How to prepare for a fill!

@justwatchme... I have no idea.. She started me with 3cc and I could not drink a sip of water... Then went down to 1 cc and the pain at band site was excruciating to the point I fainted and was sent to the ER... The pain did not subside till the band was completed deflated and unfilled... I have no idea why this happened... Maybe my band does no like fluid I am not sure... This happened a week ago and I was able to eat for the first time yesterday cause I have been so tight... I ate the day of fill at 1 pm and mini bagel and was filled at 6pm... Is that the reason??? I don't know!!

How to prepare for a fill!

@ B-52... I mean should I go on a liquid diet the day before my fill... Etc...
  5. Hi everyone, I had my first fill last week and it was horrible. I landed in the ER. I am trying to figure out what I did wrong! Can the veterans tell me how do you prepare your body for fills? Going to try and convince my surgeon to give me another fill next week to see how my body will react this time around... And input will be greatly appreciated.

    First fill from Hell!

Well it is day 4 since my episode and although I am able to keep liquids down that is all I can keep down. I have not even tried for purée or solids as I have to sip slowly for liquids to go down. My band is acting like it is completely full when in fact I know it's empty. I guess my stoma is swollen from the trauma that it went through. I will see my surgeon next week and hopefully get some alternatives.
  8. Hi all, so Thursday I had an appointment to get filled. I was banded 8/13/14... So the surgeon put in 3 cc's and told me to sit and relax and drink half of cup of water. Needless to say I could not keep anything down. So it was emptied to 1 cc. To make a long story short I was sent to the ER right from my surgeons office. I was admitted as I could not keep not keep anything down even with 1 cc... My band is now emptied of all fluids and deflated of air. I have been home for 24 hours and I am still having problem keep liquids down. Has anyone experienced this... I was sweating profusely when I got my fill and kept on throwing up phlegm. I was put on morphine and given IV fluid to hydrate me... Is the band trying to tell me something? Any advice would greatly be appreciated.

    Gas

Give it time... I was in your shoes three weeks ago and believe it or not walking is the best remedy. Also try sipping on anisette tea, that helped me. I am three weeks post-op today and believe it or not I am still dealing with occasional gas. Good luck and hang tight!!!
  10. I am with you toothfairy... I was banded on 8/13 and now I feel like I am on a eternal diet... I have hunger and anything goes down, I feel no restriction at all... I need my fill like yesterday!!! Is this normal??? Did I make the right choice???
  11. I basically eat soups, chicken, chowder... The soups have a heavier consistency than just broth to be honest.
  12. My papers also said I should wait till week two for mushy.... However, I called my doctor and she said if I can tolerate then I can do mushy because I was going to chew my arm off. I try not to do mushy but more puréed.. It goes down better. However, I do one spoon of puréed and I feel full. I am 7 days post-op.

    Worried of gaining weight. Help!

I feel this same. I was banded one week ago 8/13. I am on the mushy stage and I feel hungry. I am not a patient person but I understand that I have to have self control and continue dieting until I get at least my first fill.... We GOT THIS!

    Hungry!

Hello all, my name is Dayana and I was banded on August 13th. My band is empty as my surgeon will not fill until six weeks post op. The issue is that I am hungry. I have been on liquids and gradually moving to on to mushies. I despise the taste of my protein shakes and I know that I am only taking in one serving as oppose to three servings. Is this why I am hungry? Should I force myself to take the protein shakes. I hate people saying "you should off opted for the sleeve because hunger will not be a issue". I opted for the band and I am happy with my choice I just want to be successful. Also I have only lost 4 lbs since surgery, is that normal? Thank you guys any advice or comments will be appreciated.

    Gas, Gas, & more Gas

Thank you all for the encouraging advice. I am a very impatient person and I have never had surgery of any kind before. I am learning to play by the rules and be patient with my new band.
