Greetings from Bangkok
Chrisann replied to bangkokcritter's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am always leery of medical care in Asia, but if you have the confidence in them, do the lapband surgery. It was the best thing I have ever done for myself. Its not a magic pill, you don't get it and then you lose the weight. Its a tool. You have to learn to eat again, recognize your triggers, recognize the foods you abuse and harness it all. Follow any rules your doctor gives you. Mine had me on a very restricted liquid plan 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after surgery. Didn't progress to solid foods for 5 weeks after surgery. All of that helped me get a grip on my eating and why. I am losing it slow, and am happy about it. I didn't get fat in a year, and don't expect to lose it all in a year. Have a realistic goal and don't beat yourself up if you have trouble reaching it. Good luck:thumbup: -
Well the looking, you can't stop that. My mom always said they can look but can't touch. I would bring it up to him, since he knows you have his camera. Maybe they were his sisters friends, or took them to show his buddies. The only way to not let it eat you is to bring it up.

Honestly, I stop reading these peoples posts. If they had done even an iota of real research they would have seen the basic rules to follow after surgery, even if their doctors office were telling them something else. I don't get why they would jeopardize themselves.

Semi-Embarrassing Question For The Ladies... (Sex-Related)
Chrisann replied to Angelyco's topic in The Gals' Room
I never had an issue being on top, even at my highest weight, I am 5'8" tall, so maybe that helped. That and strong legs...... -
I went from a DD to D in March, just about 3 months after surgery, but since then have maintained the D cup. I am down 54 pounds, and they certainly look better in the new size bra.

Thankfully weight is not necessary on our licenses here in NY.

Indention in port area
Chrisann replied to LeslieR041906's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 6 months out and the area of the port stitches are sunken it. It only hurts now if I bang that area on my desk or if I put on too tight jeans, but back in the beginning it used to bother me a lot. -
A friend yelling at me at a bar saying DON'T EAT THAT!
Chrisann replied to katie78's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would have walked over and said, Thanks, but I can eat what I want and I want a few fries. I don't need you saying a damn thing. You don't see me stopping your booze fest, do you? -
Why am I keeping it Quiet???
Chrisann replied to sandibly's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have pretty much told anyone who has asked about my weight loss. I have no shame or guilt going the surgery route, no diet had ever worked for me. My parents even tell people as they are so proud of what I have accomplished so far. Having people at work know about it, has them thinking about healthy eating, and seriously, more people bring their lunch to work now, and ask my opinion on healthy eating. Its been a work in progress, learning how to eat again, eating healthy, making the right food choices. I like people asking my opinion on this and I like the comments I am getting. I will never tire of that. That people are noticing me, instead of me being the invisible fat person is great. And if someone has some snarky comment, I ignore it, and think f**k you. Most people I know need to lose a few pounds themselves. -
I am guessing that means Protein shakes, or smoothies. I really can't remember who gave it out. But I guess with that 45g protein, plus the protein from the 5 3oz servings, you are doubling your protein for the day, so maybe that is why it busts the plateau.

I am 6.1 cc in a 10cc band, and think I need a bit more. I have lost one pound in three weeks, and had been averaging about 1 a week. I am able to eat a little too much these days. Eating healthy things, but a bit too much. On another note, had a complete physical last week, and got the results today, BP was 110/70, Cholesterol was 156, among other things. My BP was generally average in the past, but at last years physical, my cholesterol was 214. So another great result of losing weight. B-Man, I would call the docs office. You should not be feeling pain when you eat something.

What do you eat in a Mexican Restaurant?
Chrisann replied to Officeslave's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I came on to post that. IF you get the build your own fajitas, get the shrimp, chicken or steak or a combo of them. Then don't eat the tortillas, but as Tess said cut it up really well, and eat it with the guacomole and salsa. Its great, even when you have it left over and cold. -
Stay away from the scale. Ramp up the liquids, maybe go all liquid for a day, you know, the Protein shakes, slim fast etc. Eat more fruit, of whatever kind you can get down. Stay away from the crackers or cheeses or even Soups. At work, I have a plateau busters food plan that I got at a support meeting. When I go in tomorrow I will scan it in and if you send me your email, will send it to you.

Well all, 5 months out, I hit my first goal, which I had set for July, I am very conservative with my weight loss. I am officially at 51 pounds down!!:wink2::biggrin: Not only that, the doctor said that I didn't need a fill, so no fill today. Its my birthday too, so now I can have the sensible lunch out with the coworkers instead of the Protein shakes today!!!!! Last night I tried on almost every thing from one side of my closet, and can only save or tailor 8 of 25 outfits. I was crying when I was trying this stuff on and they were too big. Geez, lots of emotions when losing weight that I never thought of. But today has started out being a fantastic day.

Well I tell you the heat in NYC has been atrocious. I haven't been able to walk and I haven't been able to really eat anything. For the first three days this week it was lots of Water, smoothies, slim fasts and I actually finished a whole watermelon. I weighed myself and gained 3 pounds, I attributed that to the weather and that I was retaining water. I didn't let it bother me much and all of a sudden between yesterday and today, I must have been in the bathroom 30 times. I was able to eat a small midday meal yesterday, and today had 2 scrambled eggs in the morning :rolleyes2:, (I could never eat in the AM), and boiled shrimp for lunch and no dinner. So I think I am back to normal. Great weight loss NYG and CPMU you are guys are doing fabulous. I am back to the doctor in two weeks. Have my annual Physical with my PCP tomorrow.

Well I just turned 41 and that comment was made right to my face. Mind you, I called my wedding off just three weeks before it was scheduled and this person knew that, This person also knew that even when I was fatter I had a healthy dating life. Nonetheless, now that I am not dating anyone, the comment to my face was, well you had the surgery to snag a man into marriage, seeing that you couldn't get one of them to commit to you before. I responded that I would rather be alone and happy than to be miserable and married like she was.

AT LAST!! I no longer have 100lb to lose!
Chrisann replied to Fanny Adams's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congrats everyone, I am joining you with the less than 100 pounds to lose now. Its a great feeling, even though I still have to lose close to the 100, but it feels great. -
Its been so freakin hot in NYC for the past three days I can't motivate myself to walk or do a damn thing. Not only that, I have not been hungry for a few days either, been drinking up a storm of Water, slimfast, and veggies and fruits I have juiced. I have even finshed a 10 pound watermelon. But no real food. Want to hear the kicker, I have gained 3 pounds. I think its my body retaining water in all this heat. But since I haven't been hungry I am just drinking so I am not letting it bother me. My band, I guess, likes the heat.

Experiencing very slow weight loss
Chrisann replied to NikkiH's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You should never be embarrassed to go to the doctors. Maybe the band was never filled, maybe its detached. Who knows. But remember a doctor saw you naked at birth, saw you in all your glory for the surgery and is the only person to help you with this problem. They don't like to see people fail either, so go to the doctor.... -
Thanks everyone, you are all getting close. I am figuring 30 more for the rest of the year, so the 50 was big for me. I am so happy with my progress these past few months. Had a 4oz filet mignon tonite and some grilled veggies and I feel great. Its so cool to finally get the portion control down and be satisfied on such a small meal that 7 months ago I would have had as an appetizer.

Well I guess if you are in, respond with a post, that way we can all support each other. I made it way over 630 minutes in May, so personally, I will be reaching for 900 minutes in June. If there is a response I will start a new June thread.

My first month was a mess, I couldn't get anything down for a week after the surgery, and had complications right from the start. Had a bad reaction to the morphine, was dry heaving for hours after the surgery, had a reaction to the latex, had to go back to the hospital 2 days after my release, had lymph node draining issues, developed a nasty rash across my midsection, had to go back to the hospital again, couldn't lift anything, couldn't roll over in bed, couldn't get comfortable. Was taking massive pain killers, was beat during the day, drugged at night to sleep. It took me a solid month to get back to some normalcy. Now, just 5 months out, things have calmed down, and I can honestly say, I would do it all again. I am so happy with how the band is working for me. Hang in there, trust your doctor. You will see that this was for you.

Thanks everyone.:tt2: Had Chinese food for lunch today, took half back to the office, its tomorrows lunch!! Had just wine and cheese for dinner, and half of a non fat Carvel ice cream Sundae. Heather, excellent on the workout time for the month of May. You will be down the 4 pounds any day now with all that activity.
