I've been trying to get out of those bloody orange pants on my ticker app for 6 months - I've finally made it. Now for that pesky purple tank top!!!!

It's been a while since I've contributed anything to this site. Mainly because I've been on a bit of a slump the past few months and haven't really lost any weight at all. I feel like I have turned a corner and am confident that I am well and truly getting back on track. To help with my confidence, I'm doing a little 'Throwback Thursday' and showing you a pic comparison. The pic on the left was taken at a corporate photo shoot not long before my surgery in 2014 and the pic on the right was taken this morning... Even though I haven't lost so much weight in the last few months, the evidence of what I have lost is clear - need to remind myself of that every so often. Have a wonderful week everybody xx

That could definitely be the case. Although having said that, I recently went through a period of about a week where every second meal I ate did not go through my band. I stuck to liquids strictly for about 3 days and then slowly re-taught myself to take smaller mouthfuls and chew for longer periods and this has helped dramatically. If this isn't helping though, you should definitely find your new Dr and get an adjustment. If the new country you have moved to happens to be in Melbourne Australia, I am more than happy to give you the details of where I visit.

Does anybody find that being stressed can make their band feel a little tighter, and therefore interfere with what you can eat?? I have had a particularly stressful morning at work and having just tried to eat my lunch, I am struggling... Would this be a contributing factor to what I can or can't eat???

Thanks @@Dolores33778, was beginning to bother me because I haven't felt that kind of thing before. As long as there is a fairly simple reason for it, I know I will get past it. xx

Weird s**t your body does (or "I know I ate too much, I need to sneeze.."
Miss Meg replied to KindaFamiliar's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
It's kind of good that we can recognise a physical indicator to help us stop eating. Especially when something tastes so good, and our old habits would have us continue to eat... -

For me it's definitely the runny nose that is a sign to stop. It's quite funny that it tends to be 3 or 4 triggers for everyone, yet we are all slightly different... The human body is an amazing thing. -
Thanks for your kind words everyone xx

I'm finding myself snacking during the work day.. What do you do to stop this??? I need some advice asap...

Thanks everyone for your feed back. It is definitely head hunger. I just need to remind myself every now and again why I have done this and why it has worked to this point.

We are always told that the scale isn't our only guide to measure our progress, and I've just had a big realisation of this. My scale hasn't moved much at all in the last couple of months - I've enjoyed a little too much festive and summer cheer!!!! However, I re-did my measurements this morning (last time was late November) and have had a very pleasant surprise... Bust - 105cm (a further 2cm gone) Waist - 98cm (a further 4cm gone) Hips - 121cm (exactly the same) So if you are feeling dejected by an unfriendly scale, then whip out the friendly tape measure!!!!

Today marks 1 year since my surgery date and I haven't look back for one second. It hasn't been easy, but it's the best decision I have ever made for myself. I have lost a little over 33kg (around 72lb) which makes me just over half way there If anyone is undecided - please take the plunge, it is so so so worth it. I'm attaching a couple of photos so you can see the difference and how amazing I feel - The collage is a comparison shot taken exactly 12 months apart, and the second is a picture taken of me a friends wedding a couple of weeks ago... Have an awesome weekend everyone.

Hi Shar362. I said a lot during the first 6-12 months after surgery that it was more the choices of food I made and not necessarily the band as to why I was losing weight as I wasn't feeling a whole lot of restriction until I got my fluid levels right. Now they are at the right level and over the Christmas period I haven't made the wisest food choices and haven't shifted any weight in a few weeks. Maybe have a look at what you are consuming and if can be tweaked a little. Good luck..

"Carelessness, pain, and hindsight", a cautionary tale for those with the gastric band
Miss Meg replied to Paige Dukes's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You poor thing, what a horrible horrible experience. I am very glad that I haven't had an episode as bad as that and hopefully I never will. I often wonder how the vomiting thing works when it isn't just regurgitation, like if I were to get a tummy bug and the only option is out?? Glad you have learned from it and are feeling better about it now. Take care and best wishes to you for Christmas. -

I am 12 months post-op and go along pretty well with the amount of food I can consume. I've recently worked out that that if I leave it too long between meals (longer than 4-5 hours) my band feels a little tighter than normal and I sometimes get things stuck. I do try to avoid leaving it so long, but on busy days when I don't get around to eating, I've noticed this. Does anyone else have the same issues?

hair falling out.....HELP!
Miss Meg replied to pattij106's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
pattij106 this has been happening to me. I've now added silicea to my supplements list which helps generate growth and my hair dresser has advised me to use sulphate free shampoo. I've found the shampoo to dry my hair out a bit but the silicea has definitely helped. Good luck... -
