From October 13th. Will take the next picture on Christmas Eve with the family. I have lost 13 pounds since this photo.
-
Well 2 shakes into the day, cup of tea, and decaf Hazelnut coffee, and my stomach is grumbling. Loudly. I attribute that to no food all weekend because of the stomach virus. Just checked my pre opt options, and have sugar free jello, sugar free ice pops, 2 cups of vegetables and broth too.

Local, well, as local as one can say NYC is. I live in Brooklyn, surgery in Manhattan. Depending on traffic, can take anywhere from 20 minutes to 2 hours to get there. ITs a 20 minute walk from my office, or 45 minute cross town bus.

Just found out from my Oxford rep, (I am the Benefits Administrator for my company) that I was approved on December 13. Imb316, I am waiting to get the time. I am supposed to be very early in the day, like the first one of the day, but haven't heard yet. I am also making sure to bring my cell phone, and screw the no cell phone policy in hospitals, so I am with my friends and family when the ball drops. Hopefully will be in a room where someone isn't going to mind me being on the phone at midnight. I also need to have a tv in there. Did you start your liquids today? I was originally scheduled for January 21, which is why I am in this group.

I give you alot of credit, me, i would have been, well I had this surgery and I want it back.
-
So what were you drinking that were classified as clear liquids?

Starting to get a little freaked out....

I start my liquid diet tomorrow, and I am feeling the jitters now too. I spent the last 3 days with a stomach virus. My surgery is New Years Eve. They only gave me that day less than a week ago when my original date was nixed by the hospital. I am not panicked yet. My best friend is pissing me off, claims its minor surgery, etc. I say any surgery is serious, and should be taken seriously. He says I am worrying about stupid things. -
Greek yogurt has high protein too.

How ironic is it that I start my liquid diet on Monday and I have been battling a stomach virus for two days now, and can't keep a damn thing down. Here I was thinking that I could eat three solid meals a day this weekend, and one french fry from my friend sent me right back into the bathroom to puke.:help:

I am leading towards the January Jewels and the New Years Resolosers. Don't like anything with Jolly in it, reminds of the Jolly Fat person jokes.

I am in Brooklyn and having surgery with Dr. Ren at NYU. Good luck with getting your date. I agree with you about being a food addict, when I first got my date of New Years Eve, I was upset that I would be on a liquid diet through all the parties and Christmas Eve, Christmas Day. What I failed to realize is that its the food that I would miss, not the people, I could still go and enjoy the company, just not eat the same things.

Very funny. I asked the Nutritionist at NYU about the pre op meals. I am going to be on Slim Fast most of the time, with assorted other not so good tasting Protein shakes. I can have plain broth with 2 cups of veggies, and sugar free ice pops under 30 calories. Have to have a 1000 calories, 35g fat, and 55g protein a day. For Christmas eve, she said I can have veggies, salad, with nothing on them and broiled fish. So since my mom does the Italian fish night for Christmas Eve, she will put things together so I can still sit at the table with the family. There will be 40 of us!!

Well, I tell you, being mean is not my personality, but the call I got the next day, I took my brow beating, don't shoot the messenger, etc, but they moved awfully swiftly to get me a date. My doctor is Christine Ren. Under the last resort I would have switched hospitals, as I am not fond of Dr. Kurian, and Dr. Fielding was as booked up as Dr. Ren. I am so much more comfortable here since I have been posting with January people so they made me an honorary member.

I am 40, single from Brooklyn,NY. Was with the January 08 crowd until this week when my surgery changed to December 31. I start my liquid diet on Monday, my surgeon requires 2 weeks. I can have 2 cups of veggies a day so that is what is going with my broth. So, by New Years Eve I will either be dead or raring to go. liquid diet through 3 Christmas Parties and Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.:angry:help:

I start my liquid diet on Monday. 2 weeks for my surgeon. I am so enjoying food this week, taking my time and enjoying it. If I was doing that all my life, maybe I would have never need to have this surgery.
-
Wow another person!! Anthony where in NY are you? Who is your doctor?
-
Not really, but I am the Benefits Administrator at my company and have a direct rep at Oxford, that I deal with directly because of the size of our account. He told me that I will be approved as soon at the hospital submits the papers. He keeps checking for me. Good luck with your efforts.

Had my medical clearance with my regular doctor today, lost 3lbs since the November visits. 3 lbs in 5 weeks sucks, but that is why I am going for the band. I spent the night cleaning out the fridge, and threw away lots of stuff. Have my best friend and one of my sisters coming over this weekend to take some of the frozen meats I won't be able to eat for awhile. I have stocked up on Slim Fast, luckily it was on sale. The nutritionist said I can have a little bit of food at my office Christmas Party and on Christmas Eve. I had a calzone for dinner tonite, so I won't miss it. Going out with my girlfriends tomorrow night, having Steak, since I won't be able for awhile, and not sure what on Sunday. Liquid starts Monday.

Good luck and let us know of your journey. You will always be a part of us.

How funny brez. I was with the Happy New Year crew, and then my surgery was changed to December 31. I am now an honorary member here because I will be in the hospital from December 2007 to New Years 2008 so I am member of both groups. I was with these guys from my first days here, which is why I am more comfortable.

I am going to drink Slim Fast, 10 grams Protein in each one, and its on my doctors list, and then have one Isopure chocolate shake, with I think 40 grams of protein in it while on my liquid phase. I also bought the unflavored Protein powder I am sure towards the end I can mix that into something, maybe even the broth with the veggies. I bought the Isopure and unflavored protein powder at GNC.

Am I The Only Real Overeater In This Forum??
Chrisann replied to rebandit's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh I am an overeater too. Just not overeating junk food. Over eating healthy things and that is the same as overeating junk food though, you still get fat. -
Congrats on the date, I am December 31. My doctor requires 1000 calories a day, 35g fat, 55g protein, liquid diet. Try the Slim fast cans, 10g protein, 140 calories. You can mix those in everyday. I start the liquid on December 17, my doc calls for two weeks.

Congratulations!!!:clap2::whoo:

Glad there's alot more people having their surgeries in January. Welcome. I have to come off the list now because I have been rescheduled to December 31. Starting the liquid phase on Monday, Dec. 17. I feel more connected to you all than to the Merry Losers of December.:cry
