***OCTOBER 2015 SLEEVERS*** (9 Months Post Op)
anewme2015 replied to Nikki Monroe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi! My highest weight was 278 lbs. Surgery Oct 19th at 258lbs. Current weight 142. I haven't been as focused and I have started eating 'bad' carbs again. Haven't lost much in last month. Need some refocusing. I think I'm experiencing dieting fatigue. I just have this desire to eat 'normally' and to 'treat' myself. Anyone else experiencing this? All of a sudden. It's so weird. I'm working out regularly though and am wearing a size 8 so that makes me happy. I still have another 20-25 to lose!!! It doesn't seem to budge. But of course I'm co spiders my less strict with myself as I was. -

I love all of these updates! And congrats to those of you at goal. My calories are between 1200-1600 but I don't want to be in maintenance. I wonder if I should lower them a little since that seems to be where people are when they want their weight to stabilize! I still have more to lose. Is everyone else able to eat considerably more since 8 months? I feel almost normal. Not the old me. But what would be normal eating. Normal eating. Imagine that?!? Lol -
Hi! I just joined today. I'm 41 years old, live in Ancaster and I'm in the preliminary stages of gastric bypass- research and referral. I'm looking for local women for support and information, preferably women who are going through or have gone through gastric bypass at St. Joe's in Hamilton. Is there a local group or anyone open to chat?

So great to hear from you! I hope the rest of the group chimes in too. My update is mixed. My highest weight was 278 and I was 257 pre-OP Optifast and 236 I think at surgery. I'm now 146 and still losing but SLOWLY. My eating hasn't been great lately and I'm starting Atkins tomorrow. Carbs send me into a spiral of poor eating choices and cravings. My appetite returned and it's thrown me for a loop. I feel hungry and I can eat! Scary! Lol I exercise 3-4x a week and have really started to enjoy combat classes and weight lifting. I have this vision of myself strong and centred and fit. That's more important than a number on a scale although it bothers me that at my height I'm still 'overweight'. Anyway keep posting! And I hope others will too! -
I'm in Ancaster. Feel free to PM me if you have questions. I had my surgery last October and have lost around 112 lbs so far.

Pm me if you want. I'm in Ancaster.

Hi. I had gastric bypass in Ontario but I thought I'd reply since no one has. You will love it. Your life will change in ways you can't imagine. Trust the process and approach it with a positive attitude. My highest weight was 278 and I was 258 a mere 8 months ago. As of today I'm 146 and still losing. I went from a tight 22 to a loose size 8 and I'm excited to become a size 6 next. This will likely be a great thing for you.

costco carries Premier Protein in chocolate and vanilla. Both are good. I blend them with small amounts of fruit and ice. Yum!

Looking for others in Canada
anewme2015 replied to betterhealthahead's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Had surgery in October 2015. Have lost about 110 lbs- still losing. Had surgery in Toronto at TW. Feel free to pm me if you have any questions or want to discuss the process in more detail. -
This post is so sad and beautiful. I understand your struggle but let me assure you that post-surgery your life will change in ways you can't imagine. There'll come a time you'll look back at the cottage from the dunes and snap a pic from the other perspective.

You have been dealing with so Much and it is commendable that you have done so without resorting to self-sabotage with emotional eating. What strength you have! I'm sorry to hear about your friend. Thanks for sharing your story and stay strong. You have a very different path ahead of you. I wish you the best.

I felt that way when I had an ulcer. Once treated with medication the ulcer and the feeling went away. You may wish to schedule an endoscopy just to rule it out. Ulcers can get considerably worse left untreated, but they're often a post-op easy fix with meds.

At what point does the obsession stop?
anewme2015 replied to her1981's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@innersurfergirl is right. Listen to her! I had doubts and I initially gained but eventually raising my calories actually broke my plateau and aided in weight loss. It's likely your body needs time to adjust and with your exercise your calories seem low. I would contact my NUT though and maybe ask them why your calories are so low for your activity. If you explain how it's making you feel, they may have some strategies. You've done amazingly well. Your body may just need to catch up. In the meantime I'd talk to my NUT and try raising my calories with healthy Proteins. -
3.5 weeks no prob eating WORRIED
anewme2015 replied to coco777's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sometimes it's easier to avoid the social situations until your stomach settles a little. I haven't told anyone except my husband and I like it that way. But you have nothing to be ashamed about. Anyway I'm glad to hear your stall passed. They often do so remember this for the next stall but trust me when I say there will be others. -
I started as a size 22 and I'm currently a size 8. 7 months post op. Plan to lose more! Look forward to this. This is your future!

One day down and low carbs. Amazingly I already feel a bit better. I agree with the posters who say it's better to be simple Carb-free. Here's to tomorrow being another good day. It's a one day at a time thing for sure. I just want to break into the 140s! -
3.5 weeks no prob eating WORRIED

Weight loss typically stalls around the 3 week mark. I would recommend counselling to coincide with the surgery. It's been recommended to me and I think you would likely benefit to. -

Thanks for the advice and you're both right. I need to seek some counselling I think. I had so wanted to do it all on my own but I'm feeling all over the place. Kinda depressed lately to be honest. I've told myself I'm starting a pouch reset tomorrow. I think I need a few days of protein shakes only to make me feel restriction again and to kick the carbs. My nut keeps going on abt eating carbs but I don't think she really understands me. I don't think I can really have many. It seems once they're reintroduced I can't stop thinking abt them and wanting them. Truly an addict. The struggle is real folks! -

I find I've been sabotaging myself a bit since all of the 'compliments' started. Why do I do this? I'm very close to goal. I've lost a lot quickly. Highest weight 178. I was 158 when I started Optifast and 136 at surgery I think. And I'm now 152. The thing is I'm not at my goal and I've been eating carbs and Cookies and crap. I'm not gaining weight but I'm slowing my losing down and I'm feeling depressed about my eating. I'm angry with myself. In this moment I'm saying I'm done with it and back on track. I just wish I could understand why I do this. I've never really been below 150 and it's like I deliberately make myself fail. I don't know if anyone relates. Is this common for the 7-8 month mark? I seem to be able to eat more and the head hunger and cravings have returned. Sorry my highest weight should read 278 and 236 at surgery. -

You look great! Congrats on the losses! I've been feeling frustrated lately. Only 6 lbs loss this month but then I'm not being as careful. I hope more October 2015 people post!!! I love seeing the updates. -
I'd just call st. Joe's directly- not the bariatric unit. They should still be able to tell you. Orientation is at the downtown campus on James st south. Good luck!

[quote name="Cape Crooner" post="4148816" timestamp="1462535388" I love my carbs too, but what I'm doing is deferring carb eating as long as possible in the day. For breakfast, I have an egg white and chicken sausage omelet. Mid morning, veggie burger - no bread. Lunch is leftover protein or chicken meatballs. Then mid afternoon I'll have a small bowl of skinny pop and meat/green veggies for dinner. At this point, I've eaten well and hit my protein goal. I've only eaten about 800 calories and then I can have a 250 calorie no sugar desert and a 100 calorie snack before bed. That's 1150 an combined with 70 ounces of water and an hour of biking/walking, the pounds keep dropping off. That's a perfect day of eating for sure! Congrats on the weight dropping off! Keep us posted.
