I have been writing down what I eat and when. Then when the head hunger hits, I read the times and say to myself there is no way you are hungry, its only been 2 hours, etc. I repeat it. If it is still there, I get up and walk around. And then if its still there, I cut up a grapefruit into sections, like if you buy it in the supermarket in a jar, and slowly eat the sections. I find that by that point, I don't even eat all of it.

Gee thanks. That sound, and slime is always sexy. lol Especially when you are sitting in your office with a tissue over your face..... I had a conference call to take and I had to mute it every five seconds for the clearing of my throat sound. But now, all is good. But wow, a bad 45 minutes for a smoothie. Can't imagine if I had some food doing that to me.

If you can get a small amount of pasta down, with a meat sauce, like 10 pieces of ziti, does that mean you need more restriction?

2wks post op - side pain - help!
Chrisann replied to Ang1982's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had side pain, especially when I was trying to turn over in bed. It felt like the fat moved first and then the muscle, it hurt like hell. I started to use a heating pad. It eventually went away by 4 weeks. I would still see if the doctors office has someone you can talk to anyway. My doc was on vacation and I had problems and saw her associate. -
Well Orange Mom, Jackie was voted off. The Black team kicked the Blue team out of the water, and Jackie was scheming and it back fired. I never liked her or the son, so tonite was a pleasure to watch.

I need a little more in my band I think. I feel like I ate alot over a two hour period tonite, maybe I didn't, but I never felt full, let alone satisfied. Its very weird, so I got on the exercise bike for 20 minutes, and then had a sugar free ice. But still don't have a full or satisfied feeling. Heck, today is called Fat Tuesday, so maybe my band is giving me a break. I am writing down what I eat to see if I see a trend by the time I go to the doctor on the 15th.

Extra skin...???
Chrisann replied to longwalker1961's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor also commented that losing it slow helps as well. -
I can't blame my parents for what I was. I was 100 pounds in 3rd grade, wearing a size 18 in HS. I have siblings who do not have weight issues. I wasn't getting special meals or more food from my parents. I was sneaking it. Can I blame my parents for not watching me? No, did they put healthy food on the table and in the house Yes. Did I get fat from eating junk? No. I got fat from eating too much. That was me putting it in, not my parents force feeding me.

I agree with you 100%. Give me a personal trainer and chef at my disposal 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, even on vacations, I would not have ever gotten this fat in the first place.

I had complications immediately after the surgery, and for a few weeks after, and I would still do it again. There is nothing like the feeling knowing that you are helping yourself get healthy and then seeing the results either in your measurements or pounds that motivates you. I have lost only 4 pounds since my surgery, 27 overall since I started my pre-opt liquid and I am happy.

When I was researching the weight loss options left for me, I wanted to see the negatives first. Why? Because I had failed on so many diets and other doctor supervised plans, I wanted to see what went wrong. Our website, this one we are on right now, gave me the negative info I was seeking. At the presentation the medical center gave they showed negatives. What it all came down to for me was lifestyle. I didn't want to be operated on so long and have the RNY totally disrupt my life. The 5 years out on those patients show many gaining the weight back and having nutritional problems. The Lap Band was non invasive, and doesn't disrupt your life. You can make simple changes in your lifestyle and suceed with the band. You can lose it slow and steady and make it a part of your life, instead of making weight loss your whole life. All I can say is do lots and lots of research, contact anybody from this site and other sites like it. Have a frank discussion with your surgeon and his support staff, have the same conversations with your family.

I am beat all the time too, and I am getting in 50-60 grams of protein a day. I don't get it either, but I am plugging along. I just started solids so maybe I was just fed up with the mushy/pureed stuff. I do get a Slimfast down and few times a week.

post op surgery problems with eating
Chrisann replied to mellizo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You should call the doctor ASAP. They will tell you what to do. If you are eating because you are hungry, they may progress you to mushy/pureed, and maybe give you a fill, but not telling the doctor is doing a disservice to both of you. YOu might do some damage, and he won't be able to properly treat/diagnose you. -
What to tell co-workers
Chrisann replied to Rachel In L.A.'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am the Office Manager, and panic ensues when I am out of the office for a week. And since my liquid diet fell over the holidays, and office parties and house parties too, I told anyone who asked. Its nice to have people ask how I am feeling etc, instead of not even saying good morning, or just coming into my office to complain about something. People are starting to eat healthier, even if its just around me, so they are not "tempting me". The candy and Desserts on the counter have been non existant, this was stuff that used to appear all the time. The reality is, I would rather people know up front, than have people talking about me behind my back. I was back to work in a week, and in hindsight should have taken 2. I had a hernia repair and that was killing me more than the incisions. People said I looked exhausted and I felt it, leaving work everyday that first week at 3pm. All in all the response from my co workers have been positive. -
I wore pants the first few weeks after surgery, ones with looser, or non constrictive waist bands, it hurt like hell when I wore jeans 2 weeks out of surgery. I have worn pantyhose as I am required to dress professionally as well. Just pull them up a bit higher than where your stitches are. The idea I had was to not put pressure on the incision areas. Even now, just over a month out, if the jeans aren't resting on the right spot of my waist, bam, it hurts.

My nephew(8 years old) whispered to my sister when I got home from the hospital and said she doesn't look skinnier. He then came and said to my face, and I asked him why. He said he thought they were going to cut all the fat off me and I would come home skinny.

Wonton Soup without the wontons was a good alternative. Once on mushies, I lived with cottage cheese and greek yogurt. I made my own Pea soup from split peas, onions and shredded (in the magic bullet) 4oz of ham, and let the whole thing simmer for a few hours. High protein, low fat and it filled me up good.

Check the sodium levels in your liquids, you could be retaining water, maybe its your time of the month approaching and you are retaining there too. I would also give a call to my doctor just to be certain as well.
-
I got my first fill just shy of 1 month and go back on 2/15 probably for a bit more. Every doc is different. I am glad I got it because I was getting very hungry. Jim, glad you are feeling better, the complications only make you persevere and stronger. That was my attitude throughout all my strange complications.
-
Congratulations NYGMEN, your Giants beat the Patriots, and it was a great game to watch.
-
You might be retaining water, and sodium might be in your liquids. I have lost 4 pounds since my surgery 12/31 and I just started solid foods today, and had a fill this past Wednesday. Give yourself a break. You are not supposed to worry about losing weight 4-6 weeks after the surgery, its a healing time. Your body is used to the liquid meals. Once you get the fill, then worry. Don't stress yourself out.

You know, we all have other lives other than having a lapband. I am a Mets, Jets, Rangers fan, but today will be rooting for the Giants. I don't hate them the way I hate the Yankees. I forgot, I have been to the Skydome too. So NYG maybe you can join us when and if we get together for a Mets game:rolleyes2:

I crave salt, so I have taken to sucking the salt off the pretzel logs and then throwing them out or eating green and greek olives.

I watched the Biggest Loser UK yesteday on the Fox Reality Channel, it was an all day marathon, no food commercials during the show LOL. But I liked their format better. Consise one hour shows, with fewer commercials.
