Geez !! Can't we just put this thread to rest? It is giving me a headache! Dr. Joya is my Doctor and I think he is great, so there. Who cares about all the trivial "he said she saids"? Get over it!

Happy Birthday!!! Eat cake! -
Well, I have officially survived my initiation into Bandland! We got home yesterday. I wanted to leave a post to say thanks to everyone who wished me well! I am 3 days out and I am getting around pretty good. Still a little tricky sleeping though, since I am a belly sleeper. My start weight was 261lbs, by their scale. I guess I put on some weight with that all inclusive thing. I haven't weighed in yet. I am going to try to only weigh in once a week. Which reminds me, I need a new ticker. I guess it all went well. But the worst part for me was waking up from anesthesia. I woke up feeling like I couldn't breathe and with a raw pain in my chest. The first thing I said when I woke up was " Yo voy a vomitar!" (translation: I am going to throw up!) When I woke up again after a double dose of " knock her out quick" I was in my room with my partner by my side. Later that night i had an episode of dry heaving that hurt like you know what, luckily there was a shot for that too! I have never been happier to be home. I feel like I have a secret weapon now, since I haven't told anyone yet. I can't wait to heal a little better so that I can start putting my band to use. I am not going to lie, that first night after surgery I couldn't believe I had chosen to do this to myself and I regretted it with everything in me. I mean I was cussing myself. But now, only 3 days out, I have a whole new outlook on my life and what lies ahead. And a brand new excitement for my new band. Well, I will post some pictures soon ( you gotta see the 8'5 foot sailfish we caught!). My broth is boiling over!!

Well I have done the dirty deed!! The scale tells me I am 11lbs down one week out. More than I thought. Kinda makes the liquid diet not seem so bad.. maybe I will stay on it forever! I get to start full liquids today... yay! Hope everyone is doing well.
-
Okay.. I wanna be in on this! Does day 6 liquids in Liquids out count?? lol Okay I will say Ice cream, it has always been my biggest downfall! I will start today (although it has been at least a week already) DAY 1: No Ice Cream

Aww.. you guys are so sweet.. thank you! I am healing well and feeling better everyday. I can't wait til I can start working out. What do they say 6 weeks? I have been trying to stay busy but I have to be careful, still a little sore sometimes. Still no scale... gulp!

Thank you all so much for the warm welcome! I am finally part of the crew! I really do feel so much better and I would do it all over again, though you would've never heard those words the first day! Now I have to go shuffling through the LBT archives looking for the Newbie Stuff! I already miss the good old fashioned burp I once knew. Now I have this hiccup thing. Weird. Is that permanent?

I know you all have been through this.. but I am a 11 days pre-op and getting very nervous. I was hoping that because we are doing the vacation thing before hand, that the time would drag. ( you know how when you are looking foward to something the time seems to go slower?) But quite the contrary.. I think my fears of the plane and the surgery are making it approach faster! I know I am still over a week from surgery, but we leave for PV early Sat. morning. Only like 4 days from now. My problem is I am starting to have negative thoughts about the band not working for me and how much it costs and what we could buy instead.. and the whole surgery thing and the pain thing and the airplane thing... My brain is trying to talk me out of this, maybe trying to make excuses.. i don't know. Please tell me this is normal... What were your fears as surgery approached? When does the anxiety take a back seat to the excitement again? I know this is what I want to do.. 200% sure... why am I trying to talk myself out of it?

Oh 2 Be Free replied to Oh 2 Be Free's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I do have so many reasons for wanting this surgery. I have to do this for me and my family. I can do this... I think I am just afraid of the unknown... or maybe of failing again. The support you all have given me reminds me that I am not alone on this journey. Thanks for the advice, it truly helps. -

I think my first NSV will be getting my scaredy cat butt onto the airplane! Does that count?
