I think I am finally feeling it...

I haven't found anything to be off limits yet, just that I have to take it slower. Loving it..

I think I am finally feeling it...

Yep, definitely there... Eating a sushi roll for lunch and have discovered that I can not eat them without a knife and fork!!!!
  3. I haven't hidden my surgery from anyone. My whole office knows and they are all fantastically supportive. All of my family and all of my friends are the very same. I haven't divulged to my online social network (facebook) because a lot of those people are acquaintances and to be honest I'm not ready for all of their opinions - although I am sure it would be mostly positive. I have a blog livelovelapband.blogspot.com.au and that also has a twitter page. I will at some point post those details to facebook so the rest of my world knows too. If I happen to see any of them out and about and they ask how I've been losing weight then I will absolutely tell them. As others have said, there is absolutely no shame in wls - it's life saving and if their opinions about it are negative then just brush it off because it shouldn't mean anything to you. Good luck...

    Banded 2/27/2015

Good for you - well done. Hang in there, it will start to come off pretty soon don't worry about that...
  5. @@AvaFern you actually helped me there.. I went into the myfitnesspal app (which I had only ever used for diary keeping) and there it all is there. Thanks for the info.
  6. Well done AvaFern, and well done for reaching your goal. I am really interested in how many grams of Protein should be taken in on a daily basis. I'm in Australia and can't find much on how much protein you should consume on a daily basis and how you calculate it??

    Band too tight?

It is possible. I had a fill a week ago and feel a lot more restriction but I can definitely get food and liquid through it. I usually have to have liquid for 24 hours and soft food for a couple of days after a fill - could that be the issue?? Either way, you should definitely make contact with your clinic and perhaps go back and see them - if you don't think it's right, do the right thing by you. Good luck.

    Bloated

You would still have swelling. I felt that way for a good week after my surgery. Once the swelling starts to go down you will feel a whole lot better and will consume more. I also found that it took a fair while for a bowel movement after surgery and that will certainly add to bloating. Good luck and keep us posted.

Good news, I finished my lunch about 4.5 hours ago and am just getting hungry now... I like this feeling...

I think I am finally feeling it...

Thank you JustWatchMe. I've got butterflies at the thought that I might be there...
  11. Definitely go back on Fluid and please make sure you make that appointment with your surgeon. I am sure there has been no damage done, the main reason we are on fluids post op is for the swelling to settle. Good luck and keep positive..

    A bit peckish..

For a girl that had a Fluid fill yesterday, I am quite a bit peckish today... In fact I usually find it can take up to a week to notice the difference. What's with that???
  13. So you take the time penalty... easy...

    Need to vent

I am so sorry for your loss, and absolutely grief can play a huge role in how we manage things - 40lbs is still a great amount of weight that you are no longer carrying with you - congratulations with your achievement so far. It does sound to me though that your band may be a little too tight?? You shouldn't have difficulty keeping food down. Have you been back to see your Dr?? Good luck with everything and I'm sure your Dad will be so proud of how far you've come.

    Tuesday's the day!

Good luck for Tuesday. I was banded 17 1/2 weeks ago and have not regretted it for a moment. I'm sure you will feel the same..

    Feeling Great!

Well hello there everyone - long time no see!!! It has been 3 weeks since my last post (that sounds like I'm in confession!!) I've been on a wonderful holiday in Khao Lak and Phuket Thailand. The weather was great, the resorts were amazing and I've come home feeling fully re-charged. On my holiday, although I didn't over-eat, I definitely ate whatever I wanted and didn't think too much at all about the calories - except when it came to cocktails, I couldn't get it out of my head that I was consuming empty calories with no nutritional value. I am so happy to report that I've returned home weighing exactly the same as when I left. I know the goal of this thing is to actually lose weight, but I have never ever in my life come home from a holiday without gaining weight. I really am so thrilled that I've managed to maintain it this time. I even managed a few NSV's on my time away - particularly shopping in stores that I have never found anything in before that would fit my size - yipppeee!!! My band definitely helped in this regard, it let me know whenever enough was enough, so I didn't try to put more food in than I could. I'm now back on my usual eating plan and and feel so much happier and healthier for my time away. I've attached some pictures for your viewing pleasure - I think the smile on my face says it all!!!

    Lapband and alcohol

Hi all, I have a question about lapband and alcohol. I had a few too many drinks on Saturday night with some girlfriends. Since then I've had some stuck issues and vomited a bit. I am hoping this is all part of my learning curve and learning my new limits. Maybe big nights need to be a thing of the past? Has anyone else experienced this??

    Lapband and alcohol

Thanks for the advice. I've realised that everything is fine in moderation and I'm pretty sure that what I went through was a result of a big night and believe me those are very few and far between these days. I've been fine ever since and am back to my normal self - although I am on holidays in Thailand at the moment and don't have 100% control over my food, but I am chewing slowly and nit finishing entire meals. I do think I am making the best choices possible...

    Lapband and alcohol

Thanks for that. I will definitely be a lot more careful from now on. What happened to me this morning really isn't worth it. I've come too far to stuff it up.. Was a really horrible feeling.

    Week 14 Post-Op

Well hi everyone... I have had a fabulous week. I spent a wonderful 4 days away with 5 of my best friends, heading up to Nelson Bay in NSW and heading to an outdoor concert to see Roxette. I definitely did not hold back this week and still managed to lose .5kg bringing my total to 17.6kg lost. As I said, I did not hold back one bit and enjoyed all kinds of food and wine - just a lot less volume than I would've consumed 6 months ago. I think this may be what I love most about the lap-band. There really is no restriction to what you eat just the amount of it. I still need to enjoy life and the band allows me to do this. I had so much energy for the concert and the whole weekend that I had lost, and thought would never get it back again - but I've found it and I am so happy. I am also heading for a little holiday to Thailand on Tuesday of next week so will have an early weigh in and won't have another for 2 weeks - so stay tuned for my next post...

I think I just might be at green!

Congratulations!!! I know I am almost there. I have 4ml in 10ml band (I've found out that ml's and cc's are the same). I had my 3rd fill a week and a half ago and there has been a definite shift, but it could be a little better - I'm thinking another .5ml might even get me there. So happy for you that you've made it...

    My first real NSV

So today marks 9 weeks since my surgery and I've lost a total of 14kg (30lbs for those that don't use metric). This week also marked my first real NSV (Non scale Victory). I made a visit to my hairdresser (who also happens to be one of my besties) and she made the comment to me that when she grabbed at my hair it felt like the back of someone else's head. That might sound weird but she was referring to the fact that the nape of my neck has changed and the 'hump' at the back of my neck has gone!!! great feeling...

    Week 12 Post-Op

Can I just just start by saying that I've worked out that I'll never work out how the human body works. Somehow this week, I've managed to lose 1.9kg bringing my total to 16.4kg lost. How this has happened I'm not quite sure, I haven't really done anything different and I haven't exercised at all this week. Maybe it's .5ml fill I had in my last week coming in to play? Maybe it's my body catching up with the slow couple of weeks previous? Maybe it's a multitude of things? Who knows????? One thing I do know for sure though is that I am beyond thrilled with it. It's just the encouragement I need to continue pushing forward... I hope everyone else is having a great week too... livelovelapband.blogspot.com
  25. What a great question... Like a lot of others, I clearly was not ready mentally and emotionally for it until recently (I was 41 when I had the surgery in November). I do find myself wishing I had taken the step at around the age of 33-35, and the reason I say that is because I am still single with no children. Being severely overweight really affected my confidence when it came to meeting Men and I really believed that I wasn't worthy of meeting someone. It has taken a bit of maturity for me to realise that isn't the case and there should be no reason for me to meet a partner. I'm now in the position of being 42 and the clock is seriously ticking, and I may not have the time to meet a partner and create a family. So I'm considering options of doing it alone - I'm okay with that because I have an amazing support network and I know it would be okay - but I realise that time may not be on my side. That is really the only reason that I wish I had have made the decision earlier...
