  1. Why should they even care how you are losing weight as long as its done in a healthy way? You are 24 years old with your whole life ahead of you. Better that you have the opportunity now. I didn't, so now I am 40 years old and have the band 6 weeks. If it was available to me 15 years ago, I would have jumped. This is you and your husband's decision only. I would rather see you do it now, get healthy younger and experience life as a thinner person than spend the next dozen years trying to do it the "old fashioned way". Besides, once you get it done, go back to the classes, I bet you will lose weight then.

    I need a swift kick in the...

    I love the elliptical if I get my butt to the gym, but there is not one within walking distance of my house or office that I belong to, and the thought of driving there at 6am, and then having to find a parking space so I can go to work makes me not go. So I do walk in NYC when the weather is tolerable, 40's is the lowest temp I walk in and then do the stationery bike at home. Last night I used it to hang clothes on that I brought up from the basement that need to be ironed.

    I put the bike in the living room and stare at it too, but if I am sitting on the couch too long, I get on the bike for 15 minute intervals, but for only 4 times a nite. I walk too, but its been too damn cold here in NYC to walk outside.

B: Egg, cheese and ham on english muffin L: 8oz greek yogurt, 1 cup string Beans Snack at 4 PM 1 peeled and sections grapefruit D: 4oz breaded baked pork cutlet, and 1 cup rice, I was craving it, so had it. Oddly enough was hungry later on, so had 2 oz thinly sliced cheddar cheese and that did the trick. I go for another fill on Friday, and I need it.

    Why are there so many women bandsters?

    My best friend is 6'4" and 375 pounds. He has more women tripping over him to get at him for dating. Mind you, he is not rich, just a working guy. So consequently, he plays the field. Me, I have been a large woman my whole life, and while I have met and dated a decent amount of men, I have never had guys tripping over themselves to get to me. Its like being a large/super sized man is fine, but a woman, she's a slob.

    I'm officially in bandster hell. Help!

    I have been eating fish, and chili mostly. Yesterday I had chicken. I try to put in vegetables too. I have felt restriction once, and that is when I drank a Protein smoothie too fast. Nothing from eating food. I find that during the day at work I eat really slowly if I eat at my desk instead of the lunch room. But still don't feel full. For example, this is my day thus far. One egg, ham and cheese on an English muffin. 8oz greek yogurt, 1 cup string Beans. one cup coffee, one cup decaf tea, one cup Water. Will have 4oz cottage cheese around 4 if I feel hungry, took out pork cutlets to defrost for tonite, with 1 cup of broccoli planned.

    I can't tell if I am full or not?

    Measure your food, and write it down. Then as you have to increase to feel full, write that down too, so at some point you will know the amount that causes you to feel that restriction. You don't want to always puke up. You can damage the band.
  8. I have 4cc's in a 10cc band, go for my second fill on Friday 2/15 and I need it. I don't feel restriction.
  9. My docs suggestion booklet says you can have caffeine, 16oz after the surgery after the liquid phase.
  10. My doctor asked me on my first fill where I fell on the hunger scale. Then how soon was I getting hungry after eating. I got 4cc's in a 10cc band. Using that same questioning now, I am getting hungry 2 hours after eating, but don't feel a bit of restriction 98% of the time. So, I figure that I need a fill. I am averaging a pound a week so I am doing ok, but want to be able to feel restriction because I know that I will overeat.

    I'm officially in bandster hell. Help!

    I was retaining Water all week, and I broke down and bought a scale, it showed I gained 2 pounds. All of sudden today, the dam broke so to speak and after drinking Irish Breakfast Tea, full caffeine, I was in the bathroom 8 times today. Got on the scale tonite, and I am back down 1.5 pounds, so I will probably break even back to last Monday's weight. I was waiting for the band to tell me I was eating too much, and it hasn't. I feel like I am eating too much, but maybe I am not. I swear, getting in solid Protein is much more difficult than I thought. I thought I would have problems with the liquid/pureed phase, and I went through that fine. I have a fill coming up on the 15th and I would be happy with a 1-2 pound a week loss. I am not looking for more. Its been 6 weeks since my surgery and I am down 5 lbs.
  12. Was told by my doc's office that I could eat brunch/lunch before the fill. Not sure if I will, I might be nervous tomorrow, but will let you all know how it went. :rolleyes2:

    Chewing gum?

    No one at the doctors office told me I couldn't. In fact, was chewing gum when I went in last week for my first fill and she didn't say anything.

    how is everyone doing

    Take a photo of yourself the same day every month. For me its the day before my surgery. Once I saw the January 30th photo and compared it to the December 30th photo, I saw it. Otherwise in the mirror, nope, don't see it.

    I go Friday, February 15th for my second fill. I liked being on the liquid/mushie/pureed meal plan. Trying to get in solid proteins have been more difficult than I thought it would be and I am feeling more hungry now. I have 4cc's in a 10cc band.

    Breakfast 02-08-08- Post it please!

    Greek Yogurt, 12oz cup of Decaf Earl Grey tea. 9:30am. At noon today, had a Nature Valley Chewy Trail Mix Bar.
  17. Well I have discovered if I don't have anything to eat before 11:00am, I am hungry all day. I am eating less than I used to eat, but eating more than I should. LIke last night, 10oz chili with cheese, and 2 cups green Beans, steamed. I made the chili from scratch. So this morning, I had greek yogurt, with 14g Protein, took 30 minutes to eat 8oz cup. So we shall see how the day progresses. I am scheduled for a doctors appt next Friday, so maybe I need a little more in my band. I currently have 4cc's in a 10cc band.

    My first experience Sliming

    Sliming is when you bring up really heavy, thick saliva, and it strings out of you, makes you want to cough and blow your nose. I have been told its a precursor to PB. (Productive Burping) It happened to me when I drank my smoothie too fast, and it happened to NukeChik when she probably ate too big a piece of shrimp.

    Cheese?

    The Velveeta 2% milk version is pretty good. You can buy the cheese slicer that enables you to cut it really thin if you buy the block kind. Low Fat Mozzarella is good too. Other than those, I can't stand low fat cheese, let alone fat free.

    how is everyone doing

    I am doing well finally. Am down inches that I can see, my pants fall down and my sneakers are looser, and have 27 pounds off since December 17. I am going on vacation the end of the month and bought a new bathing suit one size smaller, and I can see my curves. That is wild, and just a beginning.

    Oh, MAN!!!

    I got my first fill last week, 4cc's in a 10cc band, and I have been able to eat more than a cup of food too. Only rarely am I getting the food satisfaction feeling, so I think I need more in there too. I am also eating less than pre band, but feel I should be eating even less.

    If you are consistently losing 2lbs a week, I would sit tight. The average is 1-2 pounds per week so you are fine.

    My first experience Sliming

    Well last night, had 5 oz of fish and 1 cup of steamed green Beans, ate slow and purposefully, and was still hungry. Had 2 slices of cheese and 6 crackers. Still hungry. So went to work on my computer, and wound up eating about 6oz of a 8oz package of licorice jelly beans near my computer that my friend eats. Was still hungry, so then realized what the hell I had put in and attributed it to head hunger. But seriously, why didn't I feel the pressure and sliming effect I had earlier in the day from a smoothie? Now today, have had a mashed banana and 1/4c of cottage cheese, and two decaf teas, and I am full. Go figure......

  25. I am not cleared for abdominal work yet, or using the leg press, etc, but can use weights for my arms. I think that is because I had a hernia repair.
