Usually the psych test is before the surgery date and the nutritionist, maybe they think you got it already. Congrats on getting your date though!!!:whoo:

Okay, I'm starting to get worried...
Chrisann replied to AmberWaves's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Its amazing when they have to reschedule how fast everything works. My surgery is now on December 31, and all of a sudden the doctor is available, they got me in for the pre-surgical testing next Wed, etc. When they called me on Friday, it was like take January 25. That the only reschedule day. -
Ok, so added myself to Shelia's just posted list. Wasn't planning on having it moved up. The hospital moved my surgery to January 25 from January 21, and I couldn't do it on that date. The only day my surgeon, Dr. Christine Ren, was available was Dec 31.
-
Sorry I quoted the one that was posted yesterday.
-
Surgery is moved to December 31, Dr. Ren will be here, but then thats it until when she was supposed to operate on me January 21. Nothing is available with her if I didn't take that date. So thanks, because I am going to need all the good luck to go through the liquid diet during the most stressful holiday time of the year.
-
Adding myself to you guys. Just found out that my surgery was moved from January 21 to December 31. Its going to take me some time to read all the posts, but happy to be moved up 3 weeks.
-
Well everybody, I am leaving you. My surgery has been rescheduled for December 31, yep, New Years Eve. I figure with the liquid diet starting on December 17, only 7 days away, and me having to go through the worst two weeks of the year, I am going to be either dead on December 31, or raring to go.
-
Well I am going to see what they say next week. Thanks for the support. I was so upset last night over this. It would cost my parents $800 to change their plans, and I can't ask them to pay that.
-
I was not due in there for a sit down until the end of the month. My surgery was originally scheduled for Jan. 21, but I receivd a call from them yesterday saying it had to be moved because the hospital doesn't want surgeries on that day. I need to have it on that day or earlier in January. so now I am going to try to get in there to sit down with Nilsa and Dr. Ren and try to move it up in January. When I was there for my surgical consultation it was packed with people on all different stages and the fill people were upset they had to wait. I was originally scheduled for January 7, (told that over the phone) then changed to January 21, and then yesterday the call the change would be to the 25th. It can't be then. My parents are in town until January 28, because they were going to be with me for the surgery and afterwards, and my job gets crazy again after January 28. So, needless to say, if something can't be done, I may not be having it there after all.
-
Cool thanks, because there were people complaining in the waiting room about that when I went for my surgical consultation. Since they don't return phone calls lately anyway, its good to hear from someone who has been there.

Okay, I'm starting to get worried...

I get you on this. I have to wait until Monday to find out why my surgery is being moved. I am angry and will be this way all weekend. -
I am more pissed off over this than anything else I can remember. I am not sad, but angry, very angry.:angry:mad: My original date that was promised to me was January 7. Unfortunately, that was over the phone. When I went in, we called my parents to confirm the dates they could be here, and it wasn't even as late as the date that was now scheduled, (January 21) but Dad cleared his medical followup for that week to be with me. I was told that no surgeries were being done on January 7th at NYU. Then I read on this very board that someone is having surgery that day there. My office is slow in the beginning of January, I explained this to the people at NYU as to why my surgery wasn't going to be scheduled in November or December. This is our busy time and I am making business trips. Now, even though its only December, we have made schedule changes at work. I have to return to work on January 28. I am going back out of town on February 29th. I can change the surgery date to any day before January 21. I am going to have a laptop to use at the hospital and at home. I am responsible for many things and the people at work have a hard time coping when I am not there. Even if I could change the issues at work, I will not have the surgery if my parents can't be with me before, during and after. The good thing about living in NYC, there are a host of other great hospitals here that have qualified doctors. So, this weekend I am going to explore those, and see if all my pre-surgical stuff, nutritionist, psychological, etc could carry over to another hospital.

Got a call today on my cell, so I don't answer it during the day. It was the doctors office moving my surgery to January 25th. I called them back just now and left the meanest sounding message I have ever left for anyone, my office can't have me out the following week, my parents are going back to Florida the following week etc. I am so pissed. So, so pissed.
-
I live alone too, and my parents are going to stay in NY a month after Christmas to be with me during and after the surgery. I am so thankful to them for that, because there was no way I could go through the surgery and the week after alone. I have never spent more than a few hours in an ER, so staying overnight in a hospital actually scares me. Mind you, I am from a large family, but they are all married with families of their own and I couldn't impose on them for this. I wish I could give you some advice on your situation, and I give you lots of props to go this alone.
-
Congratulations anyway. It is so much better to plan when you have a date even if its not official.:clap2:
-
I would tell them that you are doing it and its going to keep you around them for a long, long time when you get yourself healthy. Besides, they can help you out and get you quality family time, taking walks.
-
She is my doctor for my upcoming surgery, but heard that she doesn't do the fills herself, someone else in the office does. I was planning on asking those questions when I go into the office next time.

Flexible Spending/Flex Benefits...How much?
Chrisann replied to kimillionaire's topic in Insurance & Financing
I agree with finding out how much the insurance company is going to cover. I found out today that my Flex plan will cover liquid vitamins and supplements if the doctor writes a note stating they are necessary. Flex can cover the fills, and the copays to the doctors office every time you have to go. It can cover the Gas X that everyone here recommends for right after the surgery. Plus it covers glasses, and contacts, visits to the dentist, prescriptions, over the counter drugs, and even bandaids. I would take as much as you can afford to take out of your salary. At the end of the year, if you have $$ left over, gather the receipts from your family members and friends for drug store purchases and submit them. -
Couldn't you ask your doc to recommend someone closer to you for an emergency visit? He could call and explain the situation.

Psychological Exam & Liquid Diet Options?
Chrisann replied to My Life Back's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think every psych eval is different. I answered about 20 written questions about behavior. She asked about stresses in my life, what foods could I identify as the "trigger" foods, why I wanted the surgery. How long I had been overweight, what my relationships were like. All in all, it went very well, after all you are talking to a stranger, and more often than not, you are going to tell a stranger more about yourself than any other person in your life. -
Pre-Op Practice Eating
Chrisann replied to allheart's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Doing it now. Trying to have one meal a day liquid, and not eating and drinking during the "real" meal. Only eating when I am really hungry and not just for the sake of eating. Watching that I am putting quality food in me, not crap, and watching the Protein in the foods I am having, along with the carbs and fats. Its working more times than not and is difficult, but its getting better. I didn't want to hit the liquid cold turkey, cause that is usually when I fail something. People are telling me that teaching yourself to eat right is hard, so I am not feeling bad, but I am guessing (from what I have read on these boards) that if I fail in this endeavor with the band, its going to hurt (like in pain). -
Wow, you do have an easy pre opt. I am doing one liquid meal a day now, just to get ready, and then I want to do 2 a day by the end of December, so that on January 7 when I have to go all liquid I can do it.

What's YOUR protien goal?
Chrisann replied to Foofy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My doctor said to try to get up to 100 grams a day for the pre-op and then afterwards. -
I was told I can have 2 cups (16oz) max a day of coffee in my pre-op period.

In prepping for my surgery, I am trying lots of stuff. Haven't tried unjury yet, but have chocolate Isopure. Its alright, I can drink it, but not all the time. I have to find out from the doc if I can add fruit to it. Picked up the unflavored Protein today at GNC, Designer whey Protein, 19 grams protein per scoop and 90 calories, 1 gram fat, 2grams sugar. I want to add it to the Smoothie frozen kits I got at Target for $2.49 for a change of pace as well as to other stuff now to start to get ready too. SlimFast is still my backup, liquid in the can, I can drink that all day, the Proteins aren't as high though.
