****Beauty comes in all sizes, I'd have to disagree with you that health comes in all sizes. To claim one can be obese and healthy is simply not true.**** Just to throw the cat in the pigeons so to speak - Define obese, which santitized chart are we all using here? Which drummed up generality is it that we are all straining to achieve? And just to ruffle feathers even further, there are actually PLENTY of healthy issues that you can have if you are a 'normal' - dont you just hate that word - weight range, that you may not have if you had a different lifestyle and were obese. And just for a final one what utter twonk to say that you cant be healthy with a BMI ( which is what I assume you are alll going off) of 35. I am staggered at the level of ignorance that is being shown. Please define healthy for me??? Healthy using what yard stick ? Blood pressure, cholesterol??? Just what paramters are defining these statements? Nina PS sorry to use your words again jachut nothing personal.

Define abuse....... knowing that you werent wanted wont get you on the register, but it will sure screw you up. End result bitter anger on both sides. I can honestly say that I have had friends who if they had continued with their pregnancies would be living miserable lives now, so I am glad that they had that choice. What about the contraception issue, what are your thoughts on that? -

I'm sure there are those out there that would argue that a child isn't a "life" until they have a means to support themselves without their parents' intervention Sue - I hope they dont my teenagers would be in biiiiiigggg trouble!!! -

Thanks gadget I would agree with you, it is for sure a mental survival mechanism, but that doesnt mean that it is a bad thing. When my mum died my sister and I talked about her going on holiday rather than saying the words - I never claimed to be sane! Unfortuantly a lot of the women who would change their minds when shown a scan would later go on to resent the child and inflict those feelings on it. I know that you will argue better that they are alive and onloved than aborted, but I have seen too many of my friends make that choice and it be the right choice for them for me to deny them that right. Having a child is a HUGE responsibility and should never ne entered into lightly, every child deserves a home full of laughter. I dont understand why abortion clinics dont fit an IUD after the procedure though, that way it shouldnt have to happen again? One of my more radical thoughts was to offer Norplan all 16 year olds and then they have to make a choice to have it removed, thus hopefully avoiding the whole issue. My daughter asked for an IUD to be fitted when she got into her first sexual relationship so that she would never have to worry about missing pills etc. Nina x -
My daughter is a huge HP fan, and she advised me that someone asked JK why dumbledore never married and why he didnt know that the wizard who used the deathly hallows symbol ( cant remember his name) was bad, and her answer was that he was in love with him. My sis is in a same sex relationship and so is my BIL, so it wasnt anything that shocked my kids as it is part of normal life to them. Nina

Oh lord I swear I have an obssessive type personality, never for housework though eeewww!! I was obssessed with being pregnant I was my absolute happiest when waddling....look where that got me! When I started my company I lived, ate and slept it,and hell yes I am proud of my achievement. I do hear what you are saying and didnt mean to say that just that type of thing is obsessive , hey look at how quickly I have got addicted to LBT!! Nina x

I have 6 kids and run a successful business, most days when I finally get all of the kids and dogs sorted out , the washing done and the housework finished I want to curl up in a ball and sleep, I actually get to watch TV about twice a month.....and no I am not going to give that up to go running!!! I do some resistance training for about 30 mins a day but thats it for me! What I am saying is that different things have different priorities in peoples lives, I love walking on the beach with the kids and dogs, I want to be healthy but not to fixate on it. The band for me was about breaking my obssessions with food,I have been very thin before through diet and huge amounts of exercise, and to be honest when I look back I was just as obssessed, only then it was with what I wouldnt eat!! Neither for me represented a balanced and mentally healthy lifestyle. Each to their own Nina x

Sorry gadget I was trying to quote part of someone elses post on the last few things you raised with me they werent my veiws! I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do a quote. I do see what you are saying about how do I reconcile my pro-choice stance with my veiws on late terminations, but I have had IVF ( yes I am mad, my last 2 miscarriages were ectopic and I was desperate for a 7th) and those embryos were in essence 'life' but I knew that most of them would perish in the lab and they werent babies to me , I couldnt afford to let them be, as it was of 3 lots of 2 that were put back only 1 took and we last it a 10 weeks. I guess what I am trying to say is that once that baby is capable of sustaining life outside of its host, then noone has the right to insist that it is killed first. I understand the cost implications green, but none the less I would rather that the cost be borne than the alternative. If doctors didnt piss around as much as they do doing a referal for patients, more and more women could be treated with mifepristone at 5/6 weeks. Why does noone who is considering a late termination look at the adoption route? Or even leave the baby on the steps of a hospital for gds sake if they dont want to be traced? I dont know what the solution is, but I do know that despite my reservations I still would defend the woman right to chose. Nina x -
Hi Chelle, I am with you on this have similar situations myself, I have kind of come to a place where I know who my friends are - and they are never the ones that ASK,and always the ones who want to pay it back when it is offered. As for family well that is harder for me cos I dont have much family, but if I were you I would start talking about the fact that you have tied your money up elsewhere just as cindy advised. Co-workers???? WTF???? I would just laugh and tell them that they can have my mortgage if they want it!!!! For now I would say to him, if he ever brings it up again, that he must be joking you are trying to sort out a pension fund, and no you dont feel like starting a high risk business! Dont get down about it hon, the people who are worth maintaining a friendship with arent there cos you lend them money, and the people that would be pissed with you if you didnt arent worth having as friends. **** I really cannot believe that at 225 a 5ft 10 woman would have sunken cheeks and jutting bones - its still a BMI of 32, heck, its still obese**** I think that is the comment that upset Kathy. I must admit if I was her it would have got my goat too. Just my opinion folks Kathy dont be put off the rest of the site, this is 'rants and raves' you should see the sh1t slinging that was going on in the abortion debate!!!! It is never a personal attack in the truest sense honest! Nina x

I have been missing it that much that I have posted all over to make up for it!! At least its keeping me away from the chocolate though!! NIna xx

Tempers seem to run high on this thread......! Whatever anyone says in response to a post is going to be seen as an insult. I mean come on ladies using the word obese is just the medical way of saying you are FAT!!! Like it or not skinny is often seen as a compliment whether you see it that way or not.Cant for the life of me think when calling someone fat was...... There is such a thing as too thin , and I am not refering to ANYONE here, but you only have to look at anorexia to know that. Chickie you are gorgeous and I would sooooo stick the finger at anyone who says otherwise! For myself I can honestly say that when I weighed 105lb after the birth of my second child you could see my spine, my hips, ribs, hollow cheeks ,collarbones etc etc, you get the picture. Even though that was within my healthy weight range, for myself it wasnt that healthy, and it sure as eggs are eggs didnt look good! I was a uk 6/8 at the time. My sisters girlfriend is a UK 6/8 and look DDG, everyone is different! I set my target based on past experience of what size I am at certain weights, who knows how it will go, I am lucky I can carry my weight well (is that lucky?? maybe that how I got so fat!! That and the cake.....)I have very strong bone structure wide ribcage etc and will tailor may weight loss accordingly, shallow though it may be , I want to LOOK GOOD too. NIna xx

How Much Is Too Much
nina874 replied to renewedhope's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No liquids just slide straight through, that is why as you heal you will start to get hungry....very very hungry....LOL The stuff you eat has to have density to 'sit' in the pouch, so dont worry about stretching and just keep an eye on the calories. Good luck Nina xx -
That is a bugger of a situation ( scuse the language!!) Is there definately noone else that you would want to do the PS? I have similar issues with ass type people - changed my ob/gyn for that very reason!! Couldn't live with the thought of a prat staring at my bits... My goal is my 40th next year....sigh.... I have the holiday of a lifetime booked ( 3 weeks in the maldives!!) and I want to be able to look at the pictures without crying... I have set myself a very tight timescale - I work best under pressure - and I have the PS booked for a FTT, BL/BA and Lipo for the 11th of FEb next year so that the scars have time to fade before September ( when my 40th is) The PS has said that if I am within a stone or so of goal he is happy to do it, but I want to be AT goal!!LOL Nina x

Oh Ingy, Dont get me going on the MRSA, surgary holidays...(fly into the UK and 'collapse' then have a quad bypass on the NHS fly home again) Asylum status being abused, a country not even 1/4 the size of Texas trying to squeeze in 76 million people and counting.....

LMAO My maiden name gave me .... sated sadism My married name gave me......evil labia Might ask DHs veiw on that.... NIna x

Guilty as charged.....LOL I do it a lot, especially if someone is upset, I will type ' oh no dont do that hon, it will only make you feel worse' for example. I think without it sometimes a post can come over too strong/dictatorial ...maybe its just me? I have to say that my sister and I always call each other 'babes' cos using each others full names just seems too formal. Woman to woman I like it, from man to woman it has to be used carefully. Nina x

Hi WASA Totally get you hon, these goals are the things that keep us going, I have a similar one myself and will be GUTTED if I dont make it. Can you not schedule the TT earlier? How flexible is the PS? Is it this guys skill level or aftercare that is bothering you or is it just the fact that he is an ass? Is there anyone else that you could use instead? I only ask cos if there is something that you arent happy with afterwards and you dont have a good relationship with him, will the two of you be able to sort it out? Nina x
-
Awwww that is a bummer hon (((hug))) I hope that they get the records and it is the same thing as last time, let us know how you get on with it. I dont know about the pre-op diet cos I didnt have to do it, but I know how stressed I am on the post op one so I hope you dont have to be on it for too long! Nina x
