My surgery is also Jan.8th. I do fine during the day, til about 4-5 pm then I am starving. Last night I made chicken noodle soup using chicken broth carrots, celery, onions and ramen noodles. I set out to only have the broth but ended up eating some noodles. This just made me even more hungry. Now I feel so bad. I have to get serious or I wont be banded. So far so good today, but I'm cleaning house trying to keep busy. Good luck.

:clap2::whoo:Hi all. It's been a long 7 months, but I got my approval December 10th. I thought I'd never hear from insurance. The paperwork was submitted to Cigna November 16th. I was beginning to worry, well worry even more. I've worried my friends, my family and my husband till they are sick of hearing about it. NA they are proud that I want to do something about my weight. Like most it's been a life long battle. When I got the call, my preschool class was about to go outside. My assistants laughed as I chanted, I'm gonna get skinny! I goto Dr. Spaw Monday the 17th. I guess for pre-op and visit with him. They say he doesn't have any more December dates open, but it might be January. That's fine with me. I can start the year off with a resolution to loose weight and hoepfully this tool will get me there. Now for the pre-op diet. I start it next week. Good luck to all! Felicia

I am going to Baptist, Dr. Spaw will be doing my surgery. I have to go the 27th for upper gi and blood work, then another visit with him to go over everything. I start preop the 26th, so I've been cleaning out the sweets and stocking up on broth, protein shake from GNC, and sf popsicles. I hope to be in the "one-der land" by this time next year. :)Thank you all for being such good friends. If this forum weren't here I don't know what I'd have done. Yesterday I had a protein shake at lunch and did pretty good. But today was my preschoolers Christmas party and someone brought in peanut butter chocolate covered balls. Chocolate is my weakness. I just keep telling myself that this is going to be worth it all and that on December 26th I will have to start the pre-op diet. I just love this site! Good luck to everyone! Felicia:girl_hug:

Hi sorry for the late reply. I tried replying at school, were I teach, and for some reason it stuck on the webpage. I live in Lynchburg, Jack Daniels area. I'm about 2 hours south of Nashville. I go to the doctor in the morning. I hope to find out my surgery date then. I was hoping for December but Jan is ok too. It just isn't gettn here soon enough. Good luck to us both. We are on our way! :clap2:Congratulations Jalee. I just found out this week that my insurance approved the surgery. I go for pre-op next week and dr. visit. I start my liquid diet after that. I don't have a date yet but should know next week. I bought the GNC mix berry protein, why drink. It's not bad. I have been trying to get used to it. I like it with ice in it. I hope that's ok. I look each time I shop for something I think I can have on the pre-op diet. Good luck to you. Felicia

:clap2: I have Cigna as well. I started the process in July, after 2 years of research. My paperwork was filed November 16th. I got the call Monday, December 10th that I was approved!!! I couldn't believe it. With so much disappointment in my life, I thought the worse. I go for my pre-op and dr visit Monday December 17. I should know then when my surgery is. It looks like January. That's ok with me. Start the year off with a new me. I didn't call Cigna at all. My Dr. office took care of it all. I had everything but the 6 months weight loss, completed back in August. I thought I'd never get the rest. I do know you have to turn it all in together. Cigna wont accept if the paperwork comes in all separated. Good luck I hope you get the approval soon.

:sick I havent gotten my date for surgery yet, hoping for November or December. I thought I'd try the protein drinks and get used to them. I bought the 100% whey protein drink from gnc berry mix. It taste good but after drinking it, i guess 20 min later my stomach started cramping and i felt kind of sick. Is this normal? Hoping to get insurance approval soon. This weight is driving me nuts. appalcart I hope you don't have to wait much longer!. I haven't heard anything yet. I guess with the holidays and all it will take a few extra days. I sure hope they hurry. I'd like to start off a new year in "band" style.

I'm not sure. It dependss on how much they want up front, if any. I'd call and ask your dr. I live in TN and I am having my surgery with Dr. Spaw in Nashville, Baptist hospital. Good luck. F

Thanks for the advice. I thought it might be the whey. I have never been able to drink whole milk. I can barely digest 2%. Cheese and yogurt don't bother be, nor ice cream, just milk. I'm headed to the store to get the soy. Thanks a bunch and I hope you feel better too Longhorn. Thanks all F

Hi ladies. How bad was the pre-op diet? I'm trying to get my self prepared for it. I also heard Dr. Morton was good. My gyn and her husband are friends with Dr. Spaw and she referred me to him. I just can't wait to loose the weight and be on my way to ONEderland!

Hi all, I am from Lynchburg, TN. (originally from Kelso, Lincoln Co) and I teach Prek in Decherd(Franklin County). I am working with Baptist and Dr. Spaw. I am almost done. I am and have been, waiting on my 6 month paperwork and dr approval to be sent to Dr. Spaw. My doc's receptionist said it should be done Monday. I have been calling everyday to make sure. I also pray that Cigna approves it. I've heard they would but I had to do more paperwork than other insurances require. That's fine with me as long as they pay for it. I can't on my salary. I would love to have this done by Thanksgiving or at least before the end of the year. It's so good to know there are others who you can turn to for support and advice. I am the only teacher at my school having this done, but several have said they want more information, and can't wait to see how I do. I am so ready for this! I am not really nervous just anxious. I went last weekend and got the gnc 100% whey protien mixed berry drink. It tasted ok, just kinda made me nausiated and now I think it has made me constipated. I thought I'd go ahead and get myself used to the drinks. Hopefully soon!

I have Cigna as well. I am going to Dr. Spaw's for my surgery. His office and staff have been very good to me. Dr. Spaw called me at home to see if I had any questions, the nutritionist called and I have already done the Psychological. I feel so comfortable going with Baptist. I pray that Cigna pays for it. I was told they would, I just had to go thru hoops of paperwork etc. to get there. I just finished the 6 month weight loss with my dr and she is to have my paperwork ready by Monday. (I HOPE SO) I'm getting tired of waiting and anxious about the surgery.

Hi I'm a newbie on here also. I am working with Dr. Spaws office for lapband. All I lack is my dr to send the 6 month information into Dr. Spaw and hopefully Cigna will approve me soon. I'm about to go nuts! I want this soooooo bad.

Hi I am from Lynchburg Tn and I am currently waiting on Cigna to approve my lapband surgery. My doctor is Dr. Spaw at Baptist Hospital. How long does it usually take Cigna insurance (I'm a teacher) to approve this? All my paperwork was sent in Oct 15 from my dr. Oh and I also have PCOS. I can't wait to get this weight off me! We too tried to have a child but dr says that the PCOS and endometriosis is so bad that it might not ever work, so we chose to get healthy and let the Lord take over. Felicia
