Those who had drains - how long for incision to close?
Lorraine M posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello all! I had my surgery on 9/17. I had a drain and it was removed on 9/25. Its 2 weeks later and I am still having discharge from the wound. I thought it might have closed by now but I guess it hasn't. How long did it take for your open wound from the drain to close/stop discharging? -

Thanks to you both! I hope it closes soon - the skin around it is getting raw from me having to change the dressing twice a day. -
Favorite foods during the pureed stage?

I will hopefully be entering the pureed stage today after my 1 week Dr. appointment. What were some of your favorite foods during this time? -
I had surgery on Wednesday (the 17th). I am not eating much yet. My doctor's office wants me to drink 2-4 oz per hour and to try to hit 32 oz a day right now. Today is my first full day home and I drank most of a Premier Protein shake, a popsicle, 1/4 cup cream of chicken Soup and water/crystal light.

It sucks they didn't tell you. I hope you can get it appealed. I know others in my nutrition classes were shocked with how strict Aetna was.

My Aetna policy (as explained to me by the nurse at my surgeon's office) was that if anytime I weighed in at their office I weighed even one ounce more than the previous weigh-in I would be denied surgery and have to start over. I was told they implemented this "hoop" for us to jump through back in 2013.

I have Aetna as well. During my consultation visit the nurse told me 3 times that if I gain an ounce at all during any weigh-ins at their office I would be denied by Aetna. I would do low carb, high Protein for a week or two before each weigh-in to make sure I was down. The only time I was worried is when my final nutrition class was on a Tuesday and my follow-up with the surgeon was on a Thursday. I had to maintain or be lower than the Tuesday weight for my visit on Thursday (2 days later) so I kept it light Wed and didn't eat or drink before the Thurs appt to be safe.
