No time to do anything.
Chrisann replied to LeslieR041906's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drag my sister walking with me, and to get her to do, because she is "parent". (That is her excuse all the time why she doesn't/can't do anything) She puts my nephew in the carriage and we walk. -
Thats great about the size, but even better, the clothes didn't cost you anything!!! I am down to a 20 from a 24 and can't afford to buy stuff right now. There are no exchanges or anything here. I hate my support group so don't go anymore.

One hamburger = diet??? I'm in trouble!
Chrisann replied to midwestchickie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am 6 months out from surgery, and had a big family bbq over the weekend and had a cheese burger, no bun, and a tablespoon amount of cole slaw, on a small plate, and no one really noticed I was eating so slow. In the meantime the "normal" sized people were eating 2 burgers on one bun with lots of other stuff. I noticed them..... -
on the NYC subway, there are three seats together, and the middle seat can be tight. It used to be when I sat on one side, no one would sit in the middle, now, I can sit on one side and there is room in the middle seat for someone to sit down.

I forgot to take a picture this weekend for my 6th month bandiversary. I know that I am down to a size 20 from a 24 in pants, so that is better than a picture in my mind....

Well I am too damn tight, and had a bad weekend. 5 out of 6 of my siblings and families, along with my parents, and one of my sisters inlaws got together for the weekend. 17 adults, 7 kids, and my mom cooking all weekend. So, in a nutshell, Friday, one hamburger, 2 Slimfast. Saturday, 2 chicken cutlets, cottage cheese. Sunday, one slice of ham. Thats all I was able to keep down all weekend. Had a sugar free ice, and sugar free chocolate pudding here and there, and 4 slices of cheese all weekend. Tried other things, but got down one or two bites. I PB'd Watermelon!!! Yep watermelon. If it wasn't for the Propel that I could actually get down and my Vitamins, I would have come out of this weekend sicker than I feel. So, I don't know what to do at this point. My mother didn't like my color this weekend. I still had energy, able to swim everyday and do my walks.

I got a fill on Wednesday and now at 6.6cc's in my 10cc band. Today I start mushy food, and its been tough so far. But I am not sick or feeling crummy yet today......

Lap Band ladies....does this make you hate your boobs??
Chrisann replied to MellyBelle's topic in The Gals' Room
Day of surgery 42DD, now 53 pounds down, a comfortable 42D, and with the inches I lost off my stomach, my cleavage looks unbelievably good!!!! -
I have NSA type guy, its just for the sex, not dating or in a relationship with each other. And I can't believe I am saying this either, as he was doing his thing to me, he reached up to my boobs and commented that he had a clearer path to get there, and get this, my ass fits in his hands better.

What the Hell? Why not celebrate here. That is what we are here for. When others in your life can't understand your goals you know we do. Congrats on the weight loss!!!
-
Congratulations and have a nice trip too! Enjoy yourself:biggrin: And kissing the nurse, who knows maybe she would have liked it. lol

I lost only one pound today, but I got into a pair of size 20 pants. So I don't mind the weight loss being low, because I got into a pair of pants three sizes lower than where I started!!!!
-
Ok, did lose that 1 pound this month, bringing my total to 53. I am ok with that. The watermelon is fine, but its not Protein, is what I was told. I understand that too. I got an additional .50cc's bringing my total to 6.6cc's in a 10cc band. I feel it tight after this fill, liquid is going down slow, and I am back to the sipping I did right after surgery.

Oddly enough, no. I was never a big candy eater, so don't really miss it. For example, I have a box of Whoppers in the fridge I bought in a moment of weakness and have eaten maybe 20 in the past 3 weeks. My problem was ice cream. Now its not in the house. Otherwise that would be all I would be eating. My crave now is watermelon. I ate a whole seedless one over 3 days. Not sure if that might be reason my weight loss slowed; you know, sugar content in the fruit... Anyway, go for a fill in about 7 hours now, so its time to get to bed.:thumbup:

I go on Wednesday and haven't lost more than a pound since my last doctor visit. I didn't get filled that time. I am at 6.1 cc's in a 10cc band. I want some more because I am at that tight in the morning can eat the cow in the evening place.

Finally working; I sound like a commercial
Chrisann replied to ladytuscanny's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congrats Lady!!!! We have all been here through your struggles, and its great that you have finally felt what we have. I give you lots of props for hanging in there. I would watch Jamba Juice. Go to their website and check out the nutritional info. I was stunned at the fat and calories in smoothies. Its scary. I go to Smoothie King every now and then, and I wind up always getting the Gladiator, cause it has no fat, 40+ proteins. Everything else there is way too bad for me, even though its fruit based. -
My period was regular, 28 days to the day, and then, on the day of my surgery got it. 4 days early. Then, didn't get it for nearly 6 weeks later, and I panicked that I was pregnant just after getting the band. I wasn't. Then, got it 3 weeks later, and finally in April, it went back to normal. Now, I get really bad cramps and visible weight gain. Weird because I had never had that problem before. I get cramping on day 2 and 3, and then its over and the period is over by day 4. Doctor said that peoples cycles change and mine coincided with the lap band surgery.
-
Well I am in this a bit late, but I had a problem swallowing up until about 5 weeks after surgery. After that back to normal. But with the weight loss thus far, doing it in different positions than we used to. I don't care about the calories either, I know that I don't like it when he has eaten something spicy during the day because it tastes spicy.:tt2:

My concerns about telling people.
Chrisann replied to midwestchickie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oddly enough, I have told everyone. I started to show the weight loss, and people ask and I say it straight out. I don't care whether there are good remarks or negative remarks made, I did this for me and no one else. -
:biggrin:Great, its a good feeling to hit 50 pounds or just about 50 isn't it.

I am at 6cc, but can eat in the AM now, so want a fill. Its not the scale I am focusing on either, its how much I am able to eat. Still making good food choices, but eating more than I should be. I make AM appts because they see you pretty much on time. When I make the middle afternoon ones, I am always there for a while and wind up missing a few hours of work. With the AM appts, I get to work around 10am. When I have been hungry after eating a meal, I have been eating fruit. I don't know if that is good or not but I am usually satisfied after that.
-
What day is your visit, I am going in on July 2 at 9:30am. And I need a fill. The scale hasn't moved much for me either. You look great too!

Does Band get tighter over time? Can't drink in AM.
Chrisann replied to MaireCA's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The band for most people is tight in the AM, even weeks after a fill. Generally I sip warm tea, and then can get something down by 11am. So don't panic, morning tightness is normal. -
Is this why I'm NOT losing?
Chrisann replied to katie78's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I was told that I actually have to eat to lose weight. Limiting your calorie intake to less than 1000 a day can actually impede your weight loss. Doctor said that if I am tight all day and can't get solids down, have yogurt, cottage cheese or Protein shakes. I should be around 1200-1400 a day to stay balanced. Your body goes into starvation mode and you burn muscles for fuel before your body goes after the fat. I was not eating at all two weeks after my last fill, and had to see my PCP. When he weighed me, I had gained 2 pounds since the fill and said that to him, and thats when he told me the above. -
Greetings from Bangkok
Chrisann replied to bangkokcritter's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I can't answer all of your questions, but can get to some of them. You do get hungry, and you learn how much you can eat. You fill up fast too, so always chew, chew, chew and then chew some more. Focus on Proteins. You should get a plan from your doctor. I am averaging about 4oz of food at a sitting. The problem I had last month was that I was dehydrated, not eating or drinking because I didn't feel like it. So, I had a trip to the doctors and was told to at least drink Protein shakes or eat yogurt if I am not hungry to get some food down everyday. You are not supposed to starve with the band. I also take a multi Vitamin everyday. I can't drink and eat at the same time. I usually make sure to drink about 15 minutes before eating, and then don't drink for a hour after eating, if I drink sooner than that, I wind up coughing everything back up. I can't tolerate really cold drinks anymore either and you have to sip. Sure you can be a vegetarian, there are threads on this site for that. I can't tell you about being at goal, as I am far from goal. The band allows you to live a normal life. You can still go out with family and friends to dinner, you can still go to a bar. You are just living a healthier lifestyle and making right food choices. I make mistakes, we all do, but you just get right back up and continue on your journey. I think the best advice I would give now is to learn how to eat properly, how to choose the healthier food, learn to not give into cravings, be conscious about binging emotionally. Its tough and its a learning process everyday, but I am finding that by making these choices, and being proactive, I am comfortable with my progress. I love living in NYC and wouldn't trade it for the world. It must have been a difficult decision to move to Bangkok.
