Day 6 PO surgery. I have had a dry throat tickle all this week which makes me have a uncontrolled cough especially during sleep hours. I asked my Dr., about coughing he said "don't " as it could cause leakage . How do you not cough? I'm trying to suppress it but it's very hard. It's not a heavy cough but I'm still afraid I'm causing damage. Does anyone have any ideas or experienced this? Also I found a spot of blood on my bed sheets and one on my tee shirt. I think it's from one of my incisions. Should I be concerned. It's Saturday and we are driving back home today. 2 1/2 hour drive. We live in the mountains so things are a little far way. I'm starting to spin my self out of control! Help! Thank God for this site as I don't think others understand.

I also have constipation . My DR. , said it was ok to use a stool softener. It took about 12 hours but was very gentle to my body. Also there should be some solid foods you can eat. I've had the VSG and I can have low-fat or nonfat cottage cheese, low-fat cheese, plain or light yogurt, eggs scrambled puréed boil, ground chicken or ground turkey no skin moist chew to puréed consistency, fish no shellfish fruit without the skin, soft, mashed with a fork, chew to pureed consistency. Vegetables no raw, steam well, mashed with fork, chewed puréed consistency. These foods are considered my three main meals of the day. I still have to squeeze in 2 protein shakes. And drink 64 ounces of water Consult with your doctor or your doctors nutritionist I think that would be the best course of action. Good luck to you.

Low BMI and still having VSG
Munro replied to christina420's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
BMI is not the only factor for surgery. High blood pressure, sleep apnea , diabetes , all are issues that will qualify you a long with your BMI.. My BMI wasn't that high when my paperwork was sent to my insurance company but I had 2 other issues sleep apnea and high blood pressure. In fact my BMI dropped to 28 just before surgery, but that's because I went to a weight loss program and did the pre-op diet. Which my Dr was happy with as it prepared me for surgery and my new life. Please don't try to put on weight to get your BMI up. Go back and consult with your doctor. This is still surgery and a life long commitment. Your Dr has a lot of influence with the ins., co. Good Luck! -
Sleevers 15th September to 21st September Check in
Munro replied to knzt's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Just had my Surgery 3 days ago. I first day I said to myself "why the bleep did I do this to my self". The second day I didn't feel as anxious. Today the 3 day I feel really good except my tummy is a little sore when I sit or lay down. But what is amazing is that I'm starting to think about all the wonderful things that will take place in my life and that gets me very excited. So far as of today I have no regrets. -
The Last Person I Will Tell...
Munro replied to amiclvrt's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't let anyone change your mind. They don't understand the dynamics of our eating habits. I'm 59 years old and I have been on every diet there is since the age of 18. Fen-Fen, weight watcher, nutra system, Jenny Craig , low fat low carb, just to name a few. I lost weight on all of them but when I finished the program I would gain all the weight back and then some. What I have learned through all my research and consulting all of my many doctor ( due to weight related health issues) is I will probably have a shortened life if I don't due something about it now. The sleeve surgery removes the part of the stomach which houses the hunger hormone. Without this hormone our drive to eat will greatly decrease. This hormone tell the brain that you are hunger. You will be able to eat again, you will just eat much less and be satisfied. Listen to your doctors, and nutritionist not your friends or Family who wish to sabotage your decision. My new motto is " I eat to live not live to eat" Good Luck, -
Good Luck to all Septembers. FYI, if you are using Bariatric Advantage meal replacements know that the nectors are not considered a meal replacement but more like a drink similar to Crystal light but with fruit flavors. Although they do have protein content. What they are good for is post surgery for the week that you have to do a clear liquid diet . I just called Bariatric Advantage to confirm this information. I'm going to order them for that week. Might be a nice refreshing taste to the other liquids. I'm scheduled for the 8th. The nerves are subsiding, and the excitement is setting in.

First day of pre-op diet. I'm so hungry! Having trouble getting in 64 oz of water just by sipping . And my jaw is killing me from chewing 30 to 40 times per bite. Will this get easier?
