I am vertically challenged at 5 Feet 1 inches. My highest weight ever was 279 lbs.
I had Gastric Lap-Band surgery on March 26, 2008. I was 252 lbs on day of surgery.
The lowest weight I ever got to with Lap-Band was 199 lbs.
I had my Band emptied in June 2010 had an Endoscopy and found I had an Ulcer on my Esophogus.
I already had GERD before getting my Lap-Band, so he told me to up my Nexium to 2 per day.
By October 2010, I had the Fluid put back in my Lap-Band, but my weight stayed around 210-214 lbs.
On March 26, 2013 I decided to go in for a 5 year Lap-Band anniversary check up, since I stopped losing weight and had issues waking up coughing and feeling acid in my throat feeling like I was choking on several occasions. I thought maybe I ate too late or too much food, blaming myself for not eating properly. The funny thing was this was happening 6-8 hours after I ate a meal and I slept on multiple pillows and had a Inflatable bed wedge, so I was practically sleeping sitting up most of the time.
The doctor emptied my Lap-Band again for the 2nd time and now I am going in for another Endoscopy (EGD) on April 18, 2013.
He mentioned possibly removing my Lap-Band and having a revision to Roux-en-Y Gastric ByPass or Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (VSG).
We will have to see how damaged by Esophogus is and how bad my Hiatial Hernia is on April 18, 2013.
I had my Lap-Band Removed and Hiatal Hernia repaired in November 04, 2013. Surgery took 2 hours and 40 minutes and I had to stay in the Hospital 2 nights. I took 2 weeks off of work to heal.
The Kane Center submitted my information to Blue Cross/Blue Shield (IL) for Approval for the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy.
I am Approved and having surgery on 02/27/2014 - Starting Weight 232 lbs.
