My third fill was this morning @ 7:15. Unfortunately our underground electrical service at the office went on the fritz yesterday leaving us without power. Since I run the network of several servers, it was my duty to show up at 5:00 am to get all systems working. Then I drove north 30 miles through traffic for my fill. I'd been fretting about the power as there was a chance it wouldn't be on this morning so I kept calling in to see if the voice mail came on. It was on at 4:00 am so I left for work. Boy am I TIRED. She only put in 1/2 a cc as we are getting down to fine tuning. She said I should come back in after one week this time if this isn't enough and she'll add another 1/2 cc. So far, I feel no hunger but some nausea probably because I didn't sleep. I ate hot Cereal after the fill. I hope this one is it but it will take some time for my band to react to the fill...probably a couple days. Take care all.

But you are at 6.2 cc's with only one fill!! I'm at 6.5 cc's with THREE fills. I like your way better!!
-
I could still eat too much though I had to be careful. I hope to get to about 1/4 to 1/2 cup max. We'll see.

How many CC's in your Inamed 10cc band?
kandiceb replied to shortgal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm at 6 ccs in my 10 cc band. I am getting closer but still can eat what I consider too much...1 cup or maybe more. To be really precise, I can eat 8 McD's chicken nuggets and be completely filled up and burping. If I'm not careful, I get stuck on those if I eat too quickly. I don't go anywhere without my little can of pineapple juice. That has saved me about six times. I've yet to officially PB. I think I need about 1 cc more to get to my spot...at least I hope so. I'm scheduled for 1/3/08 for my third fill. I am also playing around with 3 pounds up and down. I've got two more to go to get to Onederland. Take care all. -
My 10 cc band came with a 3 cc fill during surgery, I got a 2 cc fill 12/4 and I just got my second 1 cc fill this morning. I ate my Kashi GoLean hot Cereal with no problems. In fact, I don't feel a thing. I felt more with my first fill but then they removed all the Fluid to see how much was in the band from surgery and then increased it by 2 cc and that probably did some "damage" and I was hurting. No pain now. I've lost 4 pound from the first fill according to their scales which don't match mine at all. I guess the test will be lunch. I was told I can eat fairly soft foods the day of the fills. It looks like the new bands do a better job when they are at least at 7 1/2 to 8 ccs according to this forum. It will be interesting to see if anyone hits the "sweet spot" on their second fill. Take care.

Ate solid foods immediately after fills-feeling no restriction
kandiceb replied to Mary25's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've always eaten solid foods after my fills and haven't had any problems. I will say that my last fill two days ago is just now starting to kick in with a restriction. We are all different. The NWWLS where I got my band said I can eat after a fill just be careful. I would call your doctor's office for their opinion though I don't think eating solid foods is your problem. Take care. -
Two days past my second fill and I am definitely feeling more restriction than I did initially. I can't eat as much as after the first fill but I can still eat more than I think I should. I've dropped another 2 pounds and so something must be working correctly. 2 more then I'll be in the fabulous Onederland!! Yeah!! I've added cherry essence and orange essence prunes to my snack venue and that has helped my weight loss I believe. I am sure I need at least another 1 cc to be at the "sweet spot." Take care.

The nurse had problems finding my port on both fills. I had to lift both legs in the air to get the muscle to stand out that supports my port. She did get it but is wasn't easy. I had to do the same thing with the second fill. I just am not in good enough shape to do double leg lifts! :embarassed:
-
Ok. I had lunch. It was a cheese omlette and I had no more problems eating about 1/2 of it than I did before my second fill. It is almost like the second fill didn't happen. Dang. I had hoped for more of a difference. Does it take a while to register with my system that I had a fill? It surely didn't last time. Oh well. Onward and downward hopefully. Take care
-
No real restriction here either even after my first fill. I'm at 5 cc in my 10 cc band. I'm not terribly hungry, but I can eat way too much. I've only dropped 1/2 pound in the last couple weeks. (Is this Bandster Hell?) Anyway, 2nd fill tomorrow morning. I hope to get closer to the good restriction. Take care.
-
I guess neither one of us is at the correct level of restriction yet. I'm not dropping any more weight even though I do have to watch what I eat and how I chew. I've only have one fill so I'm at 5 cc on the 10 cc band. I've heard it might take up to 8.5 cc on this band. I'm holding on and at least I'm not gaining!

It finally happened to me last night while driving home. I was eating my dinner which was a McD's snack wrap and swallowed a piece of chicken that wasn't chewed. I thought I was going to die while I was driving. I wasn't at a point where I could pull over for some time. Finally, I got to a spot and ran around to the back of my Jeep for my pineapple juice. Next time, I'm carrying it in the front seat!! It helped but not as quickly as I would have hoped. But at least I didn't throw up. I sure hurt though. My DH is always following me saying "chew, chew, chew." I'm really bad at that. Ouch!! Take care.

Five days after my first fill and I can really tell the difference. I'm at 5 ccs in a 10 cc band. I went out to dinner Friday night and had a great chicken dinner. I ate about half the chicken and then knew I was done. In fact, I was afraid I had taken a couple bites too much. But I quit and it went away. It was a very nice restaurant and I certainly didn't want to make a spectacle of myself. I told my husband that I'd just get up and leave if things didn't calm down. So do I need another fill? I'm not hungry between real meals. I know when I'm done. If the food isn't a mushie I can only eat so much. Maybe I should leave well enough alone. I guess it depends on the weight loss. I've not gotten back on the scales for a few days. If I don't lose weight, I'll go for more 12/18. I will definitely have a restriction then...hopefully not too much. I've not done any PB stuff and I don't want to at this point. This is such a learning process. The "lunch bunch" at work are very supportive. They all kid me on who has to sit right accross from me though. They are afraid of the projectile probability. Take care.

I am definitely going to need a 2nd fill. With my 10 cc band being now at 5 cc's I can eat way too much food. It didn't take long to settle down after the fill. I believe others on the VG 10cc band say the differences between 6.0 to 7.5 are amazing. I'll probably be at 6 with my next fill which is 12/18/07. However, I am not as hungry as I was before the first fill. I am trying to eat only solid meats and veggies. I had yesterday's left over chicken strip for Breakfast and I wasn't at all hungry by lunch. That is a plus!! Take care.

Another report on my 1st fill...day after. I believe my problem yesterday with the pain was probably the spicy curry. I ate yogurt and Protein in the evening with no problems...of course that was mushie. The curry was very runny with some vegies that I chewed spitting out the skins on the peppers. The tofu was soft. The only no-no besides the spice was about 1/4th cup or less of rice I put in the curry to not have to drink it like a Soup. So all in all, I believe it was the spice. I definitely feel the extra 2 cc's along with the 3 I already had making my 10 cc band 1/2 full. I can tell I need to take smaller sips of coffee than before. Breakfast was my usual cream of wheat which I really like and is convenient to make at the office. I haven't even thought about being hungry since the fill. I think I may be getting closer to what I want but will have to wait until the swelling goes down. If not, I've the next fill in two weeks. Take care.
-
Ok Guys...now I see why they recommend not eating the same day as the fill. I'm the #10 AP band with a current fill of 5 which is an increase of 2 from surgery... Anyway, I ate cream of wheat for Breakfast after getting to the office from the early fill. That was a lump in my throat. I ate a regular lunch of curry with tofu because I was afraid to do chicken and just a couple spoons of rice and vegies...OUCH. I didn't do any PB, but i sure do hurt. Drinking cold fluids hurts. Maybe someone can learn from my mistake...don't eat regular food after a big fill.:sick Take care.

I felt very little with the 3 cc's I got originally. Now that I have 5, I cheated and ate my normal cream of wheat breakfast after the fill and I can tell I've got more in there. I know I'm probably not supposed to eat the day of the fill, but I did anyway. I can feel it sort of like a lump in my throat. I probably won't have a true picture until a couple days go by. I wasn't warned to not eat after the fill so I may eat a "normal" lunch and see how that works. Never a dull moment!! Take care.

I got my first fill this morning. I've got the new band that holds 10 ccs of Fluid and the doctors put in 3 ccs during the surgery. I got two more this morning. Other than having some problems finding it because of the scar tissue I have, it was pretty painless. (No numbing required.) I go in for another fill in two weeks. I need to remember to eat normally now...no more mushies because that is defeating my band. Also, no more Protein drinks because that adds unnecessary calories. I need to get the protein from the food (meat) that I'm supposed to be eating. It is too easy to eat stuff I know won't "hurt". I guess I need to get with the program now. No more baby steps. Take care.

My banding was 11/6/07 and I've yet to feel hungry. I can tell there is a "presence" in my stomach area but mostly I feel a mild indigestion when I've not "eaten" one of the Protein shakes in a timely manner. Ive felt a little hickup thing some time so I've quit eating at that point though I've not eaten all my "meal". I have the smaller AP band and Dr. Montgomery told me there would be a liitle restriction but not much. I was able to swallow Water after my surgery so they said I didn't need an x-ray. I just wonder when I'll feel hungry. Tomorrow will be a challenge because I return to work. I hope I can find enough energy to do that because I seem to be wearing out quickly. I'm just wondering how "normal" I am because I feel no hunger.

Amen!!!!!!!!!! Well said.

December 5th at 7:00 am. I'm definitely going to get a fill.

I'm just a few days beyond the 4 weeks and am really feeling good. I'm walking during breaks for 15 minutes daily unless the Seattle weather prevails and I would drown. I definitely feel I haven't much, if any, restriction and want a fill 12/05/07 at my appointment. I've eaten "regular food" but make sure it isn't too dry. I'm not hungry but when I've passed my eating time then my stomach hurts, I know I had better eat something...though not much. I could eat more but don't want to. When I eat a couple bites more than I think I should, I can feel it and it hurts. I just don't feel restricted like I think I should. But this is all so new and who knows if I'm feeling correctly. Take care.

My surgery was done at NW WeightLoss Surgery:

Great post! Welcome to our club. :clap2: Glad all went well during your banding. I had the internal dissolving stitches so no worries about staples. When is your first fill? I'm currently in "Bander's Hell" waiting for my first fill 12/05/07. This is when there really isn't any restriction and I'm well enough to start getting an appetite. This is where the willpower and drive you mentioned takes over until the band does its thing. Take care.

It is interesting to see how different people are responding to this question. My banding was 11/06 and I am still not feeling hungry. HOWEVER, my stomach does start to growl when it's time to eat...but I don't FEEL hungry. The best thing is that I'm loosing weight and feeling SO MUCH BETTER. After I complained bitterly about my pain, three days later it went away. I slept in my bed for the first time last night. I've had to sleep in a recliner or on the really soft couch to protect my stomach. Take care and have a great Thanksgiving all!!
