Isopure clear protein drink
Chrisann replied to jewelee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I mix a scoop of Isopure low carb chocolate with the Carnation Instant Breakfast, milk and 3 ice cubesand get a drink that is like a milkshake. One scoop of the Isopure is 25 grams of Protein. Designer whey (designerwhey.com) is giving free samples of the protein to go. Its like a crystal light shot that goes in a bottle of Water and will give you 10 grams of protein. -
Did your Doc require a pre-op diet?
Chrisann replied to whosthatgirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My doctor merely sent all my records to the Lap Band surgeon's office. I spent more than 15 years trying to lose weight. I didn't do a 6 month diet before they scheduled surgery and I was approved. My insurance is Oxford Liberty PPO. I am in day 10 of my liquid phase. -
Call it the liquid phase and remove the word diet. Try one shake in the morning for two days, and then move up to 2 a day and eat sensibly. At least your doctor didn't require you to be on a liquid phase.

Wow. This preop diet is something else.

Christmas Eve the nutritionist let me have 6oz fish and veggies, so I had only one shake that day. Christmas Day wasn't really hungry, so had a few shakes and veggies. Yesterday back to work, had a hersheys kiss and a handful of nuts, but had three shakes and broth with veggies. Also ate about 15 green olives as my friend is coming next week and I crave salt. Figured the olives were better than the pretzels I normally eat. Started off today with a smoothie, 450 calories, half my days allowance, but 67 grams of Protein, 0 fat, 46 carbs. I figure that can hold me until about 3 pm. -
Final Poll To Vote For Group Name

I was leaning towards the January Jewels, but since I am on New Years Eve, going to go with New Years Knockouts. -
I am set to be banded on Monday, and the only option for me was the band. I had no desire to spend longer time in the hospital than I had to. I did not want someone to cut up my insides and rearrange things. I liked the idea that the lap band was the most minimally invasive procedure I could do with a shorter recovery time so I could go back to work.

At least you can have meat. I am on all liquid, with broth, Jello, ice pops and 2 cups veggies a day thrown it. -
I was sick the weekend before my pre opt started too. Now I am in day 10 of my liquid diet. Its been all up and down too, but hang it there people.

My sister is taking care of my dog, and I am going to stay with my parents for about 5 days, whether I need to or not. Its been about 25 years since either one of them actually took care of me, so I am going to take advantage of their offer. -
Any Pre-Op Cheaters?
Chrisann replied to princesstracey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I understand the liquid diet, because without it, I would be having a hard time, not to mention more expensive time trying to stick to a high protein diet. Its much easier for people to understand, "hey, I am on a liquid diet" then to say "Hey Im am on a high protein diet". I feel that the liquid has shrunken my stomach a bit because I would have eaten every single course. I didn't eat: baked clams, linguini with clam sauce, fried shrimp, fried filet, calamari in red sauce over spaghetti, tilapia with red sauce and garlic, sauteed scallops. So, being able to stop where I did amazed my relatives more than I thought. And several of them said that to me. Hearing my family tell me that they are proud of me for sticking to this, when even the skinny ones said they give me a lot of credit because they couldn't do it, was the motivation I needed to get through these last five days. Truth be told, I did have a hersheys kiss this morning, and about 6 almonds. The willpower still stinks and these were in the kitchen at my office when I went for my shake. Of course in the past, I would have taken a handful of kisses and probably a cup full of nuts. -
Hey lkgrubb, I added you. Congrats to all the newbies!!

Any Pre-Op Cheaters?
Chrisann replied to princesstracey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too am on a liquid diet. I had asked my dietician about the big fish extravaganza my Mom puts on for Christmas Eve. She allowed me as much plain veggies as I could eat, plus up to 6oz of broiled, boiled, baked fish. My Mom was so extremely good to me, with 29 other family members to prepare for, made me a shrimp cocktail with 3 shrimp, then 2 oz. of fish salad plain, and then a 5 oz lobster tail that was broiled with lemon juice. So, I had about 8oz of fish, but it was all Protein. I had plain broccoli and a steamed artichoke. I was full. So I didn't miss eating the other several fish courses. So, today, I didn't feel the hint of hunger, but when I sat down with my family, a smaller number today, I really did just do a smoothie with 30grams of protein and plain veggies. I think if she allowed me to cheat this day and then once last week for my office Christmas Party, and if this is the only day you did this on, you should be fine. So talk to the dietician and confess, that way you can figure out what you can do the next few days to make things easier on you for the surgery. -
Thanks Jim. My doc said the liquid diet was to defat the liver, and in all the nutritional requirements, it only said to go Lo Carb. I have to have 1000 calories a day, at least 50g protein and no more than 35g fat. So never realized that the Ritz were high carb.

Welcome all the newbies!!:whoo::clap2: To add a ticker go to Trying To Conceive Ticker and follow the directions

Well I ate a sleeve of Ritz crackers. Yep, even when I was eating alot, that got me this fat in the first place, I never ate a sleeve of Ritz Crackers. Decided I need the protein after all so had a Carnation Instant Breakfast, and thats been it since 10pm. Ginger hang in there, its all up and downs. But, after reading other threads, its the same way when the band goes in. Everyday is different.

Just a bunch of random whininess and complaints

I am in my pre surgery liquid phase, and use Designer Whey Natural flavor to mix in and aside from a smooth feeling in the drink, I don't taste it. -
At my Church the wine is optional, so just pass it up. The Communion at our parish melts in your mouth if you let it. So I think you should be fine.
-
For me, it was health reasons, but not the ones most think of. I had been researching the band for the past year. But, in May, I turned 40 and the injuries began. I pinched a nerve in my neck, then hurt my arm, then tore a ligament in my foot. That was it. So, I am now 8 days from surgery.

Bad, Bad day. Wanted to eat Meat, and lots of it. So instead, had an entire quart of broth with mixed veggies. Now I feel like I am swishing around. Not enough protein in today, but if I didn't have it in meat, it wasn't going to happen. Thankfully, I go back to work tomorrow.

Well, I took my friend Joe to work tonite, and we again had the weight loss surgery conversation. So Red, you said above what I said to him. Yes, I am losing weight on the liquid diet, but I can't do this for the rest of my life, and I would go right back to eating what I always did to get this fat in the first place. I had to remind him I had tried every diet over the past 20 years. So getting approved and actually putting a date on the calendar, when I will take the first step to losing weight and being healty, puts it all into perspective. While I have to learn how to eat again, I know that I will never eat the quantity of food that I have eaten in the past. And that thought makes getting approved for surgery all that much sweeter.

Somebody make them STOP eating in front of me!!!!

What if you make yourself a protein shake and sip that while they are eating junk? -

I am in day 6 of the liquid diet. As long as I hit the protein number I am not feeling hungry, but boy, when I feel hungry, I could eat the couch. -
:whoo:Congratulations everyone, you are all getting close.

Well I did have to contain myself with not saying the remark I was thinking, which was, "you could use this surgery yourself sweetie".
