Anyone up for letting me interview them this weekend?
Chrisann replied to Lori in Cali's topic in The Lounge
I would be interested, but I am only banded less than 2 months. -
Advertisements in the middle of a discussion thread???
Chrisann replied to SpecialK's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
Well considering that most of us already had the surgery planned when we started here, how many people does the band ads actually reach at this point? -
What weight did you use as your starting point your highes or weight on surgery day ?
Chrisann replied to ivyrose325's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am using my weight that I weighed the first day I started my 2 week pre-opt liquid phase, which is the day I became VERY serious about losing weight for the first time in my life. I was higher than that start weight a year ago. -
Question about a hiatel hernia~please
Chrisann replied to marieze's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had the hietal hernia too, but never knew I had one. Never experienced reflux or heartburn. In fact the recovery from the repair of it hurt more than when I had it. -
I took one week, but then had unforseen complications, like a reaction to the anethesia, dry heaved; and a latex allergy. Had no indication BEFORE surgery that my recovery would be so hard. I had always healed fast from any other kind of malady. In the end, I should have taken two weeks. Everyone is different, but even if you know your body, this is major surgery and sometimes when you think you can do it, your body doesn't let you.

Dr. said "no more protein shakes!?!?"
Chrisann replied to bigbaby's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have problems in the mornings sometimes, so have a slim fast. After getting a fill I have to be on liquids for two days, so I go back to the protein shakes too. -
I mixed the crushed pills with Propel, and they went down fine the first month after surgery. Now, I still have problems, so I am cutting the pills in half. Bought enough chewable vitamins to get me through another few weeks.

Well I got the idea from this site, and when I asked in the doctors office they just said it wouldn't hurt. I travel quite a bit, and don't want to be somewhere where no one knows about the band placement, and I need emergency treatment while unconcious. I paid about $45 total, for Sterling Silver on Ebay, so at this juncture, its so worth it.
-
Got mine on Ebay in Sterling Silver, just has gastric banded, abdominal port, no blind NG on it. Waiting for it to arrive.

I thought I was eating too much, and then went for my fill on this past Friday and I lost 5 pounds since January 30th. So, I am going to stick to the meals I was on, because apparently, it wasn't too much.

How about that Valentine's Day Liquid Diet???
Chrisann replied to minock's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on liquids over Christmas too, and the Christmas Parties. Oh, and I was banded on New Years Eve.....Valentine's Day and avoiding sweets? Bah. -
Anyone gone off coffee?
Chrisann replied to Grayorm's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have tea in the AM now, instead of coffee, but have coffee in the afternoon, only 10oz cup though. -
Do You Enjoy Eating More or Less after Banded?
Chrisann replied to yellowroseaz's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You have to make choices now as to what you are putting in you. Since you now hold a lot less food than you ever had the choice you make has to be a smart one in order for the band to help you lose weight. So faced with something decadent or practical, I am going for the practical. -
Thanks everyone, I do feel better, the codeine kept me sleeping until noon!!! The bruises are lovely shades of purple and light blue that I haven't ever seen. I am attaching a photo of my dog Rocky and Me at an event called Dogs Day at Shea from April 2007 so you all can see him..
-
Wow, the 20th will be here sooner than you think. The dinner is a momentary lapse, just get right back on the liquids and you will be fine.
-
Yep, thank God for the dog. He follows me everywhere, so I guess when I went straight down he panicked the same way I did. I have the codeine left over from the surgery, you can be sure I am taking those tonite, I am glad its the weekend.

Officially lost 5 pounds since January 30th. Still got 1 additional cc, giving me 5cc's in a 10cc band. I can't believe the 5 pounds, since I have typed all over this website about eating and feeling hungry. Don't get it, but completely accept it.
-
I don't know if what I say can be any help, but I was on the liquid pre surgery phase for two Christmas parties and was able to speak with the people who planned it that helped me out. It would be smart for you to talk to the doctor or nutritionist too.
-
Going for my second fill tomorrow. Already have 4cc's in a 10cc band, but I barely feel any restriction. Not sure how much she will give me but I need it!!

In Penn Station, its 99 cents plus tax. $2.00 more if you want bacon, sausage or ham. Don't do it everyday, but that is all eggs are worth anyway. I am going on vacation Feb 29 through March 10, so I think the doctor wants me in and get the fill in so I am still at home 2 weeks after in the event there are complications. I don't feel restriction 99% of the time so I need it. Had a lunch meeting today, had Chinese food at the restaurant. I actually felt some restriction so took the food back to the office, but then ate it around 5 pm because I was going to be working late. Just now, had some cut up melon I brought in this morning, and have a few more things to do here before heading home. Got sauteed beef, scallops and shrimp in oyster sauce with broccoli. It was hard to communicate with the waiter as he barely spoke English so I figured this was safest. Watch the Oyster sauce is worse than something deep fried and I gain 2 pounds tomorrow.

Well the weather here has been freaky, but I took the dog out last night and did a big circle around my neighborhood, 10 blocks. I think I need to buy a pedometer so I can figure out how many steps/distance that was. Problem is, I woke up ravenous. Weird because I haven't had hunger early in the morning. So, on the way into work picked up 2 eggs over easy, wheat toast, home fries, its the Breakfast special. $1.07. Got up to my office, threw out the homefries, and ate the eggs and toast. I feel full. The first full feeling I have felt since being banded, and tomorrow I go for an adjustment.

I go for mine on Friday 2/15/08 and I need it too.

I SWEAR I am doing things right and I am not losing weight...WHAT GIVES?
Chrisann replied to cookielover's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Changing the fat into muscles maybe? The scale won't change in that case. -
The vitamins I take make my urine bright yellow, no matter how much fluid I take in. But I agree on the headaches, I am finding if I don't get enough fluid in or enough protein I get a nasty headache. As soon as I take a drink or eat some yogurt or cottage cheese the headache goes away. I too thought it would be taken care of with Excedrin but it was dehydration and not enough protein.

I got the slime episode when I was drinking a smoothie, probably drank it too fast, and boy it came out of my nose too. I always read the posts about this, because while I have eaten and gotten that pain in the chest I haven't slimed or PB'd yet from food. And all you guys remind me to be careful.
