Weight Loss Totals

You lost 61 pounds in 2 months? How much did you lose pre-surgery?
  4. midwife72

    my first fill- 6.5 CC'S

I had my first fill today. My surgeon put .8cc in a 4cc band. Sounds too conservative to me. I'm on clears now and can eat tomorrow...I guess I'll see then! I'm ready to get this show on the road!

    Weight Loss Totals

I've only lost 12 pounds since my surgery on October 22nd. I had my first fill today!!!! I am so excited to get this going. He filled .8cc in a 4 cc band. I hope I have some restriction. I've had none yet. Wish me luck!!! I've been pretty down about how little I've lost. Bandster Hell is aptly named.
  6. I hope I didn't screw things up.

    Banded, now what?

Thank you for this thread! I was banded on the 22nd and I don't feel like I have any restriction at all. I did at first with the post op swelling, but now...nothin'. I am keeping myself from eating more than one serving and really trying to stick to the mushies, but I have to admit I have had some solids that have gone down easily. My goal at this point is to not gain any weight back by my fill on 12/6 and to start excercising. I BEGGED my doc to fill me before Thanksgiving but, no go! Thank you for being here, Tenacious Tens...I don't know what I'd do without you!

    TENaciousTENS "roll call" as promised!

Add me please! My name is Denise and I was banded on the 22nd!
  9. I was banded 10/22 and feel like I did 10/21. I have no restriction. I am not getting a fill until 12/6. On another post, someone mentioned if the quantity of food is too much, you could mess up the band. Is this true?
  10. midwife72

I guess this is Bandster @*&%

Can you really do damage from eating too much? I feel like I have no restriction at all. I know I've been eating too much, I hope I didn't screw things up!

    Banded, now what?

:faint:I am so glad that you started this thread. I am having a hard time resisting my cravings. I was banded 10/22 and I feel like I did on 10/21! Halloween was horrible. I never used to crave sweets before, but now... It's all I think about. I have lost 10 pounds, but I think that I could have done so much better during this post op period. I'm not going to filled until 12/6! I BEGGED him to fill me before Thanksgiving, but he wouldn't do it. It's going to be carb hell!!!!!!!!:cry

    help, feelin blue

I had been doing really well until today. I was on clears with protein shakes and started purees today. Well, I was out running errands and was STARVING so, I stopped to get a side of mashed potatos and I got some chicken for my daughter...well, I was only going to have the 3 oz of potatoes that my doc said....I ended up eating the whole 16 oz serving!!! THEN I had 2 bites of chicken. I didn't really feel any restriction, I just burped a lot after. I need to not eat potatoes. They really are a trigger food for me. I am so dissapointed in myself, and even thought I know that I haven't had a fill yet, I am bummed to know that I can get that much food in. I wish I hadn't found out at all.:angry

    Getting banded Monday the 22nd

crikkit... Do you want to hear something funny? We have the same birthday, too! I'm one year older than you. Isn't that weird? Here's my story: I got to the hospital at 8am for preop and I went in t the OR at 11am. I have to say that Lenox Hill knows how to treat a patient. They have greeters to make sure that you know where you are going and the nurses were great. I was annoyed too find out that my weight had actually gone up to 258...I guess all of those "last meals" caught up to me! It's so weird to be on the OR table looking up when you are so used to being the person in the other position. They started my IV in the OR and within a matter of minutes I was asleep. I woke up in the recovery room about 1 pm feeling like crap. ANESTHESIA SUCKS! The pain wasn't even too bad...it was the nausea that was a killer. They did load me up with meds for it so, the sensation didn't last too long. My mom, husband and best friend came in to visit me, but everything was really just a blur. I ended up sleeping on and off the rest of the afternoon on pain meds. I finally really woke up around 6 and was a little freaked out to see how connected to machinery I was. I had cardiac monitoring, a pulsoximeter, sequential compression boots, nasal cannula and (blech) a foley catheter. Even though my doc had told me that this would be the case, I kept thinking that something had gone wrong in the OR and that's why I had to be monitored so closely. The nurse reassured me that it was standard procedure to monitor output and to watch for blood clots. The night wasn't bad...I took a couple of doses of Morphine which I'm sure helped a lot! I went to radiology in the morning where they did an upper GI series, not nearly as bad as the preop one that I had done. They saw that the band was in place and all was well. Dr. Shah came to see me and told me that the surgery was "textbook" and that I could start to eat. It was the best goddamned Jello I have ever eaten! The foley and IV were taken out, I peed and then got to go home. I'm taking Tylenol 3 to help with the pain, but it might be even a little too strong because it makes me pretty woozy. Today I feel great. Went to the store. Felt almost normal. My doc has me on clears with a Protein shake until tomorrow when I start thin purees. He seems a lot stricter that most. He's been great, though.. I hope you feel well today! When is your follow up?

    Banded Nurses?

Hello my RN friends...especially those in Labor and Delivery Land. I've been a nurse since '93. LPN in '93 RN/BSN in '94 and CNM/MSN in '01. The last time I had weighed this much was in Midwifery school. Afterwards, I was able to take some of it off, but it crept back up again. So, I looked into the lap band and had it placed on Monday...along with Micah, right? So far,so good. My doc was pretty strict with the diet. I've been on clears and Protein shakes for 4 days. My daughter had a slice of pizza today and it reminded me of the Bugs Bunny episode where the 2 guys are on a deserted island and one is seen as a hamburger and the other a hotdog! Tomorrow I start with thin purees...do frozen margaritas count? I'm staying out of work for another week because I can't imagine a 13 hour night shift with only thin oatmeal to eat...any suggestions?

    Post op day one

Hi! I finally had it done! After a year of contemplating and YEARS of trying other diets, I was banded yesterday. The worst part was the general anesthesia. The pain is not too horrible. I'm on clears for today, then I can add a protein drink a day until Saturday...then it's 2 weeks of thin purees. YUM. I am so psyched about this that I feel like I'll do whatever it takes. I hope I can keep up the enthusiasm!
