Hi there, Im debating another small fill. In the mornings things are pretty good for restriction. I usually eat cottage cheese because other things get stuck. By dinner time I can eat pretty much anything and way too much. For lunch today I had a good size chicken breast and still hungry. Yeah I think it's time for another fill.... guess im looking for a... "yup you need a fill." lol Take care! Joe

Restriction in morning and none at night.
joemcc replied to joemcc's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well, like i mentioned i did get a small fill... something is goofy though. Now I have less restriction. I will have to talk to the fill nurse in the morning and see what she thinks. JoeMcc -

I went ahead and had a .4cc fill. They were going to try for 1.0 cc but i wouldnt let them. If this doesnt do anything I will try another small fill next week. I would rather test it then find myself closed off. Very good info in the links. Belive it or not....comparing myself to the posts in the links influenced my decision. JoeMcc -

It just seems so odd that one would be that more restricted in the morning vrs. evening. JoeMcc -
Why so many fills to make the band work?
joemcc replied to kagoscuba's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If your wearing a ring... take the ring off. See the indentation? Im thinking the stomach does the same thing. It takes a while (like the the sponge) to get the band to set. On thanksgiving I had a fill that got me tight. I had to be careful about what I ate and how much i chewed. This week... I feel wide open. Im at 6.6cc in a 10cc band...all blind fills... 1st - 2cc 2nd - 2cc 3rd - 1cc 4th - 1.6cc JoeMcc -

I actually found this thread looking for info on coffee. I need to give it up. I know for a fact it makes me hungry but I still drink it. :S JoeMcc -

Hi again, Do any of you have a suggestion of how to test the restriction? I was banded Aug 31 and now have 4cc in my VG band. At this point I really cant say I hvae restriction and I know for some there is a fine line between wide open and closed off. I can get 2 more CCs tomorrow but almost affraid to. I guess my question is... should I test the band out by eating to the point of being full? Right now I try to control my portions and don't push it at all. My typical meal is 3-4 oz of chicken breast and 1/2 cup of green Beans. I might have a sugar free pudding 20 min later if im craving something but don't really push that size of meal. It would be nice if there were a sure fire serving of something that should be enough food to keep you satisfied. Can you compare the way you felt while eating your first solids post op to the way you feel with the right fill level? Are they similar? JoeMcc

Hi everyone. I ran into an issue last Friday night. My brother turned 40 and a bunch of us went to the Tulalip Casino in Marysville for dinner. I showed my Lap-Band card and asked for a discount. I was of course denied! So, has anyone had success with this? My wife and I do like to dine there with friends once in a while but I do not want to pay $16.95 to eat a few bites of food. It's tough to get a whole group to change the place to eat. I guess if i cant get them to give me a price break i will sip on Water and enjoy the company. I did write an email to them asking to consider a discount for lap-band patients...no reply so far. If anyone wants to email them.... here is the contact page on their web site. Maybe if we join together we can get somewhere. Tulalip Resort Casino :: Contact Us JoeMcc Banded 8-31-07 Dr Joya Puerto Vallarta Mexico

You have some great points. We all come from different backgrounds and have very different opinions. I felt a little bashed from your posts but it's all good. I got some good info from the thread. JoeMcc

Gaffer, Changing the subject here.... I see the "$16,000 man" under your name. Are you self pay? Just curious. Here it's about 18k. I have seen other places over 20k. I went to Mexico. The only way I could afford it. I think the benifit outweighed the risk. JoeMcc

LOL.... you guys crack me up. I love the internet. Not one of you can read my tone. Am I upset with the buffet? No, not really. That is where they wanted to go so I went. Some of you think it's my issue. Your right...it is. I just wanted to go hang out with friends and family and not embarrass them by eating so little and paying $17 and not embarrass them by not eating at all. Maybe by the time Ive been banded as long as some of you I will understand the Bandsters Code of Ethics. JoeMcc

Hi again, My boss had the band the same day i did. We are about 7 weeks post op and no fill for him yet. He is having dificulty with the first couple of bites only. Once he gets a couple bites down he can eat anything. I told him to try drinking hot fluids first...see if that helps. Any ideas? JoeMcc

So, WASaBubbleButt... Why do senior citizens get a discount? Is it because they are low income, simply have paid their dues over time, or is it because they typically don't eat as much? Im really not sure. Most of the seniors I know have a lot more in their bank accounts than I do. Just curious...because I don't know the reasons behind a senior discount. JoeMcc

how do you edit in here and not get a bunch of smilies??

Interesting opinions..... I’m way too cheap to waste money so I guess I will drink Water and grab something on the way home. My nurse and I were talking when I got a fill last week about my trip to Hawaii next week. She asked, "are you sure you want a fill before Hawaii?" I said, "Yes....it's time I learn how to NOT associate food with entertainment." I can still have a good time in Hawaii even if the band is tight and all I can eat is mushies. It's all good and thank you for the suggestions. At least in 25 years when im a senior I will get that discount...LOLOL JoeMcc

Applebees will do that for me. BTW Freemont california is opening an Applebees...I disigned the roof for it. JoeMcc

2 Weeks until first fill, and I can eat anything (and I am)...HELP!
joemcc replied to Jaide0967's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Jaide0967, Your in what some call Lap-Band hell stage. My nurse told me to drink a glass of Water before each meal, keep the carbs low, and don't worry too much about losing. Just try not to gain. I had my first fill in my VG band last tues. I get another 2cc next tues. Im hoping i will have some restriction. I must admit... the small fill did help with appetite though. Hang in there!
