Revision Surgery - Band With Plication Set For My Birthday!
RayLandry replied to Mamacita14's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
No not too uncomfortable. I haven't tested my new stomach and really overeaten so it just feels full. Just like you have eaten a big meal. That's the best that I can describe it. -
Revision Surgery - Band With Plication Set For My Birthday!
RayLandry replied to Mamacita14's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Bos123, I will try and answer your question the best way that I can. Now this is MY thoughts on this. Others may feel different. I was banded 7 years ago and when the band and I were in complete harmony, it was a feeling of "putting on the brakes"! You suddenly knew and felt when to stop eating or you could get "stuck". Or I could help wash it down with liquids which totally defeats the whole idea and purpose of the band. So far, with my I-Band (band with plication), I am getting a genuine full feeling that comes about gradually. I am only 13 days out of surgery, so perhaps this may change. I hope not! I am getting full on 3/4 - 1 cup of pureeded food! My new band is empty so this is most likely all from the plication! One thing that I am seeing though is that my "fullness" only lasts for about 2-3 hours. Maybe when I start eating foods with more fiber and substance, the full feeling will last longer. I hope this helps you. -
Revision Surgery - Band With Plication Set For My Birthday!
RayLandry replied to Mamacita14's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I think about 10lbs. To tell you the truth, I am not really too concerned about weight loss untill I can eat real food and exercise like I want to. This weight loss now is not the kind of weight loss that I am looking for. I know that sounds crazy but I want to maintain muscle mass. -

Just out of curiosity, what do eggs do to you? Boiled, scrambled, fried? -
I do enjoy reading these posts! I wish that there were more but it seems that it is a rather slow forum compared to the Lapband side. I just had pliaction with band and I am loving my new felt restriction! I don't even have any fills in my new band yet and It feels like Thanksgiving stuffed with just a cup of mushies! Y'all take care and best of luck!

Anyone Had A Lab Band Slip, then Had It Surgically Fixed?
RayLandry replied to gdkeller's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had a slip and was recently rebanded. This time my doctor has plicated my stomach which is believed to help prevent another slippage. Also, my new band's port is about half the size of the old! That I really like! Good luck to you! -
Shrcumm, I couldn't have said it better! As someone who was banded in 2005 and has since been rebanded (1 week out), I can attest that the band is merely a tool. Hard work and good choices are a must to continue with successful weight control. It is so easy to trick your band and to eat past the band! If you fall off the wagon....dust yourself off and hop back on! Good luck and best wishes to all my newfound friends of the band!

I would never get full after a meal. And no matter how early or little I ate, I would always regurge at night! The reflux would get into my bronchial tubes and I would feel like I was drowning! This is even with 40mg of Prilosec! Food was staying in my pouch way too long and then when I layed down, the acid would shoot up. Sorry to gross you out! My bet is that you are just too tight. If this started after you got a fill, then it is most likely. But only listen to your doctor, you will scare yourself silly if you read all these posts and self diagnose! Best wishes.
-
I am not trying to diagnose or scare you, but I had the very same symptoms and mine was due to a slipped band. I had the saline removed and the symptoms were immediately gone. I have just been rebanded a few days ago. I would definately get this checked out. If nothing else, you are harming your esophogus every time you reflux and vomit. Perhaps you are just too tight. Good luck to you.

Should I Do Plication With My Lapband.
RayLandry replied to Mandylove's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know if this is true or not, but I have read and heard that plication with the band might become standard procedure someday. Together, the combo is also called an I-Band (imbricated band). From what I have seen and heard, the plication alone can help with serious weightloss. Then after this alone has ran it's course, that is when the band starts getting fills. Also, the plication can help prevent slippage. -
I was banded in 2005 and rebanded yesterday. I have also been on omaprezal (sp) for about 4years. Hopefully with the new band, I can get off this rxn! I had terrible reflux and GERD! Good luck!

No Weightloss @1Yr Banded
RayLandry replied to LauraTX's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is very easy to trick your band! I know that I could eat anything and everything if I washed down the food with drinks! You have to be honest with yourself and ask.......what am I doing that is not allowing the band to work at it's fullest potential? -
I Dont Need To Be Criticized
RayLandry replied to futuresize8's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey I am not sure what your surgeon would say about this, but mine is okay with ANYTHING that can be blended into a "thick paint consistency". I am sure you can get really creative and blend up the foods that you crave. You may have to add broths and other thinners to blend food this way. Don't beat yourself up. We are not perfect. Nobody would be on this forum if we were anything close to perfect! Dust yourself off and move on! -
Band Plication: Hello, I'm New And I Come With Fears
RayLandry replied to WednesdaysSun's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
I was banded back in 2005 and have since had "slippage". I am getting the band replaced along with plication next month. I told everybody about my Lap-band and I sure wish that I had a "do over" about revealing that! Everyone watches what you eat. They will constantly ask you, "are you suppose to eat that". They will question why you couldn't lose weight on your own and not have to rely on an implemented device. They will ask why you haven't lost more weight than you have (even though you have lost "tons"). My opinion......only tell the people that you absolutly trust and love the most. -
I know this sounds stupid....but I want to experience the ever so popular PB! It seems that everyone on this board has had one, but not me. Oh, I'm not in search of a major PB, the tear drenching variety and most certainly not the newly learned BLOODY PB! A mild subtle PB will suffice. Just enough to remind me that I am really banded PB. In all honesty, I am mainly curious...and just a little scared as to what a PB feels like. I've been on solids now for a week and nothing that even resembles a PB. I have my first feel on 9/14, so maybe then I'll I have my PB encounter. I have had a PBJ (minus the bread). Ray 8/9/05 280/259/180 Fort Worth, TX

Way to go! High Five! I too am a banded runner.........an addicted runner! I have been running now for about 7months and have worked up to 12-16miles/week! Since being banded, I have ran 10k's, 5k's and a 5 mile race. My longest run so far has been a 7 miler! Last weekend, I flew up to Colorado Springs for a VERY grueling 5 mile run in the Garden Of The Gods! Not being use to the high alltitude and monsterous hills, my goal was just to run the entire 5 miles non-stop and I did it! This was such a grattifying accomplishment, I can't put it into words! Before being banded, I could barely walk around the block without huffing and puffing! It is amaizing what you can do if you stay consistant! My next big goal is to run a half marathon in October. Hopefully I will be close to my 180lb goal weight! ATTENTION LAPBANDERS!!!!! Running is awesome............give it a try and you will make some major gains (losses)!
