Yeah, so it's Thanksgiving and I am stuffed like a turkey. I feel so guilty for eating so much. I could not help it. I am so close to having my final consultation. I have 2 weeks left on my 6 month diet. I have one visit left to see the nutritionist and then approval I hope. There should be nothing holding me back at this time.......:cursing:

Thanks to everyone. I have received some great pointers and advice. I called the surgeon today and they did say they would accept a second opinion. I have not decided what to do. I will have to self pay for the 2nd psych. Not a big deal. I will take this one day at a time. Thanks again for ALL the info you give me everyday!

He was very aware that these were things of my past. I also told him I was not a fan of taking meds for anxiety, depression, stress ets due to my past. Do you think I should ask him for a "recap" appointment? I did not get the chance to explain any of my answers.

I am still in shock right now. I will look at my other options tomorrow. If the surgeon will accept another evaluation....I will go that route otherwise I will have to wait it out. I appreciate your concerns.

I just wanted to vent. I read posts almost daily. I have been researching the band for about 2 years. I decided to do it! So, I begin my journey. I have done several tests and my psych evaluation. I get a call today from the psychologist today. He is very sorry but at this time he can NOT give me a referral. When I asked him why? Because I am depressed. NO kidding? I am 100 #'s + overweight... blah blah blah.... So, he said I have to go to a therapist 1 x a week for 6 months and then go see him again. I spoke with the lady at the surgery center, she said this was very rare that someone gets denied for depression. She said the evaluation also showed a history of drug and alcohol use. That was over 10 years ago. Are you kidding me??? I was told to be honest for the evaluation. This is where that got me.....back at start. I will study for my next big test thats for sure. I have BCBS of Minnesota. They cover 90% if I use a Blue care facility. St Francis is considered Blue Care

I live in Desoto County. My insurance prefers St. Francis, covers more if I use them. I just switched PCP a few weeks ago. She is willing to refer me to a bariatric surgeon. I asked her to help me with the 6 month documentation....she told me to go see a dietician to do that. I will be her 1st ever WLS patient. What do you think? Should I be more agressive with her or go see a dietician? Thanks

I spoke with Dr Weavers staff this morning. I was kind of surprised they do not offer a seminar for the realize band. I may still go to Dr Woodman's Lap Band seminar on Monday. I will not be able to have surgery until after the first of the year due to the 6 month supervised diet. I guess that will give me plenty of time to do more homework etc. I appreciate the info. Good luck with your approvals.....

I am new here and decided to quit lurking and say hello. I am hoping to have surgery. I have done lots of research. I am doing my psych evaluation on Monday. If there is anyone in the Memphis area that may be able to help me with support etc. that would be great. I have had a hard time finding seminars in the area. I contacted a surgeon who sent me an info packet.....yeah. So now what? It just seemed so impersonal to me. I have learned so much already from the forum. Thanks for all the info!
