and smells are quite different. I actually enjoy eating healthy. A few weeks ago I broke down and had a Sonic hamburger and it was awful. I used to live on Sonic. There is life after smoking. :clap2:

Does your band loosen up two weeks post fill?
Sherrylea replied to Jhlopez's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It looks like what I am reading is that most doctor's want you to waite one month before getting a fill. I was banded in Austin, Texas December 4th by Dr. Marsden. Wonderful experience. I have received fills on: Dec. 18th Dec. 26th Dec. 31st Jan. 3rd @5 cc's Jan 9th, going in for another fill. I think I may get restriction today. The nurse that gives me my fills tells me to call after a couple of days if I don't fill restriction and come back in. I pretty well know if I get restriction by the time I leave the doctor's office because I have been able to swallow large amounts of Water easily. I am being very agressive with my fills because they are covered for the 1st year and I want to take advantage of it. After one year the fills cost $150.00. I guess what I am trying to say to everyone is if you can afford the fills be agressive. That is what the lap band is for. Don't let a month or month's go by and waist presious time. :clap2: -
I have a friend that had the lap band done January 2006 in Pocatello, Idaho. Since then she said that Idaho does not have anyone to give fills. I need to know if this is correct. Can you tell me the names and towns of Lap Band Doctor's in Idaho? Thanks:help:

If you have the AP lapband please respond
Sherrylea replied to melissatx's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had my surgery on Dec. 4th with a 12 cc AP band. First fill 12-26 to 2.5 cc's, Second fill 12-31 to 4.0 cc's Third fill 1-3 to 5.2 cc's I fill up quicker but I can still gulp fluids down. I don't think I am at my sweet spot so I will make another apointment for next week. I was reading some of the responses and it looks like around 6 cc's seems to be good for a lot of people. I hope so. I have lost 25 lbs. since 12-4 but the last two weeks I haven't lost anything. Keep the faith. Remember to eat to live not live to eat. -
Aubrie, my band is to the left of my belly button also but it is up higher. All of this is new to me too. I had my second fill Monday and I am going back tomorrow to get a third fill and have me x-rayed. So far I have 4cc's in my band and I have no restriction, plus it is difficult for the nurse to find my port. Like I said it has turned a little and is so close to my ribs that it is uncomfortable when I do get a fill. I will know more tommorrow. Eating doesn't have anything to do with my fill. Only when I slouch in my chair or when I am exercising, twisting, bending, can I feel the port rubbing against my rib. Be sure to ask you doctor about your situation and let me know. This may apply to me when I start getting restriction.

I was banded Dec. 4th and my port is high next to my rib. Every time I get a fill it pushes against my rib and causes a little inconvenience. I do feel it catching on my rib when I slump in the chair. The fill nurse told me that when I loose some of the fat, of which I have alot, the port should settle down. Hope this helps.

I didn't start smoking until I was 40. I started smoking to loose weight but hey, 270 lbs later and that didn't work. I did use chantix to quit smoking. It only took one month of taking it and I was through. I am so focused on getting healthy. I do a lot of talking to myself and it seems to be working. Keep trying and think about you, no one else. You deserve a healthy life. Remember to "EAT TO LIVE" not "Live to Eat".

I also quit smoking November 4th and was banded December 4th. I go to my doctor December 18th and if everything looks good I will get a fill. I hope so because I can eat whatever I want right now. I am still sticking to the diet of 3 meals/day and chew, chew, chew, so keep the habit going. So far I do not crave cigarettes, I am annoyed by them. My husband still smokes so it's hard in that I actually get nauseated from the smell. Try to keep focused!!!! You may try the sugar free popsicles when you feel a craving. I remind myself every time I put something in my mouth "EAT TO LIVE". don't live to eat. Best of luck.:clap2:

First 3 days post-op
Sherrylea replied to TXbandit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I was banded on Tuesday, Dec. 4th, 2007. I have never used the pain medication. I just feel sore. Your comment about it taking you 30 minutes to drink a cup of coffee is a good thing. It should take you 20 to 30 minutes especially this close after surgery. I had a hole in my diaphram that Dr. Marsden had to sew up while he was in there. My only restructions to return to work on Monday are no lifting over 5 pounds for 4 weeks. Other than that I have gone to the grocery store, washed dishes and 2 loads of clothes. I walk all the time. Life is Good.
