dr kuri - planet hosipital?
ChubbyChic replied to donnabarney's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The reason I state you might want to go to a U.S. Surgeon is I found out I had a hiatal hernia AFTER my lap band. I was fortunate enough that my surgeon repaired the hernia. It is my understanding some surgeons will not repair the hernia while placing the band and this can cause slippage and erosion. Something to seriously consider. -
dr kuri - planet hosipital?
ChubbyChic replied to donnabarney's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello! Here's Dr. Pedo Kuri's new website: Lap Band Surgery - Dr. Kuri & Associates I've heard a lot of great things about him. However, you might want to seriously consider using a surgeon within the United States. The surgeon I used was Trace Curry from Cincinnati, Ohio and he is outstanding. If you are a self-pay, he only charges $14,900. He has an excellent staff! His website is lapbanddoctor.com Good Luck with your surgery! =-) -
What is the Day of Surgery and the nexy day like?
ChubbyChic replied to happysilly307's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Snappy3K! I had my surgery on 10/16/07 and it's still very fresh in my mind. I see we have two things in common -- we are close in age and BMIs. I am 42 years old and my BMI was 33 or 34 before surgery. What to expect the day of surgery? I was restless and fidgety...but tired...no pain...but in just general discomfort. I went ahead and took the pain medication every 4 hours. I figured better to be ahead of the pain rather than experience the pain. I did have some nausea but I suspect that was more from the anesthesia. That evening I hardly slept because of just being tired of lying on my back. The day after surgery, I was still not in pain nor did I experience gas pain. I just had a overall uncomfortable, restless and nauseaus feeling. I had a two hour drive home and because of the nausea there is no way I could have driven home. Plus, the medication they provide for the nausea also made me drowsy. Originally, I was going to go have the surgery alone and drive myself home the next day. I am so thankful I had someone go with me and drive me home. Good luck! -
help hiatal hernia
ChubbyChic replied to Newbeginnings's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi New Beginnings! I, too, had a hiatal hernia and did not know it until the day of my lap band surgery. My surgeon repaired the hernia and was able to place the band. My surgery was on 10/16/07. I have no idea what size the hernia was or how involved. What I do know is, I have had very little pain and discomfort. Good luck! =-)
